While the other women you mentioned undoubtedly sound great, they don't have the power, nor the range.
I think Carrie Underwood has the voice to be in Martina's class but she sings to many up tempo pop sounding songs that don't really showcase her vocal talent.

The power of her voice is staggering. Just amazing. There are not many women alive or dead who can hold a light to that voice. It's amazing to me this one doesn't get more airplay. Even though it's early work, it was some of her best!
Scott Russell that face caught me first in the 90's while I was on Classic Country radio. Fell in love with the Kansas Blue-Eyed Baby Doll after "Independence Day". She still looks great at 51 with teenage daughters.....missed seeing her in concert couple years ago. Those blue eyes could make me rob convenience stores.....lol

What a voice!!! She can hold a note for so very long it's amazing. God how I love her music. Martina and Linda Ronstadt have two of the most amazing voices of all time so dynamic with incredible range.
Martina did this live on one of the awards shows when it came out as a single and she nailed it. I think she won Female Vocalist of the Year the next year and that performance had to be one of the reasons. The audience went crazy when she was done singing this song that night. It really was a showstopper.
Pretty sure it was the CMA's, because I recall the same televised performance, and she demolished the place. It was an absolutely amazing performance.....and I have still yet to find it here on YT.

i remember as a teenager my life being like this. i had no one to help me. by the time i was 15 i was highly suicidal. it was only leaving my parents and their town to go live with my grandmother that saved me. she never realized the depth of my issues but i knew she loved and cared for me. it took a few years but i healed.
dont ignore your children. if you see them struggling reach out get them help . . . no matter how many times they might say they are fine if your gut tells you otherwise listen to it.

A long time ago, I got to sit next to Martina when she sang. No studio tricks, no production. Just her and a guitar player. In person, her voice is actually far more impressive than what you see here. She's a force of nature.

I think this is my favorite Martina McBride song. You have to really have talent to hit those notes powerfully and hold them for several seconds. I think this puts her up there with Celine Dion and Whitney Houston (before all those years of hard living destroyed her voice) in vocal abilities. Christina Aguilera could hit the notes, but she let's her octave range just up and done so much that it's just irritating.
