    I upgraded to 6 several months ago. Made an appreciable difference for me. Especially when I cut the chord.

      Yep. Streaming sticks, smart home devices, etc. It all really benefits from the management/prioritization that comes with 6.

      Do you have a bunch of wifi 6 devices? We only have one in our house but we both work from home and am looking to upgrade my router.

    While you get the most out of having wifi 6 devices.... Something you should also mention is that you will get a big benefit in the ac side too. You can have more devices on the network with less congestion. Don't forget ax was built for things like conferences and cities.

    Thanks for explaining this because my ISP just installed my new router and I was wondering why my phone had an 6 on my wifi icon!

    Well presented, useful and comprehensive information on the functionality of wifi 6 and how it integrates into the mix of internet data services. Thanks! Worth the viewing to be sure!

    We upgraded to Nest Wi-Fi a year ago and we are all in on streaming, working from home, multiple cameras and devices and we have zero issues. I think the features that Nest Wi-Fi offers and how it organizes everything. I think that's why nest wifi will support us for many years and Wi-Fi 6 isn't worth it.
    We have an incredible ISP, I know that helps.

      Craig here. Same situation: I upgraded to gig-speed fiber and Nest WiFi. Smooth as butter.

      @@ReviewsOrg now a slap myself in the face, I was having wyze bulb connectivity issues (not surprising), TP-Link connectivity issues and switchbots hub connectivity issues. Everything else is working perfectly fine so I thought it was their services. I did reboot my Wi-Fi and everything connected perfectly. so a network reboot ever so often probably doesn't hurt even with Nest Wi-Fi

    You are correct that most internet connection in our home will not meet the theoretical speed of wifi 6. But a lot of us is always using the internet speed as a basis of wifi 6 where in fact it has other purposes. You can try the bandwidth of wifi 6 buy attaching a network attach storage and download it in your home network and see the difference. Also you can watch it in nas. It doesnt only necessary to test your internet speed.

    WiFi 6E is what you want not just 6. 6E comes with new set of bands in 6 GHz. There is no channel sharing.

    • @Sewtangle
      @Sewtangle 3 роки тому +1

      Is Wifi 6E still backwards compatible. I know the 6 is, but what about the 6E? Sometimes those updates take some of that functionality away.

      @@Sewtangle
      Yes I understand at this time it is slated to be backward compatible.

    A number of manufacturers do not follow the WiFi 6 certification, but are still marked as a WiFi 6 product. The problem here is that they do not follow the Wi-Fi Alliance standard 160Hz from the ax standard (up to 1733 Mbps - 4804Mbps on the shorter 5GHz channel), but instead 80MHz which theoretically stops at 450Mbps. What you have to do before you choose one, if you want to really upgrade the speed at home, is to check in the manual that 160Hz is max. Do not buy anything lower, because then the performance is also worse and you do not really have a real WiFi 6 router.

    If you ask me, no it's not time to upgrade to WiFi 6. Why? You asked. Well WiFi 6E is now a thing and spending $200 in a router just to know that a better one is already being worked on to come out in a few months (Samsung Galaxy Ultra and IPhone already support it) I'll wait for now

    • @gabrielmoralesvelez
      @gabrielmoralesvelez 3 роки тому

      I have understood that only the Galaxy S21 Ultra has wifi 6e. If I'm not wrong the iPhone has wifi 6.

    • @NmanuL
      @NmanuL 3 роки тому +2

      @@gabrielmoralesvelez you're right, Samsung usually do this a year before releasing it to all the phones, also is rumored that Apple will be releasing the next iPhone with 6E. But if you take into account the time that took to go from WiFi 5 to 6, waiting for 6E is the choice I'm willing to make.

    • @gabrielmoralesvelez

      Wifi 6E would be overkill for 99 percent of us here for consumer usage.

    The speed is only as fast as your internet connection speed, that is what screws alot of people up.

    Hi
    What about a wired connection from the wifi 6 router? Would the wired connection get more bandwidth? How do wired connections function from a wifi 6 router?

    Our family is perfectly fine with 50Mbps speeds.
    I can wait 2 and half hours for something like a 90gb game, fast enough for me.
    Im looking for something with a great 2.4ghz performance as i think i'll be stuck with 50Mbps which was just recently updated by my ISP from 25 not too long ago.
    Maybe in 2 years theyll upgrade it to 100Mbps which will be more than enough still for 2.4GHz

  • @macster1457
    @macster1457 3 роки тому

    I don't even get much more than 50 Mbps from my ISP because I live in the country. So wifi 6 wouldn't really help me much since I don't really transfer files between devices that much or at all.

    I know this video is a year old but I hope you can still help me out. My isp provider is Vmedia i don't know if you've heard about there super hub 3 and the problems most people are having with it. Its a modem/router only the router is rubbish so everyone is buying their own router's setting the modem to modem only mode and using their own router's. Would this work with a wifi 6 ax router I'd really appreciate it if you could advise me on this please Thank you 👍👌

    FIRST OF ALL, THIS IS 2021 INFO. Secondly, much of the States are poorly served by their carriers - many areas have no cable (copper or glass). Given that the States claims to be #1 in technology consider that swathes of Chinese real estate has G5 whereas THE USA doesn't. Vietnam (my residence) has FIBRE through out major cities and has end-to-end country wide FIBRE.
    REGARDLESS of what lying cell carriers say, the USA has MINIMAL G5, a few, very few, larger cities have a few PATCHES of true G5. (Lamp-post like things are beginning to clutter side walks only now in 2022/23.
    The carriers are supplying 4LTE (which is old technology and is the lower part of G5 spectrum). Most suckers who have bought G5 cell handsets should go to their menus and turn G5 OFF. Your battery will love you.
    I (and fellow employees) have personal (as in hanging off our belts) NETGEAR MOBILE ROUTERS. We experience effects of speed. MY ADVICE IS TO HOLD BACK ON WIFI 6 UNTIL PRODUCT DESIGN HAS MATURED AND OTHERS HAVE JOINED THE MARKET.
    AND forget about linking G5 with WIFI 6 because few people have them có-mingled (Think: WiFi is via cable from the carrier and SMARTPHONES are from radio).
