Thank you mate, thank you for this… it’s so simple for those who have been playing for a while I’m sure. But just to get started in day one, minute one, this was the best!
I am trying to follow the video and my guitar sounds okay. Just want to test my new tuner, but when I play 6th string(E), it keeps showing me different chords than E. Anyone knows what I am doing wrong?
The tuner should be tuned to the number which corresponds to the string and then the corresponding note, both have to be what they should be. 6E, 5A, 4D, 3G, 2B, and 1E, there are notes in between these so if you are on string 3 and shows 5? must get sharper, OR 1? should go lower until you find 3? and finally get to 3G. same procedure for all the rest. Also my strings were not on tight so they kept adjusting tighter at the bottom, so I needed to go sharper (tighter) until I found the NO.Note (like 3D) corresponding to the string I am tuning. The bottom where they passed the string thru needed to be tighten up and then tune it otherwise the strings when being used will keep getting lose until it gets tight at the end. Hope this helps.
You didn't explain to a beginner why its important if you are sharp to loosen the string then bring it back up so you are always tightening the string. You just said "because you missed it" Makes a difference in the guitar staying in tune. Have a nice day.
I no nothing and wanna teach ny daughter how to play. I'm frustrated... I have a classical guitar and a tuner, but can't figure anything out. I've been holding the guitar for like 30 mins, first time ever and I am frustrated
hello. my tuner reads the strings wrong. for example it reads the 6th E string as D. does it have something to do with the small subscript letters beneath the big ones on the tuner?
This is great to get the guitar up to pitch however it isn't the best way to have the guitar in-tune with itself or have each string in-tune with each other. Try plucking different pairs of strings and listen to them as pairs. Do they resonate and beat together or can you hear slight resonance and sour sounds. It is better to opt for a further step of tuning whilst a chord is being played. Try tuning in a perfect 1st position open Dmaj chord. When that chord is perfectly in tune now play an Amaj chord and you will certainly hear how much it is out of tune. This is because the frets are never really in the best position. Also it is a good idea to detune the G string slightly flat because when you strum the guitar, that string tends to ring slightly sharp. In general from the nut to about the 10th fret there are many positions where these notes are sharp. Some are 2-3 cent sharp and some are 9-10 cent sharp. Overall it tends to be sharp. There are a couple of systems that can take this sharpness out meaning you can play triads up the neck noticeably more in-tune with a slight modification. It comes in a kit called EARVANA or the more known one is Buzz Feiten tuning system.
I've got a Mugig T-2s which doesn't recognise the bottom E string but when I pluck the A string it says that I'm plucking the E string which is very sharp. Also what do the 430 = numbers mean?
Hi I just brought a guitar today to learn it in my leisure. My big sized E string is not showing up in tuner. I previously tuned it in some mobile app and now tried using my own tuner, but it shows D or G or A sometimes when I'm trying to tune E (bigger) .. What to do??
Surya H R i have the same case. I think we should press the tuner button once more. Mine has 2 modes. The first one get me the D G or A for the BIG E STRING (Top string). If i press the button once more, the mode will change. I will try it after this.
I was looking for a youtube video to answer my question if those tuners work well for both electric and acoustic guitar. Thank you for your video. I found the answer lol
This tuner displays to a resolution of 10 cents which implies an accuracy of +- 5 cents. Is this acceptably accurate for tuning a guitar? I've heard people talking about tuning their notes one or two cents high or low, etc.
Just got my first guitar now when using my tuner I found that the tuner would go directly in the centre and turn green. However all my notes it was jumbled up. I put it on a guitar setting but for some reason when I played E recognised as a D when I played A recognised it as an E any suggestions
First time ever doing this. It was…something. Lol! Took me about an hour and a half to tune my acoustic guitar “close enough” to being tuned correctly. Once I get a few strings spot on and adjust the others...it seems that when I come back to the ones that were spot on, they have now slightly changed a bit. Anyone knows why that happens?
Could be that the strings haven't stretched completely yet or your tuners are not very good. If your guitar strings are new they need to be stretched before they'll be stable.
Hi, i know it's a bit of an old video now, but i just got a similar tuner, and i have a problem when i try to tune my guitar or ukulele differently, especially for flat and sharp notes. For exemple, if i want an A#, the little needle will go to the right as i tune it (as it should), stay at the far right for a little while, then straight to B with the needle at the far left of the screen : so i can't get a "proper" A#, i have no way to be sure it's not too flat or too sharp. Apparently my tuner is supposed to show this but it doesn't, so i'm a bit lost. Would you know how to do ? Thank you! (i hope it's clear)
Hey there Skipper thanks for the great video I got a question for you how do I train my hand my left hand to do a B chord I couldn't do a B chord to save me life I really need help on the B chord
I understand how to tune but I do not understand what the letters on the tuner mean like if I play the G string it reads a number with a hashtag. A reply would be nice
I'm wondering if it is acceptable that machine heads have a play when I turn them to one side to the other. I'm not talking about your products. By the way, this guitar your playing with is beautiful.
The machine heads are made to flop back and forth in fact guys like Clapton and Emmanuel have their guitar techs remove the machine heads and take a rat-tail rasp and wallow out the hole, then when u reinstall the machine heads you get maximum sloppiness.
i know its an old video, but maybe you would answer lol what's the function of the flat and double flat feature that often comes up in tuner (any kind, be it clip on, stompbox, or whatever)
My electric tuner shows a number before the letter, what does that number represent? The number usually somewhere between 1 and 6.... for example on the low E string it will say 6E
Thank you, i didn’t know how to use it, i first started to put the tuner in the air and then on the guitar strings.
lol
My mom tried to put the tuner on the guitar strings as well... and I said “whatever it does... it’s definitely not that”
Same😂😂
this is a joke its not real, just so you guys know its sarcasm
I knew it was!!! Lol
This helped me so much. Since I just got my first guitar, all my strings were completely off what they were supposed to sound like. Thank you.
Send it back, your guitar should never go out of tune. Well maybe a little when u drop it.
what? a guitar goes out of tune VERY easily, and it's a good sign that the guitar's out of tune at first.
This guy made it so easy to learn. I almost feel stupid looking up the video but you made it real easy to understand

How do you know if you are at the wrong E on the lower E string? Is the hertz different when you reach that E on the electronic tuner?
I can't get the A string in tune. When trying to tune that string, my tuner goes from E to D (sometimes F) but I can't get it to show A.
Do all guitar tuners that have a frequency (Hz) display on the screen have the ability to be adjusted?
