I haven't played in 10 years I used to be able to tune by ear, now I'm an old man, my ears don't work like they used to, I just bought a new PRS hollow-body too and thanks for the tutorial I was having a hell of a time tuning
Excellent video. You were great showing how the strings are numbered and named, and which way to tune the pegs. GREAT JOB. I also learned from another video how to memorize the strings: Eddie Ate Dynamite, Good Bye eddie (little "e").
Thanks for teaching me the correct way to tune my guitar in a very simplified way...I will definitely be watching more of your videos in the future! : )
Great video, so helpful, what brand of tuner do you use, I have one that came with my grandson's beginner guitar, but is isn't very good, I think I need a different electronic tuner. Thanks.
Haley Korabik keep turning your key up until you get to E, it's showing you a pitch that is also meant for that string that your not using. Keep playing with the key to tune it up and down but be easy, you will get to E! hope this helps!
Sorry bout that bt I had a question I have tuner BT I left it on my electric guitar n I lost track at time of the days I had it on and when I tried to tune it again my whole guitar got out of tune could u help me how to fix it or do I need to buy a new one??
With the tuner , you keep getting a higher note . So how do you know it you on the right e. How do you know if you’re on the right e . I keep breaking strings!
when i put on a new set of strings do i stop at the first e i see?I tend to find them loose sometimes at this point even tho tuner says i'm there. Thanks
Hello, and thanks for your question. The most common acoustic guitar body is the dreadnought guitar. However, some people do prefer learning on a smaller body such as an orchestra model (also referred to as an OM) or a folk bodied acoustic. It really comes down to personal preference. I smaller bodied acoustic is typically more comfortable to play for most people, but usually doesn't produce the same volume as a larger bodied guitar
Okay.. I just started to learn today and I am having issues with the e-tuner. It's hard to explain. The tuner seems to work fine with the first string but the rest of the strings... it just jumps from one name to another. You don't see the needle move slowly at all. It just jumps. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or the tuner is malfunctioning. Can I get some advice...or a lot of beer? :)
really good tutorial. i just go an electric guitar and tried playing a power chord which sounded no where near the tutorial. but now i figure its out of tune. thanks!
The 7B reference is a low B as if you had a 7 string guitar. It is a note lower than the 6th string 6E note so if you are trying to tune to standard tuning keep raising the pitch past the 7B. The tuner only knows what note you are near not what note you are trying to get to. Thanks for the inquiry!
hey I got a question, I just recently got a guitar and it came with an electric tuner, how do I know what mode to put it in and what number should it be on? The number goes from 430 to 450 i believe. As far as the modes go it has a C, B, D, V and that's it i think. Thanks for the help.
Hey Brad, great question! You are going to want to set the number to 440. As far as the modes go, it might be worth it to double check the letters for the modes. Without knowing which tuner you have I would assume C would mean chromatic which you can use to tune to standard or other tunings. B = Bass, that mode would tune to standard tuning on a bass. The D mode might actually be G in which case it would tune only to standard for a guitar. V would likely be for Violin or it could be that rather than a V it is a U which would be to tune a ukulele to standard tuning. I hope this response has been helpful. Thanks for the comment!!
You might have what is known as a birr on the bridge saddle which will cause the string to snap at its normal tension. Which end of the guitar is the string breaking?
out of 11 min of footage you got to the topic at 6 min. then failed to explain how the tuner works. Explain = how to make something plain. so do you think you were successful. NOPE.
Thanks. I appreciate your help. This is a good idea. I am relearning the guitar after being off for 43 years.
I haven't played in 10 years I used to be able to tune by ear, now I'm an old man, my ears don't work like they used to, I just bought a new PRS hollow-body too and thanks for the tutorial I was having a hell of a time tuning

Awesome! Thanks so much.
What does the letters underneath the note represent and how do I know which one I select.
Tikilove theyre for the intrument youre using, G for guitar, B for bass, V for violin, U for ukulele, etc
What does the small letters b mean.
Mine can do b and bb and bbb
I have no idea why my 5A string it appears on my digital tuner as 3G
Thanks! Guitar sounds a lot better now!
Great video, so helpful, what brand of tuner do you use, I have one that came with my grandson's beginner guitar, but is isn't very good, I think I need a different electronic tuner.

I haven't played guitar for a long time now soooo.. yeah. Thanks
you are very helpful thank u
I noticed that the g for example can achieve this sound with a very tight string as well so how tight should the string be?
I'm really confused! My lower e string is saying its tuned as C#... what is that ?
Haley Korabik keep turning your key up until you get to E, it's showing you a pitch that is also meant for that string that your not using. Keep playing with the key to tune it up and down but be easy, you will get to E! hope this helps!
Good job👍

What size guitar would you recommend for an adult to start out with

Allen Cash mine is doing the same thing.
My tuner one second shows me a 6 and when I try to touch anything it turns to 4, what does that mean??
thanks bro
thanks , I don't speak English, but I have understood. Thank you!
really good tutorial. i just go an electric guitar and tried playing a power chord which sounded no where near the tutorial. but now i figure its out of tune. thanks!
does it only tune to standard
Are there any differences doing this on an electric guitar? Or it is the same?
Boianskee it is same buddy
omg thank youuu
New guitars have severely loose strings. Took me an hour to figure out what was wrong.
My tuner is mixing up the notes no matter what i do
me too i just changed my string and its all fucked up now
and i don't know the order of the chords so im scared to go two high or too low
Rad Runner me too
Rad Runner same
mine starts with 7B? I only have 6 strings how is that possible

Hi Haley
I tried to tune my guitar to DADGAD with an electronic tuner. Didn't work. Make a video of that

Man, NEVER tune your strings down.... you ALWAYS tune up. If the note is to high you go down and make it a little flat and after you TUNE IT UP!!!
To high? or Too high?
U js trying to make the video longer
there are no ads.
Eat all day go to bed early
reaches the last e and string busts
You might have what is known as a birr on the bridge saddle which will cause the string to snap at its normal tension. Which end of the guitar is the string breaking?
dude, You talk to much.
Why u get so mad
Maybe because the lesson is for an absolute beginner. If you are an expert, why would you be watching a video on how to tune a guitar?
out of 11 min of footage you got to the topic at 6 min. then failed to explain how the tuner works. Explain = how to make something plain. so do you think you were successful. NOPE.
you only vacuum every 6 weeks
Blah, blah, blah...this could have been a 4 minute vid!
GaryG660 it’s for beginners idiot he’s teaching
