Greetings! Although your disability doesn’t have to be a disadvantage alcohol, bars and discos put you at risk of one. Think about this and remember to think the next time that you decide to go to a local bar or disco to drink alcoholic beverages. Like any other medication, when mixed with alcohol it risks a possible intoxication. Many people believe that a mixture is like banana and strawberry blended. However once you swallow your medication and maybe later during the day you decide to have a drink. The mixture is happening inside of your stomach through a process name digestion and although there is waste, or elimination process too. Medication intake happens daily and some residues are left behind in the stomach. Consider asking your doctor about intoxication and the risks that my happen. Also do not stop your medication to party and to drink, or abuse it if you become addicted to certain one.

Hi Donna, You can call your local social services organizations (go to your county case managers to find out about those organizations/companies and their phone numbers) Ask them: Do you have outreach activities online or in-person? During Covid, many of the life skills and recreation groups are online, and you can join Zoom activities. I hope this helps.

More than likely you too are telling your stories like any other person who suffers from the disease of addiction.
