Dauntless is a free-to-play action role-playing video game published by Phoenix Labs. The final version game will release in May 2019 for Windows, PlayStation 4 Pro, and Xbox One.
Dauntless takes place in a fantasy setting, where a cataclysmic event has torn the world apart, releasing monstrous creatures known as Behemoths that prey on the surviving humans. Players take on the role of Slayers to take down Behemoths, collecting loot that they use to craft and upgrade weapons and equipment as to take down larger and more powerful Behemoths. While hunting, the game plays as a third-person action game; the player uses a combo system to attack the creature, while monitoring their own health and stamina gauge. Such hunts can take upwards of twenty minutes of in-game time to complete. The game can be played both as single-player or cooperatively with up to four people.

Hey massive! I know you might not see this comment, but you Actualy were the youtuber 7 years back who got me interested in console gaming. Almost 6 years back I finally had saved enough for a console and since I was watching your gta5 live streams I decided to pick up a brand new ps3 500g it was unfortunate by the time I got my own gta5 and started playing, you had already moved on too the next gen. I had been watching you for a couple years before then. I was Accepted into your ps3 gta5 crew but I was never able connect with you on. I'm still on the old system and I proudly where your logo online. But I've been unsuccessful trying to play with you in game. But thank yiu, if it wasn't for you I might still not have become a console gamer. I believe some of your best videos are when your with your crew.for instance arma to day z, to gta5. Your fun to watch in multiplayer and when your immersed in singplayer you take us for loop, I believe there are many of your massive family. THTS feel just the same I'm not that different. I played Dauntless for a bit cause I like monster hunter and it was alright! Won’t be returning to it as I actually own monster hunter and rather play that but still. The whole hunting/killing feels way more satisfying in MH for me. But hopefully for all dauntless players Epic will continue to make it something y’all can enjoy!

While the gameplay's fun, it lacks the raw unfiltered charm and atmosphere MH offers. It got all the big frames right but didn't have the attention to detail, which was what really made the mh franchise shine.

Yes... but in MHW you actually Carve into the monster to get pieces, mining uses a pick and gathering herbs looks like you are gathering herbs. Dauntless just has a special feature of Glitching 70% (maybe 80%) of the time. To say the least Dauntless has parkour and jumping! Haha Jumping. Although with a huge weapon in MHW...I guess I can see why you can’t jump 👀

Not even it looks like a monster hunter for people who suck at games. Legit looks like the easiest piece of shit game ever.
I don't know how hard it is to craft the health portion, but seeing him saving it although he has 4-5 of them and tries to get some free heal somewhere, and leaves his teammates fight with the bosses is just ridiculous. He deals some damages to the beast but it's just like he has little sense of contribution and cooperation. I just feel uncomfortable watching people with little enthusiasm like that. Having them in the team is just like having someone sitting around and wait for other people to work for them.
I think he was trying to talk more about the game because it’s really hard to talk and play games like this.

I tried it too with friends. It felt very repetitive after the first few hours. It felt more like mashing the attack button and dodging was all you could do. There is no real strategy like monster hunter. Just fighting (and falling off cliffs) But some people like he says want that. I like games where you just hack and slash but more like god of war or devil may cry. This is a good game for free, but if your playing with friends monster hunter is way more random and spontaneous so you will have more strategy and it can be funny sometimes the scenarios you get in. The best battles in dauntless are the ones where your too weak and everybody is hanging on for life. I hope they improve it though and add more! (create load outs for armor)

I love the game I'm at endgame, it's so fun I cant wait to see what they do with it down the line.
Allot of people are turned of by the graphics or the free to play stuff. It's however a really good game. It requires some skill but that's part of the fun of it. It has no pay to win at all, mostly only cosmetic or a slight exp boost which doesn't matter at all since levels do nothing in this game. Give this game a chance since the developers keep updating it allot and they are one of the few who don't sell out to pay 2 win.

The biggest turn off is comparing it to monster hunter cuz it’s no way near as good. It’s a fun game but that’s about it.

@@ElJags Yep. No herbivores and other non-hostile creatures walking around to make the environment more alive. It's a good game but I'm not sure about his game's staying power. I know they can add more things but still... 6 weapon class at launch isn't good. Environment interaction is pretty much nonexistent.
I can't support epic regardless if it's free. Save the world showed me that Epic is greedy and awful developers. Their customer service is also the worst and this is going off half a dozen personal experiences.
Again just my experience but I refuse to support them.

You basically explained Monster Hunter at the beginning. You can break horns, cut tails and break other parts and then leave the hunt or cart enough and you still get the rewards (in World at least). I get that its a sponsored video and Epic Game's ass has to be kissed because of that but still...
this game would be dope on the switch, they should definitely make it for switch. Gunna try this game out when I get home from work; looks pretty fun for a free game

There certainly is two distinct opinions on this game, I mean I never played MH World, so playing Dauntless is a new experience for me for now. I always enjoy something new for a bit regardless of what it is. There are definitely issues with this game that needs to be fixed. I also haven't gotten through all of the game yet so that keeps me going as well. Though I do certainly enjoy it in the now, no clue how long I can say that'll last, and tbh, really just have to see where this game goes from where it is at. I mean I recommend anyone to just try it, it's free, so ya only lose some time if ya end up not liking it; whether you had that opinion before or afterwards so yea, at least give it a shot now, and then idk maybe come back a few months later and see if anything's been done with the game if you at least of bit curiosity to do so. If not, nothing wrong with disliking a game it whatever.
Avid mh player here. I played dauntless during its beta a year ago. I waited for mhw on pc so I had time to kill. I'm restarting this, in spite my old account having the top gear. I enjoyed the game, and even comming back from world, I still enjoy it. In general I'd say, if you can, you should play mhw over this. However after 200 hours I've sortoff run out of things to do (unless I just make gear for all the weapons, but I learned 4 already). The next few weeks I'll fight the last monster in that game untill their next big update in a few months, so dauntless chose the perfect time to release.
