On behalf of all the single women doing their own car repairs...Thank you so much for this video! Well done! I was able to replace the rear driver side window regulator for $70 bucks - Dealer wanted $350 for parts and labor. I was able to do the repair ALL BY MYSELF...kind of a big deal since I didn't even own a ratchet until I did this project. LOL Thanks, a ton!
Wow excellent!! I am so glad we were able to help, and great job on taking the initiative to give it a shot even though you never had before. A lot of people don't even try to do their own repairs because they anticipate failure before they begin. You are now empowered and can probably do a lot more on cars than even you realize!!!
Good for you girl! Be surprised what you can do sometimes with the right video and tools
TheZophisticatedDove well said I was thinking the same thing. 👍
Don't forget mechanically challenged men. I have replaced four of these now, and still to watch this to kind of refresh my memory. I'm getting pretty good at it. I had better luck pulling the old motor and regulator thru the bigger upper hole. Same with putting in the replacement. Kind of a wrestling match either way, however. You can leave the bolts in on the replacement, just loosen them a tad.
Love the video! You kept all the struggles & mistakes in the video. It's the little things like wrestling the regulator out & forgetting the door handle release arm that make everyone feel "not alone" when you do these types of repairs. Well done!
Because of videos like this the home mechanic can take care of repairs such as this. Thank you for taking the time to publish this video. The repair was very easy and my daughter is much happier. Thank you!
Just fixed mine. Didn't take much time at all thanks to this video.
Guys, I just want to say thank you,
I order this part trough amazon too, and it was really a surprise to see a super fast delivery, and a snap to replace, it took me half the time to replace it than to remove the darn thing.
Thanks for the video, saved me a whole lot of my hard earn money.
This video was exactly what I needed. Bought the part from Amazon for around $35 and replaced the driver's side regulator on my wife's 06 Liberty. Instructions were VERY CLEAR and accurate. Thanks so much! You saved me a bunch of money!
I think I am here like everyone else, because our Libertys all had this part fail. My 2005 just did yesterday. I came across this video, and following your steps makes this a very doable job. I think the most helpful part is the new version regulator you reference and link to the video, just ordered my part, it will be here Monday, and I will get it installed, all for less than $50. Thank you!!! Great job!!
I have watched a few of these videos and you are the first and only as far as I can see, to actually show how the window detaches from the runner via the clip, thank you so much, will attempt to replace my regulator tomorrow, if its not raining, thanks again my friend ..
You save me a ton of time all these years later. My daughter and I Thank You Tremendously.
bfindy awesome, glad it worked out, thank you for watching and commenting!!
I just switched out both rear windows on my 2005 liberty. and I consider myself non mechanical... This video walks you through install and makes it really easy. Ordered from company, fast delivery! Wow ... Super easy!
The rear passenger window on my 06 Liberty just did this for the second time in only a few years. Same window, and I never use that window either. I don't have the parts to fix it myself, but this video was so helpful for taking the door apart and allowing me to pull the window up and tape it like your customer had done. Now I at least feel comfortable driving around with it like that. Thanks for the video!
your welcome, hope you have better luck in the future on that window.
Interesting as the rear driver side window on my 04 liberty just did this for the second time as well (few years apart though). Just like you i literally never use that window either. Not sure what it is that causes this to happen to an untouched window...
Super video ... you didn't miss a step. I got the job done in 50 minutes and have limited use of my right hand because I tore my rotator cuff, and the job still went smoothly. Anybody who follows this video can do the job. Thanks for saving me lots of bucks. Great job!
I had a problem with mi window that involved taking it apart to fix it. It was not the same problem you guys fixed in the video, but it was so helpful to see you take the window apart and put it back together! I'm very thankful to you guys!
Thanks for posting! I needed it today. Had to change mine out myself after I had mine at the dealer to get power steering fixed. They said they rolled the windows down and the back one wouldn't go back up. They wanted me to pay almost $400 to fix it. I did it myself for $130 for the part from Advance Auto parts store.
You saved me some $300 on yet another window regulator repair. Thank you for the video. Well explained, good instructional shots and easy to find. Once again, thanks.
This video was AWESOME!! The walk-through was detailed and easy to follow. Saved me about $200!! Thanks guys. I will watch again if I need any more repairs of this nature.
thanks again!
Excellent video. I setup my laptop in the backseat and followed the instructions step-by-step. I took my time and it took me a little under 1.25 hours. It would probably take anyone else with experience under 30 minutes, but I have only changed a tire and oil on my vehicles. So with basically no experience, I set aside about 3-4 hours anticipating problems and was very pleased that it went without a hitch and worked the first time. I bought it on Ebay for $33.26 and saved me about $150 by buying and installing it myself. Thank you.
Thank you. My daughter's Jeep Liberty experienced the same problem and with the help of this video I was easily able to replace the regulator.
Thank you Soooooooooooooooooooooo much * I was actually reading my Manual & then I thought YOU TUBE * I was so happy to see this video * After viewing your video & realizing I can accomplish this task myself * I was very happy * I enjoy working on my own vehicles but I am now a Woman of 64 years & it just gets harder for me so when I see something I can still do myself * Well, it just makes me very happy * A Sincere Thank You
awesome awesome awesome!! we are glad the video helped and thank you for watching and commenting!!
I can't begin to say how great this video was in helping me complete this repair. I put a laptop in the garage while I was working on the regulator. Not only did you give a great practical demo, but I was able to order the part from Amazon (thru APDYI). I did talk to APDYI directly and they were very helpful in figuring out the part number of the newly designed regulator. There were a couple things in the video that I should pass on. To get the door panel out, there are a few snaps at the top so you have to get those out before lifting the panel up. The other thing is that it was difficult for me to "push the window" on to the regulator. My wife helped and did it really fast. She said it just had to be aligned better before it went in. Anyway, great and yes it saved me a lot of money as well.
Thank you again.
Awesome, Great to hear and thanks for buying our part from Amazon. This helps us keep making these kind of videos.

Looks like this is exactly what I need to fix my daughters first vehicle. Thanks for the very detailed, and easy to follow steps. Greatly appreciated.
I also wanted to say thanks. My wife's '06 Liberty had exactly the same problem. I followed your helpful video and had the window fixed in just a couple hours.
Ive seen like 5 or more videos and tried to do it by myself and always a problem. This is the Only video that explains EVERYTHING in detail so I finally was able to do it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I will subscribe cause this really hepls!!!
Mary Parrilla awesome, thank you so much for watching and commenting!!
So glad you made this video. I have to replace 3(!!!!) windows. Front-passenger and rear-driver on my mother's Jeep, and rear-passenger on my sister's. You just saved us so much money! Will definitely be ordering from APDTY on Amazon. Thanks!
THANK U SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO, THIS IS VERY HELPFUL TO KNOW, I NOTICED THE FRONT WINDOW IN MY DAUGHTERS 2005 JEEP LIBERTY, IT HAS NOT STOPPED WORKING YET BUT I NOTICED THAT IT WAS LEANING & SQUEAKS A LITTLE. But we appreciate more of ur Video's!!!!
Great video! Instructions were very clear and logically presented. Just finished installing a replacement actuator in my wife's Libby. Saved me a bunch of money. Thank you!
I just finished working on my 2004 jeep liberty rear driver's side, this video was a great help. I got it all together only to realize I didn't quite snap the window to the bracket, round two tomorrow, but the video was instructional and easy to follow, Thanks.
Thanks so much for posting this video! My wife think's I'm a superstar now because this looked like a serious project. Very informative and well done. Thanks!!!! Couldn't have done it without you!
Outstanding "how to" vid. Took me 20 minutes to change out the regulator & motor.
The video did the trick. Both window regulators in after the heat subsided (over 105) and before the sun went down. Only one caveat, no screws came with the replacements. But the ease of replacement is what makes the difference.
I watched this excellent video and went striaght out and fixed my window.........took me longer to clean the glue from the duct tape off the window that been sitting in the Florida sun for three days! Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
I wouldn't have been able to do it without this video. Thank you thank you thank you.
Thx u helped my big friend he was stuck on some part that another video skipped you showed how to do it and explain properly
Just replaced the passenger rear regulator in my wife's 03 Liberty. Many thanks for this helpful video.
Thanks for this. I'm hopeless so it took me a while, but the step by step was outstanding and I got it to work.
Great job, took about 30 minuets. heads up, stop by the auto parts store and buy some plastic door panel anchors you'll be glad you had extras hanging around. Two sided tape for the draft guard for the spots it dosen't restick... Again great job you made it so simple, Thx...
Thank you! Because of you, I changed my driver side rear window regulator! Would be nice if Automotive design engineers made the door frames (behind the panels) open up on a hinge so we could easily access or change window components. It's ridiculous how in todays time, we have to reach in and put the regulator in the way we do. It should just open up like a screen door and everything would be clear as of what is going on and how to fix it.
Thank you so much!
we agree, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment, we appreciate it.
Agreed.
Is the same regulator for a 2007 Jeep Liberty? My back passenger side window went down while I was driving today. I can hear the motor try to get it back up but it won't go.
They were suppose to replace all four, two years ago when they had the extended warranty thing but apparently they only did the driver's side back window. Though I think they did something to the driver's side window also because it wasn't going all the way up but it hadn't went down and stayed down.
Now they're saying that I can get a *reduction* on dealer cost of fixing the one that wants to stay down. I'm not happy about that one.
I figured out a temp fix...folded cardboard in the top corners of the window, until it's thick enough to hold it up...much better than tape.
Thanks for posting this video. At least now I have a ballpark time for labor costs. :)
Very helpful video, thanks for posting!! But it looks like the clip that attaches the window to the regulator is plastic just like the original part. Why not use metal like the Steiger design?
Thanks for the video. Took the time out of figuring it out and made an hour job into a 1/2 hour job. Thanks for posting
Thanks! If you click that link below the video, you will see the four options for your liberty. The ones we used were the part numbers 55360034AJ and 55360034AJ.
you might have mentioned that the attachments on the BOTTOM of the glass are different, some have a ball clip
and some don"t, of course I got the WRONG one, make sure you know which attachment is the one for your 2006 jeep liberty, that have 2 different attachments for the same year jeep, really smart, duh!!!
Perfectly described, I've used to fix my car windows and was bless to have videos like this, thank you very much!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this video you saved me a lot of time! Cheers!
thanks for watching!!
Great instruction on this. Saved me a lot of money and aggravation!
awesome, thank you for watching!!
Thank you for the video. I was able to repair my window by myself.
Excellent presentation. Very thorough. Very professional.
Thank u so much, this tutorial was very informative. Your detailed explanation took hours off my job.
Thanks for a great video! I never thought I could have done this on my own, but I did!
Thanks ordered the part from amazon with your link below made it so simple I'll let you know when the part comes in as to how easy its was to install.
This is useful to see as one of my rear windows is not working as it should on my liberty the only thing that I think you should have done when you had the window loose was to rub the glass over with some solvent to clean off all of the white glue that way it does not get on the rubber/felt parts where the window has to rub against.
Used this video to replace the regulator from right rear just like the video. I just reviewed it again to now replace the left rear window regulator one year later. 2006 Liberty.
Thank you very much for this video. it was very helpful. Saved me a lot of cash for someone else to do this.
Awesome video! Thank you! I have to do this to my rear Jeep window this week. Will save me a ton of money doing it myself :-) Thanks again!
This saved me $200. THANKS!!!!!!!!!
I have a problem. After installing (new) regulator inside door when I try to attach the window (small metal ball) to the plastic regulator it just sits on the plastic and no way to snap on? Any other suggestions (if its wrong mount to adapt?
Watched this video, called these guys verifued the part numbers if they worked with the connection. Regulator shipped fast and worked as stated. Very accurate video for install. Thabk u for solving my problem. The crappy design from.mopar is gone and no issues....did install 7 months ago. Just want to let everyone know that the product does hold up. The difference in engineering works 100 times better. Try it u will not be dusappointed.....
'This video was spot on. Worked like a charm.
Excellent information and video capture. I used the part that you recommended and the window works perfect...however I cannot get the door release to open the latch when reassembled. PUlled the panel back off and check the clips and I am lost for a solution. Does it matter which rod passes over which rod, lock vs release?
Thank you for posting this video. Great clear instructions. Saved me over $300!!!
Great great video! I am happy to know it can be fixed and I may end up attempting it myself. Great content and explained well !
thank you SO MUCH for this video. Made changing my wife's 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport rear window regulator a snap to change.
Thank you for your useful video. Very helpful. I was able to complete the job in just under an hour.Probably 15 minutes of that was cleaning duct-tape residue off my window! :)
awesome, thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the video. My daughter has the same problem with her 2003 Liberty.
Great video, thanks. Be extra careful when putting the regulator in, i snapped the cable housing and had to start over with new parts. Do not force the regulator into position, it's tricky but be patient. :)
Awesome video. Very detailed.
Took the door apart and see that the window does not have an integrated metal plate with ball stud style but instead a hole style. It is important to obtain the correct bracket that will clip to the hole in the window. Purchased model number REPJ491715 - again, this Liberty was manufactured on 06/2006 for reference - not sure if that is before or after what mid 2006 which seems to be the time when Jeep changed the design on this.
Thanks! I was able to do this jo problem. Only difference on mine was that the window was attached to the regulator by a plastic clip that you had to push in. Thanks again!
Excellent video. Very helpful.
Perfect video watched it once did the job in 35 minutes.. Thank you for the. Help....
Awesome!! thanks for watching and commenting!!
Very detailed and informative - great job!
thank you
What year is your Jeep? It sounds like you may have the 2006. In 2006 there was a production change mid-year and Jeep released a new style window regulator and glass, Unfortunately the two are not interchangeable.
Very helpful, you do a wonderful thing here with these videos. Keep up the awesome!
Thank you so much for this video, it was so helpful. Just replaced my window motor today thanks to your help :)
Hi, They are still available, you can click the link below the video to go directly to our website. Thanks!
Worked great, thanks!
Thanks so much for this video, made things much easier, I had my plasma cutter out!!
+Jerry Martin Ha, yeah we would have a plasma cutter out too as much as possible if we had one, we would be looking for stuff to cut up.
Thanks so much for this. It looks pretty easy to replace.
sorry can you upload a video of how to pull up the window manually coz where im right now i cant get another regulator until i go back home from vacations please .... thank you
Great information and walk through! keep up the good work!
Thank you for posting this....
G'day mate - a really big shout out for the video - really helpful and made the job do-able. Thanks for posting.
Very good video. Any armchair will be able to do this repair with these instructions.
Very helpful. Thanks guys.
Great video, but that part you are suggesting sucks. Mine broke just after the 12 month warranty expired. Buyer beware. But still a great instructional video.
Danny Krinkle sorry to hear that, make sure you contact APDTY directly with your original order number as we would have warrantied out a part just out of warranty, also keep in mind the number one cause of failure is shutting the door with the window partially down, also Jeep has a recall on the window switch on numerous models as it runs the cable farther then it is suppose to and breaks it.
Thanks for the video, really useful.
Gracias desde Jalisco México me ayudó bastante repuse por mi mismo el regulador 👍👍👍👍
Thank you this was very helpful. So easy to do really. Thanks again
Thank you sir. Now I will try to fix it and cut my arms and fingers in multiple places as always.
great video. helped me a lot. great quality. nice and easy. thanks !
I have an 06 Jeep Liberty V6 3.7L. The temperature gauge on the dash has been reading as overheating. There is no white smoke and no bubbling from the coolant reservoir. I started noticing problems when the heater stopped working and then about a week later, the temp gauge starting rising. The car was then sucking about a gallon of 50/50 per week. I noticed a leak from the radiator, so I have replaced the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and the sensor for the temperature gauge with all brand-new factory parts. The vehicle temperature gauge still shows as overheating and it will go down when I turn on the heater. The fan works fine. A/C works fine. Heater works fine. The rubber hoses running to and from the radiator both get warm and it feels like coolant is traveling through. Some people told me it is probably a leaky or cracked head gasket, but the oil looks fine, there is no white smoke, and there is no bubbling from the reservoir.
Do you think it could be a head gasket? Is it maybe just a shorted wire causing the gauge to read hot? Is the vehicle just possessed? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
ok, has the check engine light been on and if so what codes were present? If all those parts have been replaced and it is still overheating, then you have ruled out most of the common parts except the heater core itself and the heater valve, I would be looking again at the fans very close and the heater core. If nothing else can be found and it is still leaking and still overheating, then a coolant pressure test & cylinder compression tests should be done to try and find a leak. A 3rd test called a hydrocarbon test could be performed also. This is a chemical test that checks the coolant system for hydrocarbons which is burned fuel. If burned fuel is getting into the coolant, the hydrocarbon test shows this and that means an exhaust port is cracked into a coolant port and that would usually be a head or head gasket. A cracked head gasket does happen but is not super common and most overheating problems are radiator, water pump, fan issues. However it only takes a split-second for a head gasket or head to crack when the engine overheats.
Auto Parts Direct To You
Yes, check engine light is on and was reading as the catalytic converter. I noticed a sensor was unplugged. When I plugged in the sensor and cleared codes, the check engine light went away permanently. I will check the other stuff you mentioned and appreciate your help.
thanks for this video and other like it i made sure to order parts through you guys and will make sure to in the future. Thanks
awesome, we certainly appreciate it!!
Thank you for the video! I had wondered what the red wire was from the door due having pulled it out because it block my door latch, I don't know how it did though. Now I know what it goes to!
Quick question, would this part also work on a 2003 Liberty?
Anyone know if it will other years/models would be compatible with the '03 Liberty?
yes this will fit 2002-2006 Jeep Liberty, all the same until 2006 model year
The video looks great but does the sound cut out on anyone else from about 2:00 to 4:20? It looks like you're explaining lots of stuff but it's dead air.
There is audio during that time, but I think I know what's happening. For me the audio for the left speakers cuts out, but the right speakers keep playing. So I'm guessing you don't have your left channel speakers set up?
thanks for the video!! i have to do this to both back windows in my 04 jeep liberty
Thank you. Excellent! video. Thank you for your help, and my wife thanks you.
Great video, thanks
Awesome! Thanks Guys!
Thank you for the help. I would've never been able to replace it. I've encountered one problem though. When I roll the window up it sounds like the regulator tries to go up farther then the window can go and it pops out the metal clip. Is there anyway of fixing that?
The master window switch has a load sense circuit built into it, which could be why the motor pushes on past the stop
Yes you most likely need a new front left window switch (also called the master window switch) ,the window switch contains the components to stop the window motor and it is very common to fail, the window will roll up or down fine but will not stop. This is many times the cause of the regulator breaking in the first place.
Very helpful. Thanks
thank you
So on this window regulator/motor replacement vid I didn't catch what specifically was wrong with the broken one. Cable, motor, etc? Do you have to change the whole thing or can certain pieces be replaced?
The original regulator on this model had a screw type motor and the long screw is common to corrode from moisture intrusion and then it will not properly screw in and out of the motor. The new design uses a cable style motor and regulator and is not subject to the moisture intrusion issue.
