Seriously people don't relise just how good Pentax gear is. I have been using Prntax gear for about 10 years. It's brilliant gear and cameras I will be using for years to come.
I love my K-1, and for me 36 Mpx is a sweet spot. I passed on the Mark II version, but I would definitely pull the trigger on a Mark III with the K-3 III autofocus.
I have two of these cameras (so I don't need to change lenses) and absolutely love them. The K1-MII was streets ahead at launch and still outshines many high end cameras today. I can't even imagine what the MIII will be.
@@maboleth I waited two years after the K3MIII expecting a new model. I am 95% sure they have something in the works. But, like you say, they take their time to make the next camera the best out there. I do think that 6 years is long enough - but then I have a Nintendo Switch and that thing keeps surprising the hell out of me after 7 years.
The image quality wise, it won't be better than Fuji GFX line which became dirt cheap nowadays on used medium format market. On the other hand, one thing is for sure, no full frame camera on the planet eath comes close to K1 / K1 ii in dynamic range. (from a former short period k1 ii owner, who now owns the gfx 100s).
Nice video! Pentax K1ii is such a great camera for consulting arborists. No matter the light conditions, always clear and sharp images. Dirt, sand or rain doesn’t matter. In fact, I haven’t had and found a competitive camera to make the job done!
Happy Pentax K1 II user from Spain, paired with couple of vintage lenses FA*85 1.4 , 77 1.8 , FA*28-70 , F50 1.7, FA 35 f2, 28 shift.... nice nature and portrait gear ♥️ Waiting for new FF successor !!!
Had a K20 and K30 years ago but went to Nikon, Have now come back and got myself the K1-ii ,stunning camera, cannot fault, got myself a D FA 150-450mm, has simply blown me away
I am a Canon shooter nevertheless, watching this video. Because I nourish deep respect for Pentax. As Canon and Nikon seem leaning towards stopping production of DSLRs, I would certainly look towards Pentax in case I fail to find replacements for my beloved DSLRs when they die. I'm not interested at all in mirrorless cameras. IMO, those cameras incorporate more limitations than advantages to make it worthwhile. However, that's me. Thank you for the video.
Great video, thank you! I still use my original K-1. I never took the opportunity to upgrade its version to mark ii or iii, but I also don't feel I'm missing anything, as it's such a fine camera that's perfect for landscape photography. Cheers!
In the early 2000s I would have been seriously considering a system like this, I was serious about landscape photography for a few years, but couldn't keep fooling myself that it was interesting, it's hard to ignore the fact that, yep, it's... well a landscape photo. neat.
Pentax K-1. When you look through the viewfinder directly at a powerful light source (mainly the Sun), you can see that are difficult to see, and even disappear (due to the internal reflections of light in the pentaprism I imagine), the green light diodes of exposure information (speed, aperture, EV, ISO, etc.) Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Is it possible to adjust the power of the viewfinder's light diodes? Or how?
You really shouldn't be looking directly at a strong light source through the viewfinder. You are far better off using Live Mode to protect your eyes. It also has the advantage of giving you a good approximation of the effect of the settings.
How does this camera cope with shutter shock? And what would be The slowest speed for safe handheld shooting to avoid motion blur, (give and take the amount of coffee in the photographer's veins). Thanks Caula
I love Pentax since the film camera's day and I do totally agree with the awesome image quality, ergonomics and sturdy built quality which Pentax gives. Unfortunately Pentax has not yet come up with mirrorless cameras. That's a big disappointment for Pentax lover like me.
Hi! I know k1 ii is the best for landscapes, but the k3 iii has so many new features and menu and nice design, would it be good enough for landscapes too? i can live with fixed screen.

you did the right thing, Pentax brutalized dynamic range on mark 2. ua-cam.com/video/JQKu972nvU8/v-deo.html

The 15-30 is a great lens. I use it normally for architecture. f/2.8 is very helpful as well.
I have the K-1 and could not be happier.
Thanks for a great informative pentax video great guys!
Absolutely stunning images…😊
I love mine along with my K-70. I use them for Astrophotography. The Star stream is awesome. ❤
K-1 with 15-30mm is a joy to use.

I did not upgrade mine either. I did not want to risk it in the post, and the upgrade would not have been any advantage to my type of photography.
@@dukenukem5768 Exactly! Well said, cheers!
Спасибо.
很开心现在还有人用宾得相机,我们不孤单。

Purchased the K1 ii for its image quality, build quality plus looking for a unique camera
This camera has crazy 5 stop recovery...even R5 that cost so much more does not have the same clean shadows !
What are the best lenses for K1 mark ii
At 4m30s he says : '... sealing' but the text says 'ceiling'. That's a huge difference !
It’s a great camera
How can i set electronic/ silent shutter ... I can not find it in the menu ????
Any idea if Pentax plans on upgrading the K-1ii in 2024 or 2025?
@@reynal5272 what do you know..??
Im using Asahi Pentax K1000
Pentax K-1.

The issue was finally fixed (it happened to my father.)
The solution?: a wider viewfinder eyepiece.
Is it really 14stops dynamic range? External sources say it's 11,3stops, and drops to 10 at high ISO
DXO measured it to 14.6 stops, and is often quoted as a reference. You can look it up. At high ISO, every camera's DR will drop.
How does this camera cope with shutter shock? And what would be The slowest speed for safe handheld shooting to avoid motion blur, (give and take the amount of coffee in the photographer's veins).

The camera has a mirror lockup feature.
It's so heavy that the shutter & mirror movement hardly affect it 🙂
Ah but can it do focus stacking....
I shoot with the Pentax K1mk2,and I use a Rugged camera bag...
I think Mike is Dutch. Am I right ?
I love my k3 iii and k1 ii but sound like schilling
Here is the video where they test the water sealing: ua-cam.com/video/LaI0VjSgU0o/v-deo.html
Actually, the stars rotate around a flat motionless plane.

Of course it would.
