I just want to point out that Dan took the time to match the wheels color theme with his wall sconce hue lights in the background of his shot. That was a really nice touch.
Your reviews are getting better and better. Nice work, like review.
Fantastic run down of this wheel, detailed but no waffle... just the way I like it! Thank you Dan!
A very succinct and seemingly honest review, thank you.
Thanks! Once again, a really good review. I will definitely treat myself to one as soon as it's out :)
What a banger review.... Love the Apply Style, the Sound, just everything top quality!
Thank you ❤️
Great review and presentation. I will have to use some of this in my reviews. Great production!!!
thank you 😊
Great review. This is a great time to be in sim racing with so many options at different price ranges. Competition between manufacturers will keep pushing innovation and pricing. 👍
By far the best review of this wheel I've seen, much more detail and useful information. I've seen around 4 other reviews and realised how much they weren't saying when watching this vid!
Also, in terms of adjustability for the shifters. You can turn the top ones (the gear shifter paddles) upside down on other simagic wheels so they are lower, not sure if that would work on this one tbh as there doesn't seem to be much space between these and the clutch paddles
Great review as always Dan
Great review. I've ordered an Alpha Mini and may add this wheel later for more immersion with the GT cars.
Another great video, Dan. Thanks again!
You can tell your impressed by the wheel. Great review and probably in my opinion the most fun to watch. You looked like you were having a good time recording it.
oh well, always love recording videos - and with the new setup it just has so many more options (and doesnt take 32 hours to setup :D)
Concise, well filmed great sound and no fluff. With my kind of weird humour another win.
Top tier reviewing. Great stuff.
When I first noticed the GT Neo I thought it looked good but was one among many . Then I saw the price and my jaw hit the floor . . . I have an Alpha Mini and I cant wait to decorate it with a Neo .
As always -Great review!
i'm 1:42 into the video and just wanted to say that the production value of this video is insanely good!
thank you 😊
Great Review Dan. Solid looking wheel at a great price too.
The cube controls joke was the moment when I hit the like button 😂 Great video about a very interesting wheel. Thx Dan ✌🏻
Thanks for the great review Dan! It’s great to see your opinions on some of the more affordable products in the sim racing world!
Also thanks for the clarification on it not being genuine forged carbon on the surface. It’s greatly appreciated!
Great in-depth review! So recognizable what Dan said about the McLaren wheel, this Neo wheel being the perfect upgrade 👍
Awesome wheel! Im planning on upgrading from my tm 300rs to the alpha U and probably this wheel after seeing this review!
same
Great review, thanks!
Is not how this wheel is so cheap, is how other brands charge indecent amounts of money for other wheels, and basically anything that has the word simracing behind. Can't wait to see a motion device from simagic or moza.
Thanks for the review Dansu! I think I'll end up getting this. I'm really curious how it stacks up vs the balkn Rev 3.
Nice review. Good price. Great wheel
I love what simagic and moza is doing for the sim racing community. Only goes to show how those so called big companies has been ripping off and still is in some case ripping ppl off
Not in all cases. This will feel like a toy compared to the likes of grid, gsi, ascher, etc. I mean, it's all plastic... You get what you pay for. While it's good to offer quality products and lower prices, the ultra-premium will always come with a larger price tag and a lot of people are willing to pay for it
@@jasonandrew412 there's always one. That's because ppl don't know what they paying for
highend will always be expensive - do you need it to have fun? no. but it's there for people that want the best. it's not ripping off and definitely offers a benefit over cheaper options. but it's always good when the user gets options for any budget so we can all enjoy the hobby.
@@DanSuzuki Amen, this is what I was getting at... Not trying to sound like an arse. Options are good for growth
Those very expensive wheels are made by very small companies, who are basically boutique shops.
The manhours per unit are far higher there, which isn’t neccesarily better (in terms of quality), but will make products very expensive.
Larger companies, or at least those who can harness mass production optimized production methods, can make these units far less expensive, but they require far more up front investment to access those.
Moza and Simagic’s adoption of mass-production methods (injection molded backbones instead of CNC’d billet aluminum backbones) does allow them to make these wheels cheaper than an Ascher or Cube Controls, provided they make 100x or 1000x as much.
Coming from someone who was looking at getting a KS wheel for my R5, I might reconsider. This just *looks* better in nearly every aspect, and I really want to try and get this by May, lol
Thanks for the review, covered everything what I do need to know and what is the most important, imo, you never forgot, that it is 300$.
So glad simagic are in the sim world giving quality products for reasonable prices. Love my p1000i
I just ordered one last week and am now even happier after watching your review :D I'm still deciding if I should add the Maglink cable, becaue I'm no really sure what the benefits of using simhub are (except maybe some nicer LED animations). And how is the cable "mounted"/"routed" to ur PC, is it just dangeling and wraped arround the wheelshaft?
Great video dan :) Will there be any review of the alpha u in the future?
All their wheels have USB-C for firmware updates FYI, not all updates can go through a simagic base and sometimes you have to plug it into the pc directly.
Ahhhh ok, didn't know that :)
Lol I was like 🤦🏾♂️, at the whole USB c part
Could you use the USB-C to run the wheel and not use the Maglink?
@@lordikhonn yes
No shit sherlok?
If i really use a very long usb-c cable whit data transfer capability i dont have to buy a magic link cable separately? And since Simagics QR is more or less industry standard i could use the wheel whitout any big problem on a Moza R5 (in far future a R9 or R12 base) ?
So sick, quality is next level
The new look of the videos and the (video) quality itself is simply amazing. 😯👍
Great video as always Dan. I know 300mm is a good all round size for a variety of cars, but if I drive the Mercedes W13 F1 car in iRacing almost exclusively is it going to negatively impact my lap times? I currently have a 270mm Fanatec Formula Carbon and I'm thinking of switching to Simagic.
Does the usb adapter transmit signal aswell? Good price to use for diy projects or even with your !QR system
Big up Dan every time
Thank you for review. At the same time do you know whether grips are replaceable on that wheel?
@Dansuzuki can you confirm if you hold a clutch paddle down and use top right red dial it will change the bite point? Might be a different rotary.
Hey Dan! Great video. I have a Simucube pro. Which QR do you like better the NRG Style or the Sim Labs Xero Play?. I have both. I like the functionality of the NRG, But the weight is what I'm thinking about
So not even 2 months ago I went for a MOZA GS but had this been around I might have reconsidered. The GS is very good but a bit more expensive ofc, not so much difference here in Germany with taxes it seems. I like the low weight and the LEDs for the rotaries.
Really Cool. I would be glad to have a rev LED on my F Core 2
Klasse Review!
Danke 🤩
Hi Can you please tell me which quick-release I have to use on the base side so that I can use the wheel on my simucube 1? Thank you.
Dan is really the BEST reviewer in sim today.
I’m glad I pre-ordered without watching reviews. Can’t wait for it to arrive.
Thanks for the review! My first ever GT/Formula style wheel - I mostly drift but this is to explore and learn from other forms of motorsports
Ok now I want the same quality/price for a round wheel and I'll be happy.
Hey Dan, kann man die Rev LEDs mit ACC und den verschiedenen Autos „synchronisieren“ oder braucht man je Auto ein Profil? Danke dir
At 289 its truely unbeatable and if you get the right commector you can use it with fanatec even on consoles 😉. Im serious though at this price nothing can match it.
Usually customer look for price over quality and vice versa, this wheel had both, it's a win-win for me.
Thanks Dan!
Great review! I have a Asetek base so hoping to just use the usb c connection instead of having to purchase the maglink .
And did it worked?
I have a Moza base and wanna now if i have to use the Maglink cable?
@@Zero.X you can use either if your connecting directly to PC you can use the maglink or the usb c cable it comes with but just bare in mind the maglink is a lot stronger so a lot less likely to come out while racing as its magnetic
great wheel, absolutely insane value for the price!
Got a alpha mini and the neo on the way. I cant wait. I been racing with a broken csl elite for like 3 years😂
This is some serious competition for the McLaren Wheel from Fanatec in terms of Price/Performance/Quality.
Wanted to go for the CS DD 12nm but Fanatec just increased the price by 100€ not even a month after release... well guess i might go Simagic Alpha Mini or Asetek La Prime now.
Are the 4 encoders supported as switches yet? I have a GT NEO and I cannot figure out how to use them as anything but a rotary encoder.
Thank you, Dan =)
You probably get this question a lot. But where did you find the base side simagic qr for simucube ? I really would love to use the simagic fx wheel on my simucube but i dont find a lot of threads about how to do it online. I would gues putting a base side simagic qr on my simucube and then try to frankenstein something to connect it through usb.
Is there anymore info on the UP+ thing? I tried searching for it but got no results. Im very interested in the 6 paddles.
Quick question, I'm thinking about to buy this wheel, but in a initial faze probably I won't buy the Mag Link, does it work only with the type C, or do I really need it for compatibility? I'm going to use it with a Moza wheel base.
It will work with the usb c but that’s not a very robust connector
Regarding fuel saving, didn't iracing change it up so you can't use clutch to fuel save now? I might remember this completely wrong =)
Anyway, thanks for the review. Been looking at this wheel to replace my McLaren GT3 V2 wheel, it looks really nice !!
depends on the car, it still works like that on lmdh :D
btw sound of the shifter way way less then on the video I guess just microphone a bit increasing they volume, I was surprised. The wheel is nice test on full 23nm no cracking noise nothing so far.
so what would itt cost extra if i want to put it on my moza r5 ?
starting the looping now YEP
Love this ecosystem!
Thank you for the review. You said any base, that includes fanatec dd pro?
Yes! Obviously you need a podium hub or SRM emulator
Thanks you@@DanSuzuki
Curious if the grips are the sticky/tacky kind of rubber or smooth like cube controls?
Same sticky material as modern cube controls wheels - which imo is the best
Could someone please post a link to a good simhub tutorial that shows how to set up the lights on the wheel?
Hey Dan!
Is there any chance to disconnect the wheel while driving in case if you spin or such? Cuz I am planning to pair it with a Simucube and the magnet make me concerned I use mostly Weipu connectors on my Polsimer and DIY wheels. Thank you.
there is always a chance if the cable gets stuck somewhere ... but if you crash that hard the disconnected cable is probably your smallest problem :D
@user-vk7id2lc3q what I do is add secondary shift buttons so it it does all I lose is being able to shift so I set it so my shifter is secondary so if that happens I have something else to shift with for a second.
how is the wheel compared to the cube controls f-pro i.e.?
Hey Dan (and Community), thanks for the great video!
Is there a way to strap a QR on my G923 so I can get this wheel on there without upgrading everything?
Thanks a lot!
Put your money into a decent base first ... with a 300mm steering wheel you probably won't feel anything of the FFB a G923 puts out any more 😅
@@DanSuzuki thank you so much!
Looks a great wheel for the price. Where can you buy the wheelbase side QR. Say for Simucube etc?
Moza sells it for example
I have the Moza KS but I'm seriously thinking about getting this wheel. Especially after it's got the Dan Suzuki seal of approval. This has the same QR as Moza right? So it'll attach to my current hub?
correct!
I have SImagic base but it wouldn't have mattered. I know the quality Simagic puts out and sold my KS to buy this wheel. It's taking longer than it should to get to me. But I'm super stoked to get it
Do you think Simagic is going to make all of their new wheels usable on all wheelbases now?
Same Quick Disconnect that Moza uses? Interested in the wheel if it would work with my R9
Yes!
09.02. soll meins ankommen. Ich bin echt gespannt auf das Wheel.
Simagic is killing it.
So I have a moza r5 base and I've been looking at this wheel. Do I just get the mag adapter and I should be good or is there something else I need?
that's all you need. I would probably unmount the little PCB in the QR of the GT neo like I did - I don't know what the pinning of the moza QR is
A question: should I sell my GT4 Pro wheel that I bought 2 years ago and get this? I know I'll miss the aluminium feel but I'd love the new when with the new buttons and lights.
hm ... I'd say go for it, it is made out of plastic, but it still feels very nice!!
Damm Dan! I wasn't expecting that response at all! Looks like I'll have to sell it haha Thank you for the review!!@@DanSuzuki
So do people with the Asetek Invicta QR need to buy the maglink cable or can we save the expense? Does the baseplate that comes standard with the base allow us to attach the Asetek QR? If so then, like you state in your video, Asetek users can just buy a short usb-c to usb-a adapter. Please confirm
Great video btw. I like how the lights on the wheel buttons matched your background lighting. Nice touch!
yes, if you use asetek just buy a short usb cable and you're good to go - you can connect any QR to the plate - it's the same between the stock usb-c and the maglink version
Just after buying the simagic fx 😮
Sorry.. I damn nearly bought the more expensive GT4
I wonder how it compares to Moza GS GT, which I think is similar quality level.
replaced my Mclaren fanatec wheel with this one, i also have a roomate with one of the formula v2.5. He may be ordering this one and now i cant offload my mclaren on him bc he loves this one as well. It is far superior to that wheel with very similar pricing.
Is the Wheel compatible with a Moza R12 Base?
It was either a Fanatec GT3 Mclaren Replica or This one. Man Simagic got some nice Wheels.
Asetek really needs to redesign there's as I just find their Wheels look a bit too plasticy/like a toy. I dunno.
hey dan... do you mainly use the simagic qr on the sc2 pro now ? how you liking it ?
NRG QR imo is the best - you can get good wheelsides for around 35€
great vid
If they update their FX Pro model with this universal adaptor option that will sell like hot cakes!
How does this compare to the cube controls f-core?
amazing for the price
Compatible with TR300 GT Base?
What is needed if you wanna match this to a Fanatec CSL DD?
Any got a product to fit it?
The usb cable, and most likely a Fanatec QR.
edit: Turns out you also might need the Podium Hub adapter.
Is the quality of the wheel (buttons and shifter etc.) similar to the 630€ FX Wheel? I bought the fx wheel 2 months ago but now im thinking about to sell it and buy the gt neo.
No, but it’s also in a completely different price range
Can this be used with CSL-DD?
Work with all servo bases ? I have a T818 with SF1000
yep!
Wenn ich das für meine DD2 nutzen wollte, würde ja reichen ein QR1 bzw. QR2 dazu zu kaufen, weil die Connection ja über USB funktioniert, richtig?
You will need Fanatec Podium hub. That's because Fanatec
"Marketing blabla", love it :)
If I already didn’t have four wheels, I would seriously consider this one too.
Wheel you need = wheels you have + 1
@@DanSuzuki so true 😂
