I love Ed Wood dialogue. It's so bizarre and clunky, that I find myself pleasantly surprised whenever a character actually makes a coherent and linear statement.
Honestly, I find Ed Wood's "passion-projects" far better than his garbage horror flicks. I can sorta feel the effort and drive behind them, like he tried his hardest to tell a story, to make a point, explain something to us that he is concerned with and cares about, even if he doesn't do it well.
I wasn't introduced to mystery science theater until the Netflix reboot, I was so grateful to have the opportunity to watch the earlier seasons on UA-cam after it was canceled. Thanks!

I've been a fan of Joel since I became of fan MST3K, but I've grown to like Mike just as well. But I will say this, I always liked it when Joel wigged out everytime there was a movie-sign. He'd be like "OH, WE'VE GOT MOVIEEE-SIGGGGGGNN!" and Mike would be like "Oh,we've got movie-sign".
The Mad and Servo Theme songs are the best part. Great short ("He's in the zone!") and great riffing ("SAYS 'THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU'") Thanks for the upload.

If you watch any variety show from the 50s, they're just as obvious about the products they're endorsing as this short is. Entire sketches were written specifically for products. If you didn't want a half hour long commercial, you had to be watching a sitcom or a movie. Now imagine how exciting it was for The Violent Years to appear on T.V. instead of product placement jokes.

I've been a fan of Joel since I became of fan MST3K, but I've grown to like Mike just as well. But I will say this, I always liked it when Joel wigged out everytime there was a movie-sign. He'd be like "OH, WE'VE GOT MOVIEEE-SIGGGGGGNN!" and Mike would be like "Oh,we've got movie-sign".
They went directly from tipping over desks and erasing the blackboard to shooting it out with the cops.
"Boys, what's with dropping the soap up there in the tub?" "Oh mom...Alexander keeps knocking it out of my hand."
Watching Crow charge at the scream shouting "It's funny" gets me every time.
That blackboard erasing scene will give me nightmares for a long time...

If you watch any variety show from the 50s, they're just as obvious about the products they're endorsing as this short is. Entire sketches were written specifically for products. If you didn't want a half hour long commercial, you had to be watching a sitcom or a movie. Now imagine how exciting it was for The Violent Years to appear on T.V. instead of product placement jokes.

@@kylestubbs8867 Honestly, I don't know the other instance (the original MST3k ran for at least 9 seasons) but I'm sure it happened. They develop tropes for these shows and certain things always happen because they're SUPPOSED to happen by the show's internal logic.

I think it refers to being "red in the face" as one gets when angered. Since they were talking about Judy being teased, it is reasonable that giving her "the reds" refers to her getting angry and being red in the face. And with that you have my best guess, FWIW.
