Did you forget to mention it ended up with elliot smith too? Needle in the hay and something in the way maybe on the sane magical FREAKING guitar!!! What kind of strings did they use on it? If you buy a new D18 is it the same guitar?
And I thought my dream Gibson Advanced Jumbo is an expensive dream guitar 😅 Congratulations Kris! I'm happy you got to play it 😍 and hope you somehow will get it. Or a really really really good D18 😘
Haha, das war mir bewusst. 😆 Deswegen wollte ich keine “schau mal wie gut ich spielen kann” Veranstaltung machen. Grandpa ist echt krass. Genau wie sein Heritage. 💛
That was a sublime rendition of Something in the Way...after all of these years, I still listen to Nirvana almost daily and miss Kurt with a visceral aching in my soul. The only other musician that I have missed in this way is Marc Bolan. 😃
Wonderful played, Kris. One thing I wonder is, if this guitar had been played as a lefty guitar, did they chnage the bridge, or didn`t it have a compensated bridge back in 1953?
Thanks Michael! I’m pretty sure they changed the bridge saddle. And as for Kurt, I’m pretty sure he didn’t care too much about the intonation at the higher frets. He used it to write and play music and you don’t necessarily need the upper frets for that. Also, rock n roll. Right? 😝
I’m so jealous! I also watched UA-cam video of Mary Spendor playing Teen Spirit on that guitar. She did a cool Martin documentary. Check her channel out if you’re not familiar.
For sure…and as a lefty I know reversing A bridge on an acoustic requires extensive work (along with the other stuff such as the nut, etc). And didn’t the guitar sell at an auction for like 6 million? Or was that another acoustic?
Good story, lovely guitar, this D-18 is a piece of music history, sounds great, 70 years old and still a killer ! Nice playing dude !
Nice one. That rendition of it was beautiful.
💛 Thank you!
@@KrisBarocsi I second that! I would purchase that tune from you...killer!
Do you have any tabs for that version?
Yeah it drew me in. Magical tones
That definitely gives one goosebumps!
Man....what an experience. It sure sounds so dang good 👍👍👍
Wow, I'm speechless! That's a "once in your lifetime" experience. Really envy you for that... 😛
We need a tutorial on that version of the the song! Sounded awesome!
Bro was flexing on Kurt with this version
Beautiful playing
Damn, that's special!
Love the feel of your playing
Thanks so much Horschy!!
I'm so glad you got to try it Kris! It sounded amazing 😁
Thanks Daniel! I’m also glad I got to try it. 😆 And since they offered me to give it a go I wanted to share the experience with you guys. 🙌
@@KrisBarocsi haha I bet you were!! 🤣😁
Sounds fantastic Kris! Really happy for you, it's awesome that you got to play it.

I love your channel, your perspective and your playing. The tune was definitely Cobain inspired, and I was I inspired as well. Simple and beautiful.
Thanks so much! 💛
Great video and back story Kris!
damn, what a sound. i'd be floating too.
Iam so jealous Kris! I have been a huge Nirvan/Kurt Cobain fan forever. This must have been a great experience! Happy for you dude!
Thanks buddy! Yeah same here. I still remember trying to learn Nirvana songs back in 96 when I started playing the guitar. 😅
Kris!!! You are such a great guitar player!!! The guitar sounds awesome!! And what a story🙏
I didn’t know the story to that guitar. Wow, such a history behind it. Great playing Kris.
Wow...sounding so great!😲
Very cool sir, congratulations
🤗🤗
You got it. wow what a sound
There’s something in the way you played that.
Haha 👏👏
And I thought my dream Gibson Advanced Jumbo is an expensive dream guitar 😅
Congratulations Kris! I'm happy you got to play it 😍 and hope you somehow will get it.
Or a really really really good D18 😘
Dude, what an amazing job you have 😅 I’m jealous 😂
You play so soulful.
Thanks so much!! 🙏

How very cool 🤘
beautiful....
Love Martin's classic's d18,d28,d35 are my favorite
Lucky dog congrats
Epic!
Sweet!

Amazing! ✌️😎🎸 Sounds like my old Martin, well maybe a little better?
Elliot Smith played this guitar too. I wonder if Martin will release any Cobain signature model someday, they would sell like cakes.
Can you take HB TE-20 and show step-by-step how to make it string-thru on Guitar Tech Tips? :-)
Bro eas flexing on kurt with this verison
Mary Lou Lord loaned it out to Elliot Smith, after Curt had it-that guitar must have mucho mojo!
Damn you performed that song damn better than the original, could you maybe explain how you used those embellishments?
I’m so jealous! I also watched UA-cam video of Mary Spendor playing Teen Spirit on that guitar. She did a cool Martin documentary. Check her channel out if you’re not familiar.
Hey you didn’t only played on « Kurt’s guitar »…Elliot Smith played a lot on this guitar too.
Can I purchase the tabs to this?
What tuning is that?
nice
At least you didn't pull off a Kurt Russell and smash it.
Sounds awesome.
😆 no way.
Noice :)
So if Martin now has this guitar in their "museum" why would they revert it back to right handed?
I’m sure that happened already after Kurt gave it back. Martin would’ve left it how it was but they only have it for a few years.

@@mountain7777That was the Unplugged guitar.
Shame it wasn't painted in his blood. All druggies should try to lead cure.
