It is cruel, and it is nonsense to ask a question you know they can't answer, and then ask it again. Most north koreans would quickly assimilate into the real world if the regime was over thrown. There would be the militaristic ones would be hard to let live. lol.

Will Ripley made a bunch of trips to North Korea over the span of a few years, gaining the trust of his North Korean interlocutors and therefore being allowed increasingly extensive access. But after the failed Hanoi summit and the reaction to the death/murder of Otto Warmbier, the DPRK's outreach strategy changed.

There was a Canadian who was arrested for leaving a Bible . They found the Bible & called him back for punishment.

Since UA-cam blocks my links, you'll have to Google it.
Read Project 2025 & 47. & watch YOU'VE BEEN TRUMPED TOO. How he broke a water pipe to a lady who was almost 90yo b/c she refused to sell him her land for his golf course. For 5yrs she had to buy drinking water & use lake water to bathe & wash dishes. When her neighbor finally discovered what was wrong & paid to have it fixed, tRump sent papers to have him sued for messing around on his golf course land!
But as for NK, he's said he's going to put the homeless in camps & make them work. The same kind of "camps" that NK has. All these ppl he's angry at, judges & their families will gi into these "camps" unless he decides to shoot the judges, as he does retired General for TREASON.
Pls do your homework, then let me know if you disagree. I grew to dislike tRump back in '89 when he made newspaper articles wanting to execute 5 children btwn the ages of 14-16yo. They're now known as the exonerated 5 & tRump still can't apologize. The one who spent the longest in prison, now has a County Seat in NY. 💙😾😼😻💙

I have seen a bunch of Documentations about North Korea and one thing that always seems to happen that needs to stop is:
The interviewer always asks the citizens those questions that will get them into trouble. You can see it on their faces on just how uncomfortable it is for them, cause they know, if they don't repeat what they were told, they will get into **HUGE** troubles that we might not be able to imagine.
Please stop asking the citizens those questions. Maybe leave it at a single one and move on. The citizens are not at fault for this. But they will pay the price if they give the 'wrong' answer, which is what you want to hear, with them saying something positive about 'their enemy'. They cannot answer those questions freely but we keep pressing the issue with every single interview. I think that is wrong.

I suspect the farmer who said she wanted to go to the US probably really wanted to just visit and talk to its citizens about her understanding of them and ask why they want to hurt the people of the DPRK. However she knew the risk she was taking and so rounded off with the usual propaganda. How sad for these people.

There is a difference between a culture and a cult of personality. Underneath the cult of personality is a culture that is consistent with the Southeast Asian heritage. Things like filial piety, drawing a sense of identity from the group as opposed to the individual, and so on. These expressions of culture have been appropriated and instrumentalised by the regime to serve its purposes. That being said I thought it was more horrible than this documentary shows. I thought there was barely, if any, entertainment. I thought it focused most of ita energies on production. To see arcades (even though those arcades had ulterior motives), rock climbing, rowing, etc. was surprising. When yhey got out of Pyongyang was more what I expected from the whole country. Even then there were places to dine out. Im not sure how much use these places get without journalists there but the kids didnt seem like they were doing anything out of the norm. Interesting. That is not to say things are fine there its just there is more personal enjoyment in life than I expected.
