I've got a theory that she may have an addiction problem. She is 100 percent either drunk or medicated in this interview I'm not making a guess I'm stating it as a fact, she is under the influence of something. Which leads me to believe she probably has an addiction problem of some and she probably sees Ed as her way of maintaining that addiction without ruining her life. And I know some would argue she is ruining her life by being with Ed but keep perspective that if you are willing to do literally anything to maintain an addiction you can ruin your life in much worse ways. Like Ken said there is something wierd or off about the whole dynamic of their relationship and I think that could be it.

He is even more vile than you would suspect...the way he talked to her was terrible. And verbally abusive! She didn’t defend after she she saw what went on behind the scenes during the Tell All. I’m hesitant to throw out the word abuser, but after listening to that leaked phone call he is definitely abusing her. She needs to get away from him and she REALLY needs to get her daughter away from him. Like the way he took this beautiful young woman and made her feel like she has to grovel to earn his affection makes me sick.
I was too and that phone call was the tip of the ice berg. Now, all of Rose's outbursts and talk about him seriously made sense, and I find it sad that she most likely experienced it before and that's why she's able to have confidence and leave him, but Liz was literally taken just right after her previous break-up. Seriously, this even looks like Stockholm syndrome where Liz praises Ed for one basic nice thing because it's one of the only positive thing she's gotten so far, and feels that she should be committed because of that achievement as a reward to him. I also can't deny that television is probably pressuring her to continue this despite all odds, not because of the money but because people will be disappointed. Money could always be a reason but in her case, it really looks like it's not the major reason at all.

@@theonlybilge If we're going for the overall situation, it definitely isn't Stockholm syndrome, and I might've exaggerated a lot about that part. All I know is that the effects laying on Liz and the format in that syndrome have parallels, though the only reason it has parallels is because both cases have abusers and manipulators. So while Ed didn't kidnap Liz, he was definitely showing kindness just to justify his awful actions, and to Liz these awful actions should be something to bare since simply because she saw kindness, she'll hang onto that.
Also, I want to ask, isn't Stockholm syndrome a cope or psychological response from a victim, either to a captor or abuser? By saying self preservation, you're practically saying that the victim had a sense of consciousness and is manageable with themselves, when the whole point of this syndrome is being mentally unhealthy?

Ed is a classic abusive person, gaslights, manipulates, beats Liz down and then when she's at the end of her tether pretends to love and care for her, doesn't let her speak, is verbally abusive to her, and the fact that she defends Ed and keeps returning to him is sadly very very normal for victims of domestic abuse. I mean, Liz was (according to the shows narrative) made homeless with her daughter when Ed bulldozed her boundaries repeatedly and pushed her into living with him. Even if physical violence isn't a risk she has to face, him being that controlling can be intimidating. She might actually believe that she is the bad guy in their relationship if he insists it often enough. Especially if he tells other people and they believe him.

After listening to that phone call, it's pretty clear that Liz is in an abusive relationship and is scared of Big Ed. I knew he was an asshole, but I didn't know it was that bad.
I can figure out as much. The red flags were everywhere, like how supportive Ed's supports were in encouraging him talking to Liz after stalking her during her shifts. How they belittled her rights when she was dating Ed. How Ed *demanded* her to "sort her priorities" when she clearly has a very young daughter. Not to mention that he pressured her to move in with him under the reason of him having "detachment anxiety" whatsoever.
And now, we found out he used that to 'punish' her everytime she has a say in their arguments, by kicking her out everytime she is not 'behaving'. And then blaming her for his own uncontrollable "anxiety". At this point, Liz looked very dumb for defending him, even after knowing how harsh he s towards her.
As a victim of two 2 year long abusive relationships, I have gone to real therapy and its common for victims to be in toxic relationship after toxic relationship because its all normalized. If you listen to the leaked call, it brought me back to my abuse and I hope Liz gets the help she needs. The way she acts here is out of fear.
