Captain Karnage I would argue Star Fox, Mario & Luigi Paper Jam (I know Paper Mario has a lot to prove to us after Sticker Star, but M&L doesn't) Xenoblade Chronicles X and SMT x FE (I know, I know, but I like how cinematic it looks and the reinvention of each FE character is really cool to me) as being very good as well. Nintendo's E3 presentation wasn't *bad*, it just wasn't really E3 calibur... and I will finally admit that MP:FF was a dick move now that I'm over my indignation at all the haters.
cheese4g Honestly, last year's Digital Event was a tough act to follow. Sony blew everyone out of the water this year. I like to think of it as last year's Splatoon being this year's Last Guardian and FF7...

Actually it does look like the pre promoted characters are going to be kinda useful as a Famitsu scan showed a maid which is a promoted class at level 40. But giving Gunter the kill is a bit stupid tho.

Just skip through the dialogue. It's not like we actually want to see it or anything.

***** Because they want to show the gameplay and they do only have a small block of time to dedicate for each game. Besides, you can always go back and rewatch and pause to get the dialogue (unless they skipped the cutscene).
You know, the thing that sucks is that, the decision you make isn't even in game, but at the store when you decide which game to buy... It would have been much better and more dramatic if they gave you the option in game in one version.
That's why I'm hoping for a special edition that lets you choose comes to America.

Yes the two games are completely different but still they shouldn't act like they're giving us a choice when your locked into your decision depending on which game you buy.

I agree, I'm glad they were able to get a word in after awhile, with the presenters cutting in and talking over then about gameplay I thought they wouldn't get a chance to speak. Very passionate both sides are.

Captain Karnage It is already confirmed all versions are the same. The only difference is, some versions are in different languages. Unless you are new to Emblem, this is always done.

Well... censorship was in FE:A, for example in dialogue or in relationship (Lucina & Owain were considered partners, not as husband & wife, due to the fact that they're cousins) or in some scenes (the infamous Tharja censor)
I both love AND hate the fact that you have to make such a monumental decision in this game, do you choose the family that raised you and help to turn a war like people into a more peace loving family from the inside, or choose the peace loving people you are tied to by blood and fight the war like people.
Damn that decision is going to be hard.
mouseno4 I am absolutely horrible at making choices! i want the game to make all my choices for me, or for there to be only a slight change if i choose something, but at the same time something like this really appeals to me, cause from the moment i heard about it every time i see more of it i keep changing my decision on which side to choose, i can guarantee it'll take me at least a week before choosing a side when i get the game XD
Just buy both versions like me. No choice necessary.

CometX-ing FE games are typically very text heavy so that might be why.
CometX-ing Remember thier basically localizing 2 very different versions of the same game, it probably takes longer than you expect it to.

Not only does every line of text need to be directly translated from Japanese to English, but a whole team of English writers needs to essentially re-write the dialogue so that it makes sense and is entertaining in English. It's the difference between feeding Japanese text through Google translate and asking what a Japanese sentence means from someone who is fluent in Japanese and English.
Also, the localization team needs to make sure that the text fits within the dialogue boxes (Japanese writing is typically more condensed than English writing -- on average, each character in Japanese is about 1.5-2 words in English).
On top of that, all the voiced dialogue -- including the grunts and groans -- needs to be translated, a voice actor/actress needs to be selected, and the dialogue must be re-recorded in the localized language (which can take a good chunk of time to get the best take).
And finally, any localized edits need to be deliberated and put in. For example, the curtain covering Tharja in the swimsuit shot in the Summer Scramble in the North American version, and the "Tharja's jiggly bits" dialogue being changed in the European version.

Jesus, even after all that has been announced people still complaining about so much stuff about the game. So what if the game is being split in EU/US? So what if they added an amie functionality to the game? So what if you have to pay if you want to experience the other side of the story? Just constant bitching. If your a true Fire Emblem fan, the only thing you should be complaining about is how everyone besides Japan has to wait a year to play this amazing game.

Calvin Dang Because you get what you pay for. It's also not buying the game twice, it's not even half to buy the other part, it's 15$ when they could have easily charged 20$ for the other path. Yeah, 10$ would have been great, but they went with the middle ground and charged a reasonable 15$. Ill say it again, you get what you pay for. 15$ to experience the other complete side of the game, which has been emphasized so many times be Nintendo that each side is as big as a normal fire emblem game, is completely reasonable. I'm fine with people saying ''Wow that might be a little too much, but im going to get it anyway because it's going to be a great game that im going to thoroughly enjoy''. It's just people who outright refuse to buy this game because they think its too expensive for what it is, or they don't like some small features about it.

Calvin Dang Well since pretty much every new released ds game is 40 dollars, it's going to be 40$ for the game. Even converting the price for it in japan it rounds up to 40 US dollars. With the other routes, those from Japanese Yen round to 15$, so it's going to be standard 40$ for the game, and 15$ for the 2nd route.
Just for reference: Game costs 4700 Yen in Japan, which in US currency is around 38.0310$
Each path costs 2000 Yen, which when converted is around 16.1834$
And yes it has been confirmed by Nintendo and other sources that it is going to be 40$+15$ for both the game and the other route.
Well, like everyone else you are entitled to your opinion, and as long as you don't get on people for not liking how this game is being sold, then all is good.
Calvin Dang do also keep in mind that each game supposedly has enough content to warrant a separate version. so you're getting your money's worth if you just buy 1 game. if you buy both ($40+$15), you're getting more than your money's worth since you're effectively getting 2 games (or 1.75) worth of content for less than 1.5x the cost. if they had both routes within 1 game at just $40, you're getting way too much for your money's worth

This makes me very upset. The game is already finished and will release in japan in a week, and apparently the localization is finished as well, yet we have to wait *over six months* to get this game in NA. Why does nintendo do this
Heropon Ike It's not finished. As you saw here, at least the "My Castle" part isn't translated, and it sounded as though (at least in the build they're using) that none of the voice acting has been translated.
Heropon Ike Localization is far from finished, especially if you saw the My Castle footage. I imagine they have a fair bit done but probably aren't even close.
Heck, they didn't even have the English voices in this stream, so they're not too far in.

In Japan, that's how it works for the digital version:
Buy the game.
Play up to the decision point.
You decide in your mind which side you want to side with.
You now get to download one or the other route for the digital version for no extra cost as its already paid for with the purchase of the game.
See the aftermath of your choice play out.
You can buy the other route as DLC thereafter.

Wow, Fire Emblem has gotten a pretty big facelift since Awakening. I mean, Awakening was a really good-looking Fire Emblem game, but this game just looks better. I think it has to do with the polygon count in the models and the lighting. It just looks better.
Honestly, if Nintendo hadn't split their announcements into literally 3 different presentations over this month, Nintendo's PC would have been great.

It is not a choice. If they are going to release this game as two versions, they have to release a demo.
Aside from that, the FE: Awakening Demo was what got me into Fire Emblem Awakening. I saw the Demo on the EShop, thought "why not?", downloaded it, then freaked out for an hour. I bought the game at launch then got my entire circle of friends into that masterpiece. *_It is great advertising._*

Oh sweet heart of mine the hype for this game is real for me I really hope that is not the default Kamui the black hair really looks off in comparison to the white hair and also I hope Corrin is not his/her default name either.
In my opinion for the hard copy of the game they should let you play up to chapter 6 in order to be able to make the choice based on story elements and behavior of characters and not force you to choose in the store without any background to the characters.
Then when you choose either side, it locks you in that path and later you can buy the other path at a discounted price (around 15-20 dollars)
That's done in the digital version
They keep talking about a "choice" around chapter 6. I honestly wish they just came out and confirmed if they are doing the two versions thing in NA.

I really wish that she would have gone through the dialogue at a set pace. There were times when it was on something for a really long time, and there were times when she was mashing the A button and skipping dialogue I really wanted to read. I had to pause the video at many points just so I could go to the split second and read what the characters were saying.
The game seems finished.... And it's gonna release in Japan in not too long. But why do you need to spend time doing the English dubs? D: You could get this game released by Nov./Dec. if you just translated it. I don't wanna wait another year!

The game has alot of potential to PvP battle, but nintendo insists in not providing one, when CLEARLY WOULD INCREASE THE REPLAY VALUE OVER 9000.

So i recently picked up a pre-order for the Special Edition for Australia, that comes with a cardboard box, art book and 2 of the 3 campaigns on the one card. Nabbed it for $99 from EB Games Australia.
Like this is you have the Special Edition on pre-order! Because (like the NoA NDirect guy said) you have to have it all!
Going to be a touch 3 month wait, as i already know most of the major points in the story. Lets face it, in the age of the internet, social media and instant news, it is all but impossible to avoid spoilers. If, lets say for example, Elise commits suicide if you choose Hoshido (no that does not happen so relax), i guarantee someone will not be happy about it. And when someone is not happy, they make sure the world knows it. Unfortunately, that means those who do not have the game yet, must suffer knowing that Elise will commit suicide at some point, spoiling the surprise and full effect of the event.
Either at the end the guy was just rushing or he don't know fire emblem, I think it's the latter

Localization is a long way off. This is very early in the process, as the 2016 vague release date shows.

That first battle I think the lady made a few mistakes. I'd never send ahealer into melee form like that unless i knew it would end in a kill and her being free from harm. Also I don't agree with letting the Great Knight soak up all the exp the Lord coulda used haha. Not calling her bad since I'm sure we've all derped and made it cost us a character and a chapter restart
