  • We've covered the basics, we've primed our pads, we've determined the right combo of products using a test spot. Now it is time to get down to the application. In this chapter of BigFoot 101 we'll talk you through, then show you (without cuts or timelapse) a real-time application of the system and result.

    Rupes has by far the best system for paint correction, Tools, pads, compounds IMO blows away the rest. I use all of their products, and I have done lots of A/B testing with other really good products. Rupes produces the best results.

    That half of the bonnet did Jason break it down to 6 or 8 sections also roughly how long in time for half a bonnet

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  3 роки тому +3

      If memory serves accurate, Jason was able to polish half the bonnet in 5 - 6 sections. A complete polishing cycle or application (remember the definition video) can be completed in 30-45 seconds as seen in the video. The D-A System in combination with proper techniques works FAST!
      Taking the long end (45 seconds) x 6 sections = 4 minutes 30 seconds of machine time. If we add in another handful of minutes for product wipe off, pad reloading, and pad cleaning (very important), it would be a safe assumption that 1/2 the bonnet was completed in under 8 minutes.

    Is 2 section passes per application area your standard operating procedure? I’ve been using my Rupes (or any other DA polisher for that matter) by doing 5-6 section passes per application area.

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  3 роки тому +7

      As a starting point, yes! What many technicians don't realize is that their longer application (additional section passes) in SOME situations is not adding any benefit. In some cases it actually takes the finish backwards; meaning at somewhere around 2-3 section passes they hit the sweet spot. Defects are gone, finish is clear. However, the additional 3-4 section passes take the finish back a step by creating a haze or pad mark. They wouldn't know because you can't see the surface progression through the compound residue. If you happen to encounter a very haze prone finish, try shortening your application by a couple of passes. Sometimes that is the only adjustment needed. If you do please share it here with us!

    i didn't hear in any lesson about cleaning the pad ,how offten you clean the pad , after any section ? after cleaning your pad very good with compressor air , should you prime again the pad or not? i think those 2 thing are very important too..i'm just saying..thanks in advance for your reply !!!

      Thanks for your comment. Here is a video on pad cleaning: ua-cam.com/video/SNdSdbtWdyk/v-deo.html Priming the pad is only recommended when starting with a brand new pad or a previously used clean, dry pad. It's to get the material to operating temperature, spread the compound on the fibers and prepare it for peak performance during the job. During the application process after cleaning with an air compressor, just reload and continue. Hope that helps!

    I know that this has nothing to do with the video I had a quick question how do I become IDA Certified do I have to go to a detail in school to become certified first then join the IDA how does this work because I can’t really find any ideas or videos on this since I see you are on the board that’s why I ask

    • @TKTampa
      @TKTampa 3 роки тому +2

      Join the IDA to become a member from there you can take the CD tests online. Once completed the next step would be to get skills validated (another in person test) . You can find this all on the IDA website. Good luck!

      You can learn all about IDA certification on the IDA website. RUPES is a prominent member of the IDA, a member of the founders club, and many of our staff members serve on the board and various IDA committees. It is a worthwhile investment in yourself, your business, and the industry.
