with the "rescue Raven" mission, and the mad cat/Timber Wolf, when I played this long ago, I was able to get the mech, however, playing it recently for fun, I'd gang up on it, or hit the fuel tanks didn't get me the salvage.....(going on three/four times now)
It's funny to think about the intro movie - Cmdr. Harrison is doing his job, making sure their landing zone is clear, and his CO is just rush rush rush, all gung ho. Clearly she's from Steiner and he's from Davion. Poor Hardcase, though - he didn't even get to fire a shot before he got blitzed. Dude shouldn't have been riding a Hunchback, but I'm sure if the CO had her druthers he would have been in an Urbie. I would have put him in something a little more suitable, like a Centurion or Vindicator, something that could take a hit and not go critical right off the bat. Hunchies are glass cannons, even the Clans despised them. Being assigned to one is considered punishment detail.
@@Scorch0017 That sounds right. While I love the AC 20, the ammo has always been a problem. Between you and me, I'd rather ride a Hunchback than a Hollander any day. As great as the gauss rifle is, it's not good enough to be the sole weapon system on a mech. The Hunchback at least has medium lasers for backup. It's not much but at least it can keep fighting when the ammo runs out.
I love hunchbacks and I would say HB II are the glass cannons, but other than that, my HBs pack a nice punch for their size currently playing MW5 for the 10th time, waiting for the next DLC coming this sept
The lance's mission AO was a city, you'd be mad NOT to bring a Hunchback. Plus there was a Centurion in the lance already so no need for two. Also looked like Hardcase took a bit of a beating, most likely losing his torso armour, before he sensibly ejected probably understanding he didn't have a chance in hell of closing and putting to use his AC after taking such fire from long range. Also wouldn't the CO sound German if she was from Steiner?
I downloaded MCG ResolutionEXEPack from ModDB, after some experimenting choosed 1080p one and used zoom function in the game to get the highest quality sprite work and movable camera. Though, the side scrolling is still unresponsive in some areas.

@@Scorch0017 thanks2 i got the ending and is it just it ??? like we dont get any credits score or somthing at all and booted off the game after the mechcommander title shows up ?
Judging by the manual, enemy mechs would have more armor and damage points. Also, while playing on Hard, I get the impression, that my pilots become less accurate, while enemies scored hits more oftenly.
@@Scorch0017 I think the best way to play it is on normal, but I do play it on hard just for the challenge. Mechcommander is one of my all time fav game ever
Why is the interface icons so small? Can hardly see anything. And you have to run fast up to the hollander and keep close to it. You were so lucky you didn't get a pilot or two killed.
Because the game was runned in 1080p, that's the thing with the old games. I ordered them to run to the holllander, as you can see, but the mechs can't accelerate instantly in this game, especially uphill. That was enough for hollander to cripple one of my mechs with the first shot, and while I tried to select the last two, he crippled another. Nevertheless, it added some drama.
@@123TauruZ321 The plan was to wait, until Hollander came to the forest edge, putting itself at the close range with my light mechs. When I decided to take the chances and rush it, Lynx stuck behind and received a crippling shot.
At that time I didn't know the right way, how to eject pilot with the hotkey. Turns out it wasn't necessary to sacrifice the Mech at all, since Mad Cat will lose interest and stop, if you move the bait further to the north near the river.

@@Scorch0017 It's called the MadCat. And it is absolutely possible to get it without sacrificing a pilot. You get it's attention, then run away. It will eventually run back into it's position, but not entirely, you will be able to see it and then drop airstrikes on it. You can also fight it toe to toe, keep your mechs right up against it, you may lose one or two but it's worked 90% of the times for me.
@@123TauruZ321 Ok, I've replayed this moment and immediately parked Hawk near the river behind the hill just at the edge of the Timber Wolf's sensor range (I will insist on the original Clans name).
