Theres a dude from my country (Argentina) who tested it, and said this are shit because he has an aggressive picking attack and he says whenever he plays hard the signal cuts off. Did this happened to you?
Nice review ! For the tone i found a little part to place between the guitar and the wireless..... a Radial Dragster (you attach it to the strap). I own an NUX 5-BRC, a Swiff audio and a Lekato WS-50. No tone difference between a cable or a wireless kit. And no difference between those wireless kit too !
Good, honest, thorough and useful review! Better than some of the other sponsored and clearly biased reviews I have seen on YT. Lekato must have listened because there are other color options nowadays and I tested the blue/purplish version yesterday. I compared the WS70 with a variety of other slightly more expsenive systems (Line6 G10, XVive U2, Swiff WS50, Lekato WS50), and this was unfortunately the worst of them all in my opinion when it comes down to the audio quality and noise level, especially when playing clean and subtle notes. It would introduce more white noise while playing than with any of the other systems.. And to me it felt like there was a bit of a lack of dynamics when playing clean due to its gating effect. I would lose systain and also some of the subtle notes were just cut off. I’ve read from some other users complaining about that too. It is however a nice affordable system and fairly well built I think. Plus it is great that it was the only wireless system of the ones that i mentioned before that will play well with active EMG’s. So there are definitely pros and cons with the WS70. Mine is however going back for a refund. I am still curious about the Lekato WS90 and the Nux C5-RC. Really hoping to find a system under $160 with proper dynamics, low noise level and also compatible with active pickups. Hoping that the Nux C5-RC will fit that bill.
I sold my WS-70 and baught the WS-50. I found that altho the WS-70 is good in terms of signal frequency, it sucks your tone so much (only has 86db dymanic range). The WS-50 which has true 110db, much closer to real cable tone. I play aggressively that's why I noticed immediately the volume dip when using the WS-70. Its as if the signal/output is compressed. Unlike the WS-50 which sounds so full and rich. Even compared it to my Mogami cable and the WS-50 tone is so close. The only downside is it runs on 5.8ghz which is not so bad 😅
Perhaps that's what I encountered, bcuz I returned my Swiff WS-70 two weeks after trying it out. The hiss while not playing and hiss at every string stroke became evident and annoying. So I may just go (If anything) with the WS-50.
Interesting post. I have the SWIFF WS-70. Notice a marginal tone reduction vs cable but not so much as to find it critical for practice, respecting it might present a consideration for public gig performance. That said, playing Gretsch Filter'Trons and encumbered with unavoidable presbycusis although my hearing frequency range still tests well above average for age. What I'm hearing between cable and wireless with that demonstrated metal trash is a difference in (bandwith limited) saturation. Wondered why SWIFF was retailing both WS-70 and WS-50 concurrently. Size notwithstanding, appears its worth paying the premium for the WS-50 for some.
@@MusicMinisterJP7 No idea what you're talking about with hiss with the WS-70. Ackowledged the OPs reference to the diminished frequency range disparity between the 70 & 50, but I don't experience any discernible white noise with my WS-70 (SWIFF)? Perhaps look elsewhere in your chain for the cause?
@@theblytonian3906 Well, really there's nowhere else to look, noise isn't there when I use the cable, but there when I used the Swiff WS-70. I returned it for peace of the heart ❤.
I have just bought one of these systems as my old Ammoon system has given up the ghost most prob the battery has had it although it has done me for over 6 years, The tone seems to be a lot brighter with the Lakato but i will see at band practice tomorrow what its like.
I saw many reviews on amazon claims this device to have quite much of compression, heavy gate causing shorter sustain and low signal volume issues, did you find it true? Also is it possible that you test what frequency band are they operating on? I saw different claims all around the internet, some claim 500-550mhz, 550-600, 900 and so on.
From what I remember of this unit, there wasn't a loss in sustain, but more so on the high end loss of tone. I can't recall the frequency band it runs on due to the fact I gave this unit to a friend in need of a wireless unit and he really liked it.
Some people on Amazon dismounted the device and one found the spec of the uC used. The Input is connected to the internal AD of the CPU and this is 10bit (!). If this is true, there is no wonder that there is a lot of tone loss in this device. I do not know if this is right, but this would be an explanation.
I was just starting to look for a wireless setup. Finnaly 😃 I can show my wife I'm not the only one with a collection of Ibanez guitars! Really enjoying the content my Dude. Echo Hard! "Doc"
From your latency tests I couldn't ear latencies differences, but I've heard different compression levels on rhythm tone & clean tone from my studio monitors
How was it? Still good after some years of use? I have issues with my tone using our stage 15meters cable.. so instead of upgrading to Mogami cable, I thought why not try these cheap wireless instead since it’s on same budget. By the way- from your effects the receiver is plugged into a DI box? or direct to Mixer (bypass DI). Thanks! BTW- you look like Cisco @the Flash series Netflix 😅
The unit still works, but I mainly use this around the house. I mainly use a Line 6 Relay rackmount as my primary wireless live. The setup I was using in this video was Axe Fx 3 direct to my computer for recording, and the Lekato straight in.
You don't lose tone through a wireless like you would do with a long cord, and even if you did you would just need a buffered pedal at the beginning of your chain. But I have noticed the BOSS in particular doesn't sound nearly as good as others.
I'm playing electric oud and it's using Fishman saddle active pickup and I love to play actively running around and with cables, it's such a mess, it always get to tied up with my feet so I really need this. Since some people already said it works with active pickups, I'll give it a try xD
Sorry for the late reply! Unfortunately, I don't believe we are recording anything let alone being a band anymore. I'd hate to say it's official here, but I would hope someday they would make an official statement to let the fans know.
I do notice a slight drop in volume or gain in the signal with these. Do you think running a MXR micro amp or a JHS clover will add back the loss in volume or gain with these?
I have one. It's not that good. It passes a signal ok, but it's quite attenuated compared to my three other wireless systems and a cable. It also does a weird thing to the attack of my notes. It seems to heavily limit/compress the peaks in an undesireable way. It's ok for practicing or teaching, but not live performance IMO.
I remember when you had that X2, before Line6 bought'em. Crazy how small they've gotten. I'd be curious if there's a "new technology" wireless that's less plastic and not glued together with less tone coloration. Maybe the Boss ones?
I have one of these and it definitely sucks A LOT of tone and feel. If you're trying to get a specific sound live you should dial everything in with this in the chain. If you go to a gig thinking it's going to sound like your rig sounds when you connect with a cable you will not be happy.
OR at least I thought it was: I ordered this one on Amazon, at first I was more into the fascination of its functionality, to notice anything. However, after 3 weeks I experienced the hiss or fuss others have mentioned. I first tried it on my Fender G-DEC junior amp using my Fender stratocaster pro II and immediately the treble hiss was noticeable and annoying. Then I tried it at church on my Marshall AVT 275 and at first I wasn't noticing the hiss bcuz I was more for hoping all would be fine. (I was currently using a Shure UT4 wireless guitar system). But on the 3rd week, during worship practice, the hiss/fussbecame very noticeable and annoying. I switched back the cable, and all was quiet and true tones were heard again. So I returned it
I just came back from a tour where I was using an older but higher end wireless unit Shure ur4d+ and some buildings just had bad RF and generated a little hiss in my sound. I guess it's the give and take of going wireless haha but direct cable will generate the purest sound!
Hi dude! Whats difference between Ws-80 (2,4 Ghz) and Ws-70 (uhf) , Whats the diff between UHF and 2,4Ghz ? Whats the better for the live stage? tell me plz
In a nutshell, the 70 is going to be a little better. it has better range and it's on UHF, the main downside is battery life is half of what the 80 does, but it has a shorter range. There's many articles out there between UHF vs 2.4 Ghz but I hope this helps out!
I'm returning the one I bought. The muddy tone and volume drop are unacceptable. I played three guitars through three amps. Same result. Did A-B-C comparison with Xvive, Brian Fay wireless, and a good cable. The difference was very clear: the Lekato was the loser, by far. It has some good features, but if it doesn't sound good, it's not worth buying.
Dec 2022. Bought one of these. Garbage. Can’t even use it in my apt sitting next to the amp. Lower volume and the high notes glitch and cut out. Very disappointed. Back they go.
Still going strong! very surprised with it, especially for the price. My friend has one of those Xvive wireless units that he swapped for one of these.
If you're just using it to amplify the Roland, it should work just as long as you have either a 1/4 output but the eq will vary the sound. If you want no eq, you can use the aux input on the little guy.
ALL digital devices that transfer audio compress the signal. It is the only way possible to send a dependable signal audio situation. Everything done to create the best signal has been done by the Smartphone industry. In short literally billions spent. I find it humorous that for example todays demo showed that the cable gave the sound a more open sound and the wireless sound was tight and defined. The same guy that gets angry about not having the open sound is often the first guy to put on his compressor to tighten the sound when he plays clean, LOL.
I recently picked these up. They work with active pickups for those wondering.
Thank you.
