    35 days of Keto for the first time ever. Started 2nd January 2025 now 8th February and 8kg or 17.5 lbs gone. So easy and loving the food choices. No More than 20g of carbs a day and focus on more fat than protein. Take MCT in 3 black coffees and don’t eat before noon finish before dark. Ideally eat within 4 hours total. I am amazed - not felt this good since a teenager.
    Another 15kg to go and I know I will. That’s another 37 lbs to go.
    So happy. It really works. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I went to my doctor last year and did bloodwork and it came back with high cholesterol. He immediately recommended that I start statins. I track every single thing that I eat, and I went back and looked at it and saw that the night before I had eaten two pulled pork sandwiches for dinner.I did my blood work that day and a week later my blood work came back perfect. Monday and Tuesday then Wednesday off
      Thursday Friday and the weekend off works well for most people . muscle groups you train on Monday you train again on Thursday
      and Tuesdays muscles you train again on Friday so your muscles have at least 3 days of rest
      obviously you can choose your own days but trust me this will make a world of difference

I eat once a day on none workout days and twice a day on heavy weight lifting day but keep the two meals within a 7 hour period. I also try and squeeze in two 24hr+ fast a week. @ 4lbs is roughly the weight of a decent poop. You can't burn away 4lbs by being stationary nor burn it by wildly exercising for 24 hours straight. Be sure to only weigh yourself after defecating and urinating and before drinking fluids, in the morning or you'll come to a conclusion like that.
      Example, a 35yo male who is 250lbs who doesn't eat for 24 hours while continuously exercising for 24 hours would lose 1.5-2.5lbs. It's metabolically impossible for any human to lose 4lbs by sleeping. In order for someone to lose 4lbs by both not eating and continuously exercising for 24 hours they'd have to weigh approx 1000lbs.

    Fantastic discussion. Here's my story, if anyone cares: For 5 years I was on a rollercoaster of weight loss. I would go on a keto diet and included intermittent fasting - and even full 24-48 hour fasting several times a month. I'd lose 5 lbs (and keep it off) every time I did a 48-hour fast. It was awesome, but came at a price. The problem was, doing this was unsustainable for me. So, I'd fall off the wagon and gain it all back (at the time I didn't understand my addiction to high-carb foods). 7 months ago, I was talking to my brother (who has never been anything but thin), and I asked him how he stays so thin. He said his diet for decades has been focused on mostly eating protein. He had to do it because of his Crohn's disease, but a benefit of that diet is that he doesn't gain weight. Since that conversation, I've taken what I've learned about the keto diet and adjusted it to make it sustainable for me. I eat when I'm hungry, but I only eat low carb. I concentrate on protein and fat. I'd even venture that my caloric intake has not changed from my average American junk diet. I eat a lot calories in the form of fat. This isn't a weight loss diet, it's just how I eat now. I also decided not to step on a scale for 6 months. At six months I did and found I had lost 22 lbs. No exercise. No changes except what I was eating. Though at times I can feel my addiction to high-carb foods, I also find that I feel that addiction most when I'm bored. So, I find things to do and I don't think about it anymore. While the weight loss is nice, the biggest improvement is my brain. I am NEVER tired in the middle of the day anymore. I used to find myself dozing off at my desk at work everyday around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. This never happens anymore. I also sleep better too. In general, I find my mind is much more sharp than it used to be.

      The way you describe it, it sounds like you are on a more extreme ketogenic diet now, closer to carnivore and that's working for you. One of the things about carnivore is that many people find it easier to stay on as it simplifies things. You no longer need to worry about how many carbs do this or that vegetable or fruit have. They are all off limits.

Scrambled 4-6 eggs made with clarified real butter will give you energy for many hours. Add good blue cheese as Gorgonzola to beaten eggs and make fantastic omelette. Do not snack - ever. Drink much water and coffee. Eat green vegetables. Forget rice, flour (any), potatoes and other foods with starch. Starch breaks into sugar in minutes inside the stomach. This is amazing especially for me when migraine was mentioned. Skip the sweet breakfast and shift to a savoury breakfast and so no glucose spike will take place and I immidiately had less headache and migraines at Noon. When I take too much sugar still today around 30 minutes later I will develop a headache . So I skipped all added sugar and feel so much better also in energy level.

    At 1:41:39 Steven says, "Fat dropped off my body like I've never seen in my life." And that was after being on a Keto diet for "a couple of weeks." That is what sold it for me. Before watching this podcast I thought I'd never try a Keto diet because I could never accept severe restrictions on carbohydrates for long. I'm now willing to try it for at least 4 weeks. Maybe it can help me lose the last 10kg I wanted to lose when I started on Ozempic, but has stubbornly remained as I have plateaued over the last few months.

    • @3419651
      @3419651 15 годин тому

      Good luck! One thing about the Keto diet that I love is Keto food gets boring and is very satiating so you just don't want to keep eating. All of the chemical action going on in your body is amazing but don't forget it'll change your behaviours and relationship with food. Yes, so much food is delicious and I miss it... But I also miss drinking booze all the time and doing drugs! Unhealthy delicious food is a drug and the sooner you remove pleasure from eating, the healthier you become. I still allow a cheat meal here and there just like I still have a few drinks and smoke the occasional joint.

      Not sure how Keto will work during or after Ozempic. However, I thought I could not do it but started 2nd January OBESE 90kg small female - February 8 th now 82kg - 1kg a week gone or 2.2lbs a week minimum. Sticking to never more than 20g carbs per day and never eating before noon and never after dark. It’s working for me. I really hope it works for you too. 👏🏻👏🏻

    To be honest, as these podcasts are long, I usually cherry-pick the parts that interest me most using the time stamps. But not this time. The guest, Ben Bikman, was such a good communicator that I watched the whole thing, hanging on his every word. Great, well-explained subject matter, put forward in a humble, respectful way with just the right amount of science. Exceptional.

    In the US there are so many chemicals in the food supply from pesticides to antibiotics and GMO products it's practically impossible to avoid. Fresh Whole Foods are more expensive than the cheap chemically altered crap. School lunches in the US have deteriorated, exponentially in quality and we're seeing more childhood obesity. I would love to hear a podcast, addressing these issues.
