Whatever traumatised willow. It was a man who hurt him. In his stable. Willow is just protecting himself. Xx obviously been hurt and short of food. The only person i know who could correct willows stable behaviour is Steve Young Horsemanship Karen. Check out Steve's you tube channel. Thing is if you get ill. Someone else will have to look after willow. Steve young is incredible. At giving horses thier trust back. In a gentle but firm way. Natural hirsemanship...xxx

Steve young comes to Horsemanship Live each year.( lives in Wales)At Bury Farm.
Another Absolutely Amazing horseman is.Ali Kahn A2i Equestrian. ( lives Bedford)
Ali has just been given an Honory award from The BHS. For his service to horses.
Very gentle kind man. Amazing horseman..
Just for the ground work in out of Stable...Willow loves and respects you Karen...But clearly does not trust any one else. Especially men.
Both Steve young and Ali khan are natural horsemanship experts...Sorted many horses out. Much worse than Willow..not using any force. Just horsemanship skill. Gentle but firm...i have seen Steve transform horses. Behaviour. The horses always love Steve Young...No matter how dominant. Or grumpy. Biting agressive or kicking...Steve transforms horses lives. Gives them back thier faith and confidence in people. Such a lovely man. Has loads of video's on you tube....Amazing trainer rider...❤❤

This was such a fascinating listen - it hurts your heart to think he may very well have had a rough start to life which has resulted in his stable behaviour. He definitely struck gold finding a loving home with you - you’ve done a phenomenal job with him and are very clearly his person. ❤️

Thank you, he’s such an amazing horse and I can’t understand why anyone could do anything nasty to any horse,
He’s taught me so much as an owner, and rider, I owe him everything 💜 his trainable attitude and willingness to learn is what has made me move up the showing levels so quickly,
Nothing would make me prouder then qualifying for royal international with my best boy 🥰 x

❤ i totally agree with you over willow. I know this is an old video but i have a bit of advice. I have a horse who was dangerous very much like willow. But also on the ground in and out of the stable. Brilliant to ride but anything else was a no go. He tested positive for pssm 1. Which meant he was in constant muscle spasm and cramps which made him grumpy. Seeing as how about 60 percent of welsh cobs suffer from pssm 2 variants maybe you could get him tested. This myopathy can be managed and is connected to behviour as they are trying to communicate that they are not comfortable. It is worth testing. U can send a hair sample to test he doesnt need a muscle biopsy.. vets still do not understand or accept that pssm is a thing. My pssm 2 arab does not like being touched for example.. he has super sensitive skin. These horses are born with this it is passed down in their dna. My arab was abused as a youngster he was 2 when i got him for free..as he was classed as dangerous. He was wild as no one could get near him and when they wormed him or had to do anything with him it was with brute force. He is now 14 and the kindest guy in the world. My pssm 1 horse also was misunderstood. But now we have it under control is a different horse. I also use the steve young methods. He is kind and understands horses like no other i have seen in the uk. He has helped so many cobs with issues. Look him up on You tube. He is amazing. Take care and good luck with your lovely new horses. Its sad hearing you talk about champ knowing he has passed, hugs from Germany.❤

wow, you cant not wonder what happened to him for him to behave like that but a massive well done for all your hard work and dedication to help willow. I completely agree with you not pushing his stable behaviours anymore and having him put down if anything happens to you. That would be in the best interest for willow and your family x

Thank you, he has taught me so much on how to be a better owner and learn to listen to horses,
Yes his stable is his space and I just stay out of it unless absolutely necessary, pull him out and tie him up and his fine x

  • @leanneskitchengardenandplo9711

Hi Karen, I totally understand your actions with willow and to have him put to sleep if anything was to go wrong with yourself. I have a 17,3 ISH who has so many issues that I e tired to suet over the years. He’s a a very loving horse with me and after many years I
I can do what I want to a degree. He was awesome under saddle but as time went on he became more and more awkward to the point where he was dangerous. After much investigation I decided to retire him at 20 as he’s done many Mike with pervious owner and from my own intuition it was time to retire him but I’ve said the same if anything happens to me then he must be put to sleep as he is and can be extremely dangerous with other people but he’s living his best life retired with me and my other retired horses. I live him so much but we have to do what’s right and the best gif them xx

      Hiya
Thank you, it’s a hard decision to make isn’t it but we know deep down it would be what’s best for them at the time, I wouldn’t want to risk willow getting in the hands of someone who wouldn’t be able to cope with his stable behaviour, although he may win for them in the show ring I wouldnt want to risk him being mistreated at home,
Having animals is hard, if anything happened to us we no longer have a say on what happened to them, hence why I’ve put these instructions in black and white already with what is to happen to him, xx

Love your honesty, 100% pts is the right thing to do for willow if your no longer around, I have such a similar situation,in that if anything happens to me my boy will be pts due to his issues, like you I can do what needs doing although sometimes not so easy but only I can.

Thank you, it’s a hard decision to make and I hope nothing happens to yourself or me, but I definitely think it’s what would be best for them,
We certainly don’t want our horses in the hands of someone who might not be as willing to work round there issues as we are

@@KarenBadrick1 he's got the most adorable cheeky face, bless him
I'd like to try getting a horse whisperer to talk to my lad, but I'm afraid of what horse might say! I don't get to see him much cos the yard is too far to walk, I lost the use of my car, and what with covid I can't get anyone to give me a lift, I'm sure he thinks I've abandoned him 😢

I have a welsh d similar to yours. He came to me with alot of problems. He would run other horses through fences very dominant, petrified of everything. Cut a long story short I found he'd travelled from Wales to Scotland and everywhere in between in his 4 year of life, used for breeding as he's grey he was in demand. He has come on leaps and bounds but is still incredibly unpredictable

He looks very tired and weary. He probably will bite you one day and you should never hand feed him. The person who wrote about Steve Young was telling you correctly. He is very good teaching horses ( whatever their past) to give you some space and behave when you are near them. You do have to carry on the way he tells you to work with the horse and become his secure guide so that he learns he is safe with you. Steve doesn't hit them or hurt them in any way and with his technique horses always calm down, lower their heads and lose their bad habits.

Such a shame somewhere along the line he has been treated really badly by what he has perceived as a dominant human male why would be a complete mystery because he appears to be quite friendly and happy to try his best for you - well done for persevering with him - he has possibly been injured around the stifle area at some time hence the screw in his tail - callers can have the opposite effect for some horses the Trytophane makes them a little hot - anyway well done

I will always do my best for him as he always does his best for me,
Yes I’ve had his wonky tail checked over and there is no pain anywhere so they say it’s something we just have to live with now
