I experimented with the power versus long barrel and when I realized how much of a difference it made I wanted to help people understand which mods do what. Glad to see it helped!
5:39 not everything is about attack and DPS. People using multiple shield mods aren't "very bad at the game" as you say they are. 3 shield mods + guard 5 + guard up makes you a literal tank that can stare any monster in the eye and wave off their most powerful attacks. No chip damage no knockback. "But you're being taken out of the fight" no I'm not. Just because I'm not attacking doesn't mean I'm not engaging the monster or helping the team or anything. You were doing a good job explaining everything up until that point, but then your opinion came in and you discredited yourself.
Dude 3 shield mods, guard 5 and guard up is literally overkill, one shield mod and maybe one guard is really all you need, with that alone monsters do very very little damage, especially with most of the endgame bring guiding lands and everyone running fortify for massive dps and def boosts. Combine that with literally just dodging and you seriously do not ever need 3 shield mods, 5 guard and guard up, it's such an insane waste of space in your build. I'm not the type that says you should be dps only, never waste space on defensive or qol skills but with current capabilities, you can max out on dps, still fit in fortify, geology for GL, 3 vitality, and a few other skills but hell even on Lance it's known that going over guard 3 is a waste. I'm telling you most efficient is one shield mod, if you want to tank use one, one guard and guard up max. You don't need more than that. Period
@@RaisedBySharks He kinda has a point. Saying that you'll never say attack and DPS over anything and then saying to never go defense or qol is kinda contradicting, no offense. For me, it's very fun to go with these unusual builds like 3shields guard5 and guard up. Sure it may not get me tons of DPS and make hunts longer, but it's very satisfying tanking everything. Couple that with a health regen augment and everything's a breeze. But that's just me. Also, a little bit of constructive criticism, when you're doing a video explaining (in this case, hbg mods) putting your personal opinions on it can come out as jarring and left field, especially if you say to not listen to other people because they're bad at the game. No offence meant, just a little bit of my two cents :)
Thing is, if it's a skill or something that will actually help you, sure, but from 2 years of experience and then specific testing for this video, when I say you don't need it, it's overkill, I really mean that, you're better off with other qol skills or upping your dps to shorten the hunt. In endgame your def will usually be over 1000 but even at 900 with 1 shield mod, no guard skill, the most you'll take is tiny chip dmg. That being said the shield only protects you while the gun is out and facing the attack, so you're better off using 3 vitality, and a few Divine protection and dps skills over guard or more mods, but even 1 extra is fine if it makes you comfortable. That being said, again more guard or should mods is just a waste
Also tip, health Regen augment doesn't work well on hbg because it only gives you the portion of the first hit. Meaning a spread shot that deals 35 per pellet, will only heal you based on the 35, not the total, and the hbg multiplier for it means you gain like 2-3 hp per shot, where Lance pokes of 80 dmg per, will heal you up to like 6-8 per hit at almost the same speed
@@RaisedBySharks I can tell that no explanation will change your mind. The more you explain yourself, the more you elitist you look. Even if you have "2+ years of experience" , you have no say on what's a waste of builds. People like to have fun, and just because you dont share that view, you shouldnt call them "bad at the game"
Just found your video looking for some info on HBG... not going to look more videos from your channel cause from the comment section I can see you can't take constructive criticism. Which makes me wonder how good could your information be... giving that you won't listen to anyone else's opinion.
Can you explain further about how Wyvernsnipe mod/type 2 works? I tried using it to shoot breakable body parts and the damage was BAD. e.g. 250 damage on a Barioth's claws using Magda Gemitus II.
Wait. You only get +10% extra damage from the special scope? That's AWFUL considering how awkward it is to use. What they should have done is made the Wyvernsnipe mod a regular shot and had the special scope only work with it. Then you'd have an anti-materiel rifle as your special attack. Currently I think the Wyvernsnipe mod doesn't get a damage increase from this scope at all, which is frustrating because they were shown being used together in some of the first Iceborne footage.
@@gamecavalier3230 Yeah I think it is actually 30%. What I'm unclear on is what it works with. I have since read elsewhere that it does work with the special wyvernsnipe shot. But that seems contradictory to how sticky ammo works with other damage boosts.
Not sure if any1 pays attention to these but for future reference, i been tweeking a frostcraft build of mine, special scope works with wyvernsnipe, it does an automatic 30% more dmg by adding the scope. I use peirce fatalis heavybwgn with 3range ups, power barrel, and the special scope, with the help of lvl3 peak performance, lvl7 agitator, lvl7attack up, lvl3 maximum might, lvl4 crit eye, lvl 3 crit+, lvl3 weakness ex, and velkana V armour with frost craft, my heavybowgun becomes, said anti material rifle, 3/5times whrn you take time to line up that shot, you deal 1500-3000 to a monster with a 1st barrage of about 600 with a following explsion of 1700 or more and it flinches or knocks most monsties.ive seen 1 tick do over 400 before vs ruiner nergi and he got flattened out. Hope this comments of use to somebody.
@@codymason1053 Automatic 30% extra damage with the scope even if you don't actually shoot from super critical range? Or only if you do? The main problem I have with wyvernsnipe based builds is the damn monsters can smell me. I never get time to mess around setting up the perfect scoped shot with super critical range etc. Unless I'm doing multiplayer. I have been dropping into low level games and obliterating monsters with my sniper cannon.
Crazy how I haven't found a video for this exact topic. Thanks.

yeah, he lost me at "whoever says use more guard mods is just bad at the game"
Too bad most of the highest dps builds use 3 shield
