- The purpose of me requesting they react to songs like these is just to expose them to music they may or may not have heard before, to expand their horizons and to sate my curiosity over whether they will like them or not. As such I don't really care about likes/dislikes on these video postings or even the popularity of my channel or theirs for that matter.
Also nothing is monetized on my channel so I make no money from posting them, they do these for me and I just post them here in case other people are curious what they think of these songs too after they send me them and I have watched them myself. MJ technically first went solo when he was a teenager in 1972 by Motown. He was only 14. Motown did all the work though, it wasn't necessarily his work. Prince started out doing funk/disco/rock music. His first album was released in 1978. The following year MJ releases his Off The Wall album in 1979, which is disco/funk influenced. That was the first album MJ had total control over and then he didn't release another album until 1982 while prince was putting out albums consistently year after year since his first album so I have to say Prince was first. Prince had already released 5 albums by the time MJ put out his second album, which was Thriller.
They were exactly the same age, only a few months apart.
How can you not move to this song?!?

Musically When Doves Cry is the most influential 'pop' song of the 80s. It set the template for the sound the record companies wanted their artists to follow for the rest of the 80s and beyond into the 90s. There is also no bass line in the song.
I know u did not say that prince and MJ were similar LOL😂 they were total opposites. They sound absolutely totally different. I love MJ’s Music BUT....MJ was nothing more than a popular R&B entertainer. Prince was a real musician who played 21 instruments and wrote his OWN songs. I know that you two are young maybe 15/17 but please do some research and listen to their Music and you will hear how absolutely totally different they are. Saying prince and MJ were similar is like saying comparing Whitney Houston and Britney Spears LOL😂
Also, I believe Michael’s “off the wall” album dropped in 78-79, and prince’s first solo album dropped in either 78-79 but more like1979. Michael was in a group with the Jackson’s and prince was in a band back then as well.
They are two of the most opposite artist and have absolutely NOTHING in common except that they both were the first Black artist to be played on MTV. Michael was played like two weeks before prince on mtv but they both were ground breaking. Please don’t ever compare these two artist again because prince was a real musician who did EVERYTHING by himself, he didn’t hire song writers, he wrote his own shiii!

@@chr1st1an111 it is because I’m tired of hearing people compare these two artist. Love them both and they’ve contributed to Music a great deal, and I’ll just leave it at that!
I don't understand why people always compare the two. They're both excellent in their own ways. Prince was more of a musician and Michael was more of a entertainer and singer (also Mike did play some instruments..he also beat box and wrote damn near all of his songs..just want to put that out there). Prince was more talented than MJ. MJ was more entertaining and had way more charisma than Prince
@@matthewpipes018 it’s like comparing Jay-Z to Nas. One was a real lyricist , the other was more of an entertainer, but I like them both but they are totally different artist.
Prince and MJ were both influenced by the look of James Brown and Little Richard, they weren't really copying one another, although they had friendly competition, more so on MJ's side they were good friends. Prince's look tho started way before MJ's look. Mj before Prince was sporting mostly an afro style

The extended version is the one that takes you on a ride. Its the climax of the song this video misses out.
One last thing but prince was innovative, he created his own sound called the minneapolis sound. Michael relied on other musician’s & producers to help him while prince was a one man band!
As for sound, I challenge you to listen to Purple Rain album, Sign “0” The Times vs Michael’s Thriller or Bad albums and you will hear no similarity. None whatsoever!
SHAMEFUL TREND GOING ON! Prince music is not just some fly-by you trying get clicks.... I see ALOT of these Prince reaction videos all of a sudden popping up. The majority are a farce, b/c you wouldn't sell him out if you really connected to the music!! So listen w/o having to have a click. You can't actually get his music by having your attention on recording yourself fake-bakin' a reaction. Be 4 Real
