    Awesome old caddy you got there man. My first car was an old beat up 79 Caddy Coupe DeVille. I worked all summer my junior year of high school to come up with $600 to buy it. 23 years later I still have it, still drive it and it still purrs like a kitten. No major problems just an alternator or two and cleaning the carb out a couple of times. The 425 has a little over 500,000 miles on it now and I wouldn't be surprised to see it go another 500,000. They just don't make this quality of cars anymore.

    Great idea with the air breather lid too. I would have never thought of that but I'm gonna do it right now lol.

    I see you flipped your air lid like I did. It really does help this monster breath easier.

    My 79 coup had this engine. It was the coldest natured engine I ever owned. Start it let it run for a minute or 2 and shift to drive or reverse and the very second you touched the gas BAM it was OFF. Lol. Used to make me mad as hell.

      You may have had an issue with your starter. There's a bracket that goes missing and causes bad starts

    the 425 caddy is a workhorse & weighs approx 100 lbs less than a 472-500 caddy...

    How much does it cost to replace a whole engine on a 77 Cadillac deville?????

    • @CadillacSmooth

      I would say $500 and up, depending on how and where you get it. A cadillac 472 and 500 engine will fit pretty easy as well.

    with180 hp and 330 ft lbs of torque why would you want to get rid of the 425.....I have a single turbo running 6 lbs of boost with stock internals on a 425 and its pushing 282 horsepower with 455 ft lbs of torque on the dyno......455 lbs of torque at any stop light will give anyone a run for there money.

      the engine in there now is about 400 horse and 700 torque. bored out, forged aluminum heads and performance cam shaft too.

    Would a Cadillac 425 work in a 81 Cadillac DeVille?

    • @CadillacSmooth

      Yeah, my uncle had an '83 fleetwood that came with an 8-6-4 and when the system died he pulled a junkyard 425 and used it in there instead

    Hi ! I have a 1978 cadillac deville. It always run good and taking care of it. I went away for two weeks , when i came back the engine was turning perfectly but when passing the gear the car was taking a moment to drive, then i realyzed i had a transmission fluid leak ( red fluid) where i parked it. I stoped straight away to drive it and will take my saturday to check it out. Anyone has a tips ? Transmission fluid leak? Where it could be from ( the few possibilities) what tools do i need? And where i can locate the leak? I was thinking to level the fluid and put a white piece of paper under the engine to see where it was liking from. Could it be a hoes ? Thanks a lot if anyone take time to help me with a message. I love my car and cant afford changing so need to fix it by myself. C

    Hello I wanted to ask if there's any way that I can fit a 425 big block into my 2010 Camaro

    • @CadillacSmooth
      @CadillacSmooth  4 роки тому +3

      You probably could but I absolutely would NOT do that. Better off throwing a LS motor in there.

      Waste of an engine on a plastic tech blob like that. Get an '84 Camaro and try it in that instead.
