Kind of -- I've been crocheting pocket shawls, plain shawls, and cocoon shrugs. I'll be making your cardigan for someone and then maybe one for myself!
With all the craziness happening right now, it’s been really difficult to find affordable winter maternity clothes. So I made this cardigan, and it will be perfect to keep me warm until baby arrives in December... and even after her arrival! I will say though, I made it with two layers of fleece, which made the project much more complicated than you showed... but in the end, it worked! I might add a button or a tie near the top, just to keep it closed easier, but now I’m wondering how many of my friends or family would want one!
I rarely write comments but because of you I was able to make my first shirt. All your video explanations are clear, easy to follow and I just love watching you! You have such a beautiful personality. Bravo and thank you! Keep going! 🥰
I am making this with my 5yr old daughter. We are having a blast! She has already asked me to make one for her, too! Thank you for the easy and encouraging instructions. Your tutorials are helpful and concise.
And I immediatly add to my previous comment just made on the previous video.... ....you, just doing the square folding at the beginning here explaining the shoulders..... Perfection!!! 😊😊😊😊
@@ThoughtfulCreativity I always did. Even made winter (lined and a chamois in the back as well), for my sisters. But I got out of the habit a few years ago and then my machine broke...then I moved..long story. Recently I have been yearning to pick it back up. Thank you so much, you've given me the nudge I needed!
First: You are SO adorable!! I just loved watching your video. Second, I've been looking at MANY ideas for a wrap/cocoon shrug I'm making for someone in fleece, but I wasn't finding the exact, right thing I wanted until this video, so thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!!!!!
Yay! Thank you, you are so sweet! Your comment made my day! Mary Ann, tomorrow there will be another video for a circle cardigan - also very easy and if you like this style, you might like the other one too! :)
Leesa, funny you mentioned this, because I have been also thinking to make this for my SIL, since it does not really require precise measurements! Have fun sewing!
Ready to jump in to make this, actually multiples. The measurement/self drafting makes it perfect for mommy and me outfits for family. I am thinking about adding a contrast band to the neckline, just need to find fabric of similar weight and stretch. Great make, perfect timing as the windchill is 40F this morning.
Looks so comfy. I have some fabric leftover from another project I wasn't sure what to do with it. I think I will make this Cardigan. I love all your projects. Thank you
September, 2023 As we get closer to cold weather and the winter holidays, stores are stocking LOTS of amazingly soft fleece blankets and throws in fleece and sherpa fabrics and they're selling for less than half of the cost of the same fabric in yardage. Make sure it's wide enough when you stretch your arms open, and you might even have enough left to cover a cushion or two!
Jo, hello there and thank you for joining! For the pockets I have a few tutorials on the channel and even pocket templates on on the Google drive for Members, the only thing - you gotta think how those pockets are going to move with this particular garment, that's why I did not add any, but I am sure there is a way :)
That is adorable. I live in a relatively warm area, however people like to have the AC cranked to a level of freezing me out. This is perfect. Oh and I loved that you left Kitty in the shots. She makes me giggle. Thank you so very much for sharing your ideas.
Alisa I have learned so many things from your videos but I was wondering if you could show us how to draft and sew a v-neck for knit fabrics? I just finished a sweatshirt using your drafting techniques and it turned out great but I'd really love to make the dolman sweater with a v-neck. Thank you so much for all the time and hard work you put into your videos!
Wow! This looks amazing! I had a bit of a struggle with the boxy blouse since I am several sizes larger than you. Needed so much more fabric. Still adjusting, but quite happy with the results.
I was wondering the same thing too actually. I too am several sizes larger than Alisa and I would be curious to ask you how much fabric you needed and what kind of material did you get ? Thank you so much in advance :)
I made this over the weekend and love it!! Also want to thank you for suggesting the free slouch top pattern. I made it in an adorable knit print. I didn't like the neckline so I cut it lower in the front and put a t-shirt band on it made out of the fabric instead of using the facing. Really looks great! Also didn't like the big cuff so cut it down to a 2" cuff and shortened the sleeve to make it a three quarter length sleeve. Just ordered more fabric to make another one. It's really cute!!
This is absolutely beautiful... I am going to try to make this. I have used the v neckline video you have for something i made and it came out perfect. I hope this comes out well, if so I have many different fabrics i want to make this out of! Thank you for the videos. Any live tutorials?
I’m so happy that this fits me!!!! I just want to make it a bit longer. I used Walmart’s 2 yards for 2$ to make a sample cardi. If I use Joann’s Sherpa and/or luxe fleece do I need to hem it since neither fray and they’re already pretty thick fabric?
Jennifer!!!! Hi! So sorry I missed your previous comment - it has been a crazy week or two here.... and I am so happy you made it! Yay! You are sewing garments now! Ok, so for sherpa, I would hem it, because although it does not fray as much, the little hairs do detach and if you don't take care of the edges - it will be everywhere. Fleece - much easier, no need to hem if it does not fray! :)
I have a question about joining your channel as a monthly membership. Would I be able to go back and print off the print out for all of your videos or just new ones that you make after I become a member? Thank you soon much I love you channel and have made several of my garments with you as a sewing mentor for me. Thank you so much for putting your talent out there to bless others with.
Slightly different look/ variation would be using the same measurements for fabric, fold bottom corners all the way to the top ( you may wish to cut top/ shoulder down on angle slightly). Cut arm whole and cuffs the same and attach.
Thank you! The cardigan is adorable and you've made it so simple to make. I have a question, though. What if the wrong side of the fabric does not look nice, how can we make the lapel? Or maybe leave it as is with no lapel,?
Thank you i found a pattern similar to this and did fine till the cuff question if you wanted a less bulky cardigan would you just do body length with seam allowances and the normal arm length or something else cause i like the sleeve just not the body
If you wanted to do a really long cuff like in one of your example photos how would you recommend adjusting the pattern to accommodate that? Fabulous make by the way x

Zipper won't be possible, you can add a single button in the middle.
