Great advice. Thanks for sharing. Love that silver Tuono in the background 😚
Thanks it's the camera mans bike not mine the point I was making aprilia was charging a small fortune for there coils and so are others .
Thanks for the usefull video. Could you give any tips on how to diagnose a failing coil on the Caponord?
Hi Mathew I think the easiest way depending what tools you have on hand is to get a checked good spare spark plug and pull HT cap one at a time short to an earth and run it .
If you have a nice big blueish spark you have proved the ECU, leads and coil is good the only thing you haven't proved would be the spark plug in the head .
Repeat on all four plugs .
@@captbarb6642 Thanks so much for that.
I recently bought an old Caponord and thought it ran a bit rough, low power and high fuel consumption compared to the one I had years ago.
I just tested the rear cylinder coils and the lower spark plug coil isn't firing whatsoever so it was probably the cause of my problems.
@@matthewwatkins9971in my case there was no EFI light, but diagnostic cable showed there is problem with 2nd coil. My symptoms is irregular rpm and sometimes smell of gasoline
Can you tell what is the purpose of replacing stock coils? You get any extra kW?
Yes of course I can my bike is twenty one years old and they are starting to fail leaving people stranded and sometimes people don't realise that the coil has failed that lets say doesn't due the lion share of the burn.
I do alot of European trips on mine I even carry a spare just in case .
I don't think I get any more power but it's nice to know I'm getting the right amount of power going to my plug for a strong spark ,maybe easier starting and crisper engine .
@@captbarb6642 Thanks, it's important to know it. I'm a new owner of 2001 caponord, planning trips in Europe, so your videos worth gold for me :)
Thanks for your kind words.
I recommend the fuel pump filter and pipework service so you don't get any problems in the future
@@captbarb6642 Pipework service you mean a hose inside a tank?
@viliuzk yes of course inside the tank were the fuel pump can be found . filters the fuel and has some suction and discharge pipes that over time break or become porous this will not give your injections the right pressure .
Oh and its nice to know you get to the pump if needed again .
Me again, I bought six from the ebay link back in november but just got round to replacing the two easy ones.. The only suspect bit is the stud on the originals seem to be threaded so the brass conical end of the ht lead latches to the thread,,,, on the delphi replacements they seem to have a smooth non-tapped post so there is nothing to secure the brass cone to (with horizontal sprung wire detent). For now i’ve removed the spring and secured the boot/leads to the coil with self amalgamation tape. Have you done the same, if how did you get round this ?
Also my coils were rusted within the rubber shroud so I’m probably going to replace all four, are you waiting for a coil to fail before replacing?? just interested in your mind set on this!?
Are the coils the same as the ones from my link .
Think I noticed the new male stud on the coils was a little shorter then the OEM ones but when I tested on the oscilloscope they worked great so I was happy I think self amalgamating tape is a great idea for moisture protection and have done the same .
Question about the front coils I was going to change them especially now I'm looking at them doing the valves but they test actually the same as the new coils on the oscilloscope so why change but I do have two ready to go coils stored by my toolbox.
Hi,
Any chance of posting up the picture of the box the coils came in please? The link further down in the comments goes to an empty album.
Thanks

I hope these links work I've checked they work for me the first one is as requested box info, the other link is showing the male HT pin and the correct female primary side with grooves etc hope this helps you find them they are out there and took me a while.
@@captbarb6642 yes they work, thanks. I can't find Sovereign CUF059 coils, but there are plenty of others. But I don't know if they will have the pin or if CUF059 is just a generic part number for the coils with & without the pin. I bought 2 of someone on ebay a while back - 1 has the pin and the other hasn't!
I had the same.problem I just kept asking the supplier specific questions like the male pin and the grooves and when one gave me the answers I needed I brought
Hi. I've looked at the link and it's not showing up... says page missing... any chance you could.pop another link to that's coils please...
Yes I think they may have stopped doing them but basically just make sure you have the male HT pin and the primary side is actually the same as the capo ones I tried lots until I found these ones all listed as Peugeot V6 coils .
Could give me a price number for the coil you used please

This is all I can find maybe try contacting the company that supplied them , when I got mine I paid £63 I think for six coils food luck.
We can only find coils without the male pin.....please help 😵💫
If you go to my original post the link from eBay has gone dead so I've included a picture of the coils I purchased it has helped others good luck .
Hi how can I found this ignition coil
Theres a link in the description there from eBay .

I'm not sure is zs347 a part number sorry I've used a translator.photos.app.goo.gl/NwNWvZC4EYiWnQsT6
Hi.what type of coil did you use?
I used Peugeot v6 coils there is a link in the description I tried a couple before but they just were wrong be very careful and check the primary connection and the male secondary pin .
Careful in what reason for that?in what reason?
@@sarelswanepoel-e5f I'm not sure i understand your reply they metered out to be within the correct tolerance reading the aprilia capo workshop manual .
Do you perhaps have that part number.trying to get here by us from the agent.

This is the link to the parts I purchased but please double check the connection for primary is correct and male pin on secondary good luck
Hi could you try to give me an ebay link?
Cheers
I think the link has gone dead I did put some pics up on previous messages if that helps.
I've put a screen shot up on the description of the original advert with OEM numbers etc hope that helps.
But you just need to check for the male HT stud and the primary will fit with side grooves etc.
Good luck
@@captbarb6642hey mate, that photo did it.
Thanks!
@Maxi-ff6to I'm pleased for you there's a lot of people trying to charge the earth for these coils good luck .
@@captbarb6642 I have seen that. The market for original Aprilia coils is gone crazy. They start at 300£ up to 500£, that is just insane. I saved a ton of money because of you. You‘re like a pioneer for a lot of others.
I've enclosed a link to the eBay site where I purchased them from I have noticed he has put the price up to £83 now but still a bargain.
Ciao le bobine da comprare sono Ulisse V 6
I think they must be the same as my ones .
