    what is a good boost, should they be actual and specified to be monitored and what are the deviations between them,
    how to adjust the lever on the actuator, it must be correct with a wedge on which it stops or lengths for 1 round of thread. I would not take the turbine but on the spot to set up

    When I do test like this I can not create vacuum, however when I reconnect the hose to the vnt, I can see the rod moving. If the vnt is broken can the rod still move? (car is a golf mk6 tdi 2.0)

    Hi SiRobb thanks for the great vids,would the actuator be cycled on tick over or only on acceleration, sorry if that sounds like a dumb question,my 2002 d5 actuates on tick over not had a chance to test with vac pump yet

    • @sirobb
      @sirobb  8 років тому

      Hi.
      At idle, the turbo won't be actuated as such (at least not constantly) because no boost is being demanded.
      If you watch it from engine off to idle, yes you'll see it move as it finds its position.
      If you increase revs then return to idle, you should see the actuator arm move.
      It won't move as much as when manipulated with the vacuum pump because full boost won't be required or allowed when the vehicle stationary.

    • @jayedwards7067
      @jayedwards7067 8 років тому

      its actually pulling full cycle on idle

    • @sirobb
      @sirobb  8 років тому

      +jay edwards When you say "full cycle", are you measuring your boost levels or just going by the position of the arm?
      What happens to the arm when you increase revs?
      I haven't personally observed the exact arm positions for different boost levels and instead use diagnostics.
      If boost is out of spec, I take it from there.

    Hi Si !
    And take for all the content u bring us !
    I bought a V70 2004 D5 and I have many issues which I find answers on your channel, such as EGR cleaning ( code P0401 gone ).
    Still have a boost issue that can causes trouble on going uphill. I feel like the motor don't have all the power it can have.
    Have a turbo whistle has the motor increase rpms.
    I don't know where to start tracing that problem ? I have no faulty code, only a old turbo wastegate range/performance which I deleted and never came back.

    • @entieda8409
      @entieda8409 Рік тому

    Hi SiRobb great videos, is it possible to replace the actuator without removing the turbo?

    • @sirobb
      @sirobb  8 років тому

      If you ever see advertised a "turbo core", that's basically a Turbo without an actuator so it is possible but difficulty of removal can vary across different designs.

    That cheap tester really sucks, if you don't have that vacuum tester you can get a hose and suck with your mouth, if the wastegate actuator works fine there is nothing to be worried about (it worked for me). next step is to test the vacuum pump in that case you will need a vacuum tester, then if you get a full reading you might test the vacuum boost solenoid (you might have full reading on the gauge). after these steps you will need to check the hoses. connecting vacuum pump to solenoid to the actuator.
