Makes you wonder how many other people realize this is basically an isolated drum track you can use to play along to a great song. It's a bass player's dream!
One of the best metal drummers bar none. I was fortunate enough to see the Rust In Piece tour at the old Miami arena when I was in 8th grade. Unforgettable influence.
I was fortunate to see him on the "Countdown", "Youthanasia" and "Trust" Tour here in good'ol Germany..i met him before the Show and he signed my "Rust in Peace " CD Cover. Still got it, one of my greatest memories and treasures in life. R.i.P. !!!!
I agree! I was fortunate also on the countdown to extinction tour! I definitely feel lucky because after that tour The-show was at BJCC in Birmingham,Alabama, Opening for Aerosmith last show then MegadetH-dropped off the Aerosmith tour….
Maybe. There Dirk now so..... They've had so many great drummers as well as guitarists that you really can't go wrong with any one of them. They are all probably infinitely better than the leader lol
@@DonaldBell69Mustaine is no slouch, if that’s what you mean by their leader. He has his demons but has written a considerable number of Metal classics, as well as being a helluva guitarist. Without Megadeth there would be a sizable void in the history of music in general, but looking at just the genre of Metal Mustaine is as important a figure as Schuldiner.
Nick's drum intro will forever be a classic. His drum parts on all megadeth albums will be considered timeless. His influence on myself and many others is unmeasurable. He was a true for force, those live drum sets copped such a bloody beating!!! 🤘🤘
As Nick once said, there's always at least 1 song from every album he played on where it started with his drum beat. Rust in peace Skin o' my teeth Addicted to Chaos Trust
The beat of the Intro reminds me so much of what Jimmy Chamberlin played on "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by The Smashing Pumpkins. No wonder these two bands are my all time favourites! 😃
I remember when I saw the video's premiere on MTV and then bought the Cryptic Writings cassette the day it came out... It was the coolest and most original drum intro I ever saw back then.
Nick's drumming, for me, always stood out from the other drummers in the genre. It was always to the point, always serving the song in the best way there is. Sometimes gentle and relaxed, and when needed fast and aggressive. I am no drummer, but I wish I could play like Nick did. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest for me
Started listening to Megadeth during the Peace Sells era, was stupid young. So far...was great. Rust in Peace cemented my love for them. Nick was an absolute beast
I always compared him with the best drummer I know( my. cousin),he is such an inspiration. Nick is the reason I learned to play drums , now that we will play in a big auditorium in our city, he is still a benchmark for drums riff when composing
They kept saying Menza wasn't up to snuff to play with megadeth towards the end. All those talks of touring again etc. seems to me he was playing pretty freaking great. Awesome drummer. One of my childhood heroes. Rip nick.
Lucky me,I saw Nick once.fuck I wish I remembered more of it though.Auckland city, that place they ended up closing down, New Zealand ,such n such year.RIP Nick Menza👊🏼
Trust, when it comes to Nick's drum work, is second only to Rust in Peace... Polaris in my book. To be able to hear him play this magnificent song on his own is a gift. Did he record RIP too?
Being in Megadeth was apparently the best part of Nick's life 😟 I'm so very sorry that Mustaine&Ellefson didn't get Nick back to the lineup. Such a pitty 😟 He was the best Megadeth's drummer, no doubt about that.
Still the greatest drum intro to any album ever. And that includes Painkiller. Those drums sound so fat, so full. My first megadeth album and forever my fav.
Nick didn't like Cryptic Writings and said he tried to make the songs heavier by hitting the drums harder. He also said he's glad he didn't play on that "piece of shit" Risk.
I have never understood WHY DF changed so much the drum sound on the CW remaster. The sound of Nick ‘s playing was, for me, and 25 years after, the best recording of his drumming and it is CW
He played the drums fit for the song, not to show off his skill. A true musician.
Well, that's skill!
Makes you wonder how many other people realize this is basically an isolated drum track you can use to play along to a great song. It's a bass player's dream!
Dave was full of crap when he said he couldn't play any longer! Nick was solid his whole career. Rest In Power Mr Menza 🙏🤘
Well obviously he can play, but he got old and got extremely tired and burnt out after their shows together
One of the best metal drummers bar none. I was fortunate enough to see the Rust In Piece tour at the old Miami arena when I was in 8th grade. Unforgettable influence.
I’m jealous….. I was 16 when R.I.P. came out and not yet allowed to got concerts. ☹️🤘

Such a fantastic drummer. Thanks for posting this!
God Nick! This is SO SOLID! I love this guy! Gone but never forgotten. You live on bro! 🤘🥁🤘💯DC
Such an inspiration. It was class in session watching him play live. Truly missed.
HE WAS A PHENOMENAL DRUMMER..
Great video. I love watching Nick play the drums.
The beat of the Intro reminds me so much of what Jimmy Chamberlin played on "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by The Smashing Pumpkins. No wonder these two bands are my all time favourites! 😃
After seeing Nick on that awesome Yamaha set with nuclear heads in Holy Wars and Hangar videos, I knew I had to play drums. A legend.

Nick....y Nicko....los culpables de amar este instrumento...y que el metal sea mi religión. Te extrañamos mucho!!!
R.I.P. Nick...Always one of my fav metal drummers...It's a bitch getting older and watching all your heroes all disappear one by one.
Nick gave Megadeth life 1💯
Such a great video, of an amazing drummer who, like many other drummers in the past 5 years, died way too young.
Un verdadero baterista..q.en paz descanses ..querido nick😢
Nick always there be!
R.I.P nick menza my favourite drummer forever 👍🤘🇮🇱
Why do the hi hats sound so much more open than they look? Menza forever, bless his soul! Fantastic performance.

He hesitated a bit, at the very beginning, more specifically at 0:04, right?

That intro though
It’s a shame the line up never got back together even for a couple of shows . I hope they grab Marty for an interview for this film
