I recently went to Changgu to experiance it myself after being away from Bali for a couple years, for reference I'm an American living in Thailand. I found the traffic and non stop noise pollution due to construction really killed the tropical vibes for me. The non stop sound of saws, drills and hammers everywhere, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week drove me f'in mad. Also the beach and ocean weren't that nice for swimming but it was great for surfing, also the cafe scene and community of expats there was great! I ended up finishing my Bali trip in Uluwatu which has a much less intense party scene but in all other aspects I liked it much more because it actually has better beaches, less traffic and much less construction noise. Over all I was happy to go back home, Thailand, for the better beachs and ocean for chilling/swimming, the food, quality of accommodations for the money, infrastructure and it just being a much more diverse place, it is an entire country with a mega city, islands and mountains where Bali is just one island. In the end I think it would be more fair to compare Bali to Phuket, instead of Bali to Thailand. Final thoughts are Bali takes the W for young expat community and English proficiency from the locals, in every other aspect Thailand comes out on top, just my experience and opinion 🙂
i agree with you on the notion that its better to compare Bali with Phuket and not Thailand as a whole. Phuket and Bali have almost the same vibes and size. party scene both crazy and wonderfull.. international food all around.. daytrips all within reach. and i love both!
I agree with this video. Especially with this sentence, Bali is an island while Thailand is a country. So let me put it into perspective, when you compare Thailand with Indonesia. The stark difference is just incomparable. Indonesia has 17.000 islands with 1.340 tribes. How can Thailand beat that? Compare to most of Indonesia, Balinese price is considered high. So imagine how much cheaper travelling around Indonesia? Indonesia has 7 lakes with stingless jellyfish. Other country that has it is just Palawan. And only 1 lake. both great option I imagine. Never been to Thailand but spent a year in Bali and hard to compare the two since Bali is just an island. Bali is crowded, but was amazing when the borders were semi locked, canggu was a great place to stay. Outside of canggu, sanur is excellent and really chill with great food and gym options. Bali in the east is amazing, the north, Amed is also beautiful. You also have the south with ungasan/uluwatu so different options. Overall, I think I will probably prefer Thailand as its bigger and you can experience the country much more easily while Bali you are limited to the island. Lombok for example is phenomenal for exploring the less touristy parts on indeonesia. JAva is also somewhere that has so many places I want to visit. Bali is great but there are plenty of other places in indonesia worth visiting

Yeah Thailand will win if you compare with bali.. but bali is just small part of Indonesia.. we also have Raja ampat, jogjakarta, komodo island, puncak bogor, wakatobi, gili trawangan, bunaken, Toba lake, tana Toraja and more beautiful destination in Indonesia.
I can agree with most of this apart from the safety aspect. No one I know has ever had anything happen to them in Thailand yet I do know a few people - including our mutual friend Sean - who have been robbed in Bali. I feel safe in both Thailand and Bali but I wouldn’t say Bali is safer.
I'm currently I'm Seminyak, Bali. Was almost in 2 fights with taxi drivers yesterday as they tried to scam my fiancee and I. One wanted a 300% mark up on the meter reading. Angrily demanded it. We are both very calm people and always respect locals when we travel and tip well because we know how low the wages are here. The 2nd taxi guy wanted a 7 times multiple of the fare, 700% more. I flat refused to pay. Gave him double the fare, my fiancee felt very scared at his shouting. Puts an extremely bad look on bali to threaten tourists
I would say Thailand. Just returned from there and I have to say the beauty of the island , maya bay, phi phi island, Krabi, the snorkelling in the turquoise waters..the jungles and mind blowing..I have been to Bali, not mainland, Indonesia, 5 times and I wasn’t blown away ..great lifestyle there though....
I've only been to Bali out of the two and out of all other places I've been in the world, Bali is easily in my top 3. I missed the Thailand trip due to just starting my new career but I will still go.
@@lostleblanc Because people only know Bali rather than Indonesia, they know Bali but don't know Indonesia. When they go to Bali, they don't realize that they are in Indonesia, even though they are in Indonesia there are also many beautiful islands.
Both places are beautifully amazing, but you cannot compare the two as Thailand is a country and Bali is small part of Indonesia which depends mainly on tourism. Oh, also you need to learn how to speak the local language (Bahasa Indonesia) if you call Bali as your home. How long have you been there? A couple of years I bet.
This is so interesting to watch, because this year i finally get a courage and started my digital nomad journey. And i totally agree with you that Thailand tests you haha. Specially if you are new traveler and havent traveled this part of the world. I just got back from Bali, now in Bangkok, so i can tell for sure that both of these places really are soooo different, however i liked the food in Bali more and overall my experience was more relaxing comparing to Thailand (I traveled around Phuket, Phi Phi, Krabi etc.). Only thing in Bali that was low key annoying was the traffic, its just craaazy :D But Uluwatu and Ubud was my favorite regions, such a great places. However in Thailand i randomly found Long beach Phi Phi, which was one of my favorite place i stayed in Thailand. If anyone is hesitant if they should go or not either to Bali or Thailand, just go! Dont over think, both really are safe and you will probably have the best experiences of your life while traveling both of these destinations. Thank you Los LeBlanc, your videos inspired me to do this and im so grateful that i found your content! :)
I think the comparison should be Thailand vs. Indonesia. Or Koh Phi Phi vs. Bali That's more fare. Bali is in one of the 17,500 islands in Indonesia. Thank you for sharing, but please make a fare comparison 👍
I've lived in Bali for about a year and so far have stayed 4 months in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I personally prefer Thailand to live and Bali for vacation. Bali feels so transient with all the tourists coming and going, and you can get bored of the place quickly if you've been there for too long... whereas you're spoiled for choice and variety in Thailand.
will you get bored if you just stay in phuket for a long time? if so, then it's the same, unless you say you're going to get bored living in Indonesia for a long time
Lombok and Labuan Bajo are laid on different islands. They are not Bali. That is why this comparison by Lost Le Blanc is misleading to compare an island vs a country.
@@upikabu1678 misleading what, his title is exactly what he talking about on the video.. But i agree that comparing a small island to a whole country is hillarious.
Lombok and labuan bajo is not part of Bali you know? And Bali is island not a country so it's really unfair to compare Thailand which is a country, Dude
I was in bali recently but i came to pattaya and i am loving it, this place is so my vibe. You can smoke weed here which is nice and the whole relaxing vibe and ocean breeze feels more Mediterranean or Californian. But there are trashy smelly areas in Thailand i hated, Patong in Phuket and and Khaosan in Bangkok specifically. I used to prefer Bali but now i prefer Thailand.
Good day to you! I am a senior rider on HONDA motorcycle from Japan. I am enjoying camping ,touring and upload video. Your travel video is so nice! Awesome! Full supported ! Have a nice day my friend!
Although I do absolutely and genuinely appreciate the amazing work you do for travellers but in my own humble opinion, you really can't compare the whole country to an island in another country. If you have compared Phuket (Thailand) with Bali (Indonesia), then that would be a fair assessment regarding comparisons. Personally I love both Thailand and Indonesia and if I were to choose it would be Thailand. But if I were to compare Bali with Lombok (both in Indonesia), many tourists would choose Bali but I would prefer Lombok. Surprisingly, I'm not that keen on Phuket compared to other parts of Thailand nor am I really that keen on Bali compared to other parts of Indonesia but if I were to choose between Phuket and Bali, it will be Bali (only just)
You missed the point here, this comparison is for new travelers who may be indecisive to choose which place to to. Although he talks about country profile or geography. It means only to catter traveler.
@@helius661 Actually I didn't miss any point here at all and I get exactly what he was catering for but in the end of the day you can't really compare a island from a country and the entire country - it is like comparing California with the whole of the UK. Even many posters said the same thing as I just did, You could compare prices and accommodations though
Been to Maya Bay before, took a boat about an hour to get there, sight seeing wondering about "Ohhh this the beach of Leonardo "Beach" DeCaprio movie, ok! for short period of time for your IG pic and back to the boat (not allowed to swim and do others activities).little bored i guess. It comes to comparison, what about you make a video more details for your viewers. Maya Bay vs Nusa Penida, Bali vs Phuket, Indonesia vs Thailand.
I’ve always had happy kind experiences with the people of Thailand however on two seperate trips have experienced aggression from the men street vendors in Bali. I enjoy both but Thailand is amazing, food, people, culture and its so beautiful.
@ajegbali8333 I just got back from Bali and depending where you go I find the men can be pushy. Thailand and Bali are both beautiful but Thailand is my favourite.
I think Thailand has better beach, the sand is just so much nicer and the water clearer. The really nice thing about Bali is that you can do so many different things in such a compact area. You can go rafting, surfing, climb volcanos, enjoy the waterfall, visit monkeys, hangout in some aesthetic cafe/club with friends or tour the amazing rice terraces often all in the same day!

Always love your channel. But sadly this is an unfair comparison. You should compare Bali with perhaps Phuket or Pattaya. If you would like to compare Thailand, then you should compare it with the whole Indonesia.
@@pickcick1580 Comparing it to whole of Indonesia wouldn't help much. Transport is bad or too far away, less health & safety and will make for a less enjoyable travel experience, offsetting any "beauty" or "fun" aspects. Other parts of Indonesia generally do not have good service like Bali, English is not spoken widely, and there are not many foreigners like in Thailand (which could be helpful at times). Bali is still 8x the size of Singapore, so size should not be a primary concern, since people compare Singapore to other countries all the time. Also, there are more garbage in Bali and Indonesia in general compared to Thailand. Indonesia is a win for the most adventurous type, but for typical tourists, Thailand wins hands down (against Bali or Indonesia).

amazing video! My trip starts in 6 days! will be travel vlogging for first time!
Congrats!
Yeah Thailand will win if you compare with bali.. but bali is just small part of Indonesia.. we also have Raja ampat, jogjakarta, komodo island, puncak bogor, wakatobi, gili trawangan, bunaken, Toba lake, tana Toraja and more beautiful destination in Indonesia.
thank you for building an amazing travel community knowledge, it keeps both locals and tourists happy
Iv been to Thailand 6 times. Never had a single issue with taxi or tuk tuks.
You can’t go wrong with either, two of my favourite places in the world
It's hard to compare Bali with Thailand as a whole. I think you should compare between Bali and Phuket would be more appropriate.
like your review. I am Thai but like vacationing in Bali
Single guys - Thailand
Single girls, digital nomads, yogis, couples, families, retires - Bali 😊
Fuck Bro i Go to Bali dont make me sad
Agreeee😂😂😂
I would say Thailand. Just returned from there and I have to say the beauty of the island , maya bay, phi phi island, Krabi, the snorkelling in the turquoise waters..the jungles and mind blowing..I have been to Bali, not mainland, Indonesia, 5 times and I wasn’t blown away ..great lifestyle there though....
Bali is part of Indonesia you know?
@@suraya3518please read…I have been to Bali and Bintan island only..not the other islands nor mainland Indonesia….
@@mashenka6189jelas Bali kalah logika aja pulau vs negara jelas kalah
Everywhere in the world is beautiful, but that doesn't mean we like it, we might like some places that suit us better.
Thank you had to subscribe, planning a trip to Thailand 😊
this is dumb question to answer. bali is only 1 small part of indonesia, you cant compare 1 region with 1 country
I've only been to Bali out of the two and out of all other places I've been in the world, Bali is easily in my top 3. I missed the Thailand trip due to just starting my new career but I will still go.
Stupid question. Bali is an island and a small part of a country. Thailand is a country. What´s next? What´s better, New York City or France?
They forgot atlantic
NYC
It was such a useful video Christian! Thank you!❤
Both are beautiful but to be honest an island vs whole country seems a bit odd 😁
Most people decide between traveling to bali or Thailand so actually it’s super relevant
@@lostleblanc typical white people.
@@lostleblanc Because people only know Bali rather than Indonesia, they know Bali but don't know Indonesia. When they go to Bali, they don't realize that they are in Indonesia, even though they are in Indonesia there are also many beautiful islands.
Merry Christmas Christian. Really enjoy the videos, Cheers
Beautiful video 👍👍
Thank ya !
The people in Bali are incredible🙏
Both places are beautifully amazing, but you cannot compare the two as Thailand is a country and Bali is small part of Indonesia which depends mainly on tourism. Oh, also you need to learn how to speak the local language (Bahasa Indonesia) if you call Bali as your home. How long have you been there? A couple of years I bet.
Great video. Very informative. Keep up the good work!!ive been to Thailand myself and agree with your views in it. But Bali is def my next destination
You are excellent in this capacity. Knowledge, personality and great salesmanship will take you far.
Compare 1 island from 17.000 (Indonesia) and a country thai 😆 different level hahahaha
I agree. Don’t do the fire rope jump!! 😂busted my ankle. Not worth it 😂
Looking forward to this one!
Thank you for this video :)
And Merry Christmas
I think the comparison should be Thailand vs. Indonesia.
Or Koh Phi Phi vs. Bali
That's more fare. Bali is in one of the 17,500 islands in Indonesia.
Thank you for sharing, but please make a fare comparison 👍
Wow! Such a great video!
Thailand country..
Bali island..
Thats not fair..
Bali n Phuket compare..
will you get bored if you just stay in phuket for a long time? if so, then it's the same, unless you say you're going to get bored living in Indonesia for a long time
Solid intro. Nice work!
Bali of course. You'll get lombok and labuan bajo. Tons of beaches, hills, mountains, and waterfalls. A month is not enough to explore
So...why are you still living in bali ,come on dude
@@upikabu1678 elu x aja yg tolol...padahal di video dia udah jelasin
Lombok and labuan bajo is not part of Bali you know? And Bali is island not a country so it's really unfair to compare Thailand which is a country, Dude
I'm from Thailand. I love Koh Samed, Koh Phayam and Koh Samui is my favorite! Haven't been to Bali yet, but it could be my next destination ❤️😊
what koh meaning? why always start with koh?
@@orangaring2804 it means Island
@@poparound ou that make sense
I was in bali recently but i came to pattaya and i am loving it, this place is so my vibe. You can smoke weed here which is nice and the whole relaxing vibe and ocean breeze feels more Mediterranean or Californian. But there are trashy smelly areas in Thailand i hated, Patong in Phuket and and Khaosan in Bangkok specifically.
I used to prefer Bali but now i prefer Thailand.
You went straight to tourist party areas, obviously it's going to be like that
Pattaya is paradise for a certain type of tourist of which I am not one.
Good day to you!
I am a senior rider on HONDA motorcycle from Japan.
I am enjoying camping ,touring and upload video.
Your travel video is so nice!
Awesome!
Full supported !
Have a nice day my friend!
My votes surely for Bali Hands Down !
So after watching the videos yeah Bali for sure 😄
Although I do absolutely and genuinely appreciate the amazing work you do for travellers but in my own humble opinion, you really can't compare the whole country to an island in another country. If you have compared Phuket (Thailand) with Bali (Indonesia), then that would be a fair assessment regarding comparisons. Personally I love both Thailand and Indonesia and if I were to choose it would be Thailand. But if I were to compare Bali with Lombok (both in Indonesia), many tourists would choose Bali but I would prefer Lombok. Surprisingly, I'm not that keen on Phuket compared to other parts of Thailand nor am I really that keen on Bali compared to other parts of Indonesia but if I were to choose between Phuket and Bali, it will be Bali (only just)
True but Bali is 10x bigger in mass compared to Phuket! Its sad that Thailand doesn’t have a bigger islands that are well maintained!
@@Iceyfire12 Bali is definitely bigger. Phuket is the biggest island and then it is Koh Samui
I loved Koh Samui most, because Pattaya is less tidy, I have not been to Phuket, but I have reviews from friends Samui is more pristine than Phuket
Bali itu pariwisata nya complete mau nyari gunung, sawah, danau, air terjun, club , pertunjukan budaya no debat semua ada
I’ve always had happy kind experiences with the people of Thailand however on two seperate trips have experienced aggression from the men street vendors in Bali. I enjoy both but Thailand is amazing, food, people, culture and its so beautiful.
❤❤
Thaeland pedagang kaki lima memaksa...tapi di Bali tidak memaksa
@ajegbali8333 I just got back from Bali and depending where you go I find the men can be pushy. Thailand and Bali are both beautiful but Thailand is my favourite.
@@messex-australia9700 Bali the best walaupun pulau kecil berani di sandingkan dengan negara Bali hebat bukan😂😂😂
Thailand all the way. Bali, as you mentioned, is unfortunately too western which is slowly killing the vibe of that beautiful island.
Bali impressed me alot I guys visit Skardu valley Pakistan 🇵🇰
I think Thailand has better beach, the sand is just so much nicer and the water clearer. The really nice thing about Bali is that you can do so many different things in such a compact area. You can go rafting, surfing, climb volcanos, enjoy the waterfall, visit monkeys, hangout in some aesthetic cafe/club with friends or tour the amazing rice terraces often all in the same day!
Bali has more than 100 beaches, have you visited all of them??
Labuan bajo, pink beach etc also beaitiful
Thailand country..
Bali island..

For the safety, and cheaper transport costs, I'd say BALI here I come in 2023 then Thailand would be next! I much needed this, I was actually torn in between. Thanks Christian, hope I get a booking at your new hotel.

Always love your channel. But sadly this is an unfair comparison. You should compare Bali with perhaps Phuket or Pattaya. If you would like to compare Thailand, then you should compare it with the whole Indonesia.
@@pickcick1580or compare Bali to Hawaii since they are almost similar in terms of offerings, besides the price tho 😅
@@sparcousa Agree...
I can’t believe it that you compare A PROVINCE to A COUNTRY. Bali is one of the provinces in Indonesia. Enjoy Bali.
I am considering buying some of that luggage. Wonderful video.
I never been in thailand. I dont know about crime. Bali has big crime in the night. Lot of robbery on the beach. Better to stay in the hotel at night. Stolen phones on the road...
Really well explained :) My first trip betting lost was Thailand, hehe, but now I urge for Bali. Hard choices.

Great explanation and comparisons.. thank you
There's nothing wrong with visiting Thailand or Indonesia. there is no need to bring down other countries to praise other countries. every place has positives and negatives. depending on each individual.
You shouldn't compare ASEAN because our country is heaven on earth

Thank you for comparing Thailand to Bali, it was a perfect answer to the exact question I had. Loved Thailand, excited for Bali 😍
Kuta was village. Canggu was a rice field. UBUD was a jungle. Nusa dua was the place to be back late 80s early 90s. One of our friends owns potatoe head resort in Bali. He’s a JIS alumni. Grew up in indo and Thailand. Expat kids. These days Bali and Thailand over ran by tourist.
It’s more like Bali vs Phuket
Better to compare island vs island not the comparison of whole Thailand )
Either way such a cool vlog as always ❤️
