Your truly" NORMALNESS" is refreshing, real and relatable. It's not glaringly apparent for the majority of UA-cam channels but they do act at it, and after a while, it becomes old. Thank you and keep being who and how you are.

I always look for a video from you every day. You two are good together. Like you mentioned, even though you wouldn't know me on the street I talk about you to my husband and a friend of mine like we are friends. LOL! My husband and I started the Ramsey plan last year. We couldn't follow everything either exactly the way it was put out there, but we have done the snowball principal and it has been so rewarding, especially now with all this stuff going on because I can stock up on a good deal when I need to and not worry about it. One thing that I thought was funny about your husband when it comes to clothes, finding something he really likes and then he goes and gets more in different colors. I have done that when I find a shirt or pants, etc that I really like I would get more of them in different colors. Congrats on the 11 years together. My husband and I are a blended family as well and we will be married for 32 years next month.

I absolutely love you two ! Your interactions are so great!! Todd, My husband and I are just like you, when I find a pair of shoes that I like and are comfortable I buy them in every color and some doubles.
Life never put me in a homesteading situation. I am a disabled 73 yr old. Was a single mom since I was 30 and worked always. Am a widow twice. The last 30 years I have been into preparedness. So I love everything that has to do with that and food. Livestock, gardens, canning, preserving. But you 2 are so cute together. Your videos are not only helpful but also enjoyable. So enjoying your channel.

Great video and life lesson...just started watching about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Grew up on a dairy farm and a mom who loved to preserve. Miss those days as I to am a Sr Telecom Engineer with a Bachelors degree in Info. Tech. Cant wait to retire in a couple of years and get back to the days of my youth. Keep up the good work and always have fun.

Hearing that you both have full time jobs amazes me! I'm still working full time and trying to be self sufficient and this vid has given me more motivation to keep trying! You sound very much like us. We have an 1890 historical home as you see here and a1940's family farm.
We have ALWAYS budgeted, paid off homes early, paid off vehicles early and now have been blessed to pay cash for vehicles over the last few decades. We also drive them till they die or they start to nickle and dime us to death. They are much needed yet have a pesky negative cash flow issue.4
We do the same thing with credit cards and paying the full bill each month. They have paid us many thousands of dollars over the years.
It has been great finding and watching you this summer! I preserve using all methods except cold smoking. That is on my list when we rebuild the smokehouse at the farm. Until then, my latest endeavour is freeze drying between the usual canning and freezing routine.
I just came across your channel the other day and I love you guys! I love the garden, the property and you both have great personalities. I’m having fun watching your past videos. I loved your video called “You Do You”! I too have raised beds that aren’t filled to the top! Keep up the great videos.

I'm a new subscriber, glad to hear you follow Dave Ramsey principles, I always try to share that with my friends, although it is very much a personal decision on how to run your financial life. My wife and I went to a Dave Ramsey class back in 2006 and have been fitting our life into those standards. I'm retired now as of this year, not been the best year to retire, but we'll be okay.
The debt snow ball is very rewarding!
We definitely went without while the kids were little and we were doing it hardcore... knocked out 35k credit card debt and 10k vehicle loan in a few years, knocked out the school loans, refinanced our house to a 15 year mortgage (6 years left and 4 years in the home equity loan to build a handicap bathroom) we definitely lost traction several times! But the general principles and remembering how stressful it was to have debt definitely keeps us from carrying a balance on our cards! And we definitely have cut out large impulsive purchases...
Love the “realness” of your channel. I’m in IT too and can’t wait to get into my garden when I get home. I’ve not been able to work from home during this pandemic so it is my sanctuary at the end of the day.
You guys are such down to earth people and a fun couple! So glad I accidentally landed on one of your videos!! I am currently watching some oldies but look forward to more new ones.

I watch a lot of videos. Homesteaders mostly. But, you two make me want to get up and get it done. Made the Cowboy Candy this morning ( wait 2 weeks or a month to eat it ? not likely it smells amazing ! stuck my finger in the syrup, yum ! ). Thanks for this video, it's nice to get to know you two a bit better since I'm a fairly new subscriber. I didn't know about Dave Ramsey but my wife and especially me have been allergic to debt forever. We try to pay down any debt we have and NEVER have credit card balances, I always pay them off in full every month. I am constantly looking for ways to pay down vehicle balances as soon as we free up available cash. Also, our only son may be out of the house soon and we are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives.

Rachael, we share the same mindset about so many things, that's why I enjoy your channel, it's like having a visit with a friend.
I'm also very frugal. All the furniture in our house except our beds and work desks come from thrift stores and I mean ALL. If it is dated, scrappy looking or needs fixing up then I take it home and refinish it myself.
Our children do not want for anything, they are beautifully presented and very appreciative and polite kids. We don't buy them expensive clothes or shoes because it's not necessary!
I grow our own food and do most of the handiwork around our home (including renovations and painting walls). I'm a very creative person (photographer by trade) so creating a beautiful and comfortable home on a dime is very much my thing and I'm loving how rewarding it is.
Todd, OH BOY, when Rachael materialised into the scene to pick tomatoes a couple of days ago, I actually squealed with delight, it looked so good! Well done you!!
My husband (who is also in IT !) and I are considering getting our first hive. (We had a natural one in our gum tree [we live in Australia] but I think it may have died this winter because there is no bee activity whatsoever 😭) He will be the primary career of the bees as I just have too much on right now, so I'll be sure to send him to your Beekeeping playlist!
On your next informational video could you PLEASE talk about and show more pics of your doxies? Their names, personalities, quirks, etc. As I've mentioned before, I have 2 long-haired English Cream doxies and it's fun to see them in others homes. I am a manager at Meijer where I live and I shop at Aldi. Even in my uniform shirt, I still drive to Aldi when I need anything.

I love these Q&As! I’m happy to have been here for all of your journey, your channel is one of my absolute favorites. I love that you don’t make your videos 30-45 minutes long. I’d rather be able to watch several different channels in one day than have to choose who to skip that day. The longer ones usually get skipped, even if I love the channel. You’re doing a great job and you’re so relatable and real. I think it’s funny that you are so different from each other, but instead of getting all bitter about it, you just laugh it off. My husband and I are exact opposites as well.

We are the "Brady Bunch"...3 boys and 3 girls (and 5 grandkids now) Haha. Blended families are hard sometimes but the extra love and family make up for it all! ❤

Blended families are amazing!!! After having 10 rape babies beaten out of me as a preteen and teenager the doctors told me I couldn't have kids. I beat all odds and wound up very unexpectedly pregnant. When I was 6 months pregnant with my now 7yo daughter I met my better half who at the time had a 3yo daughter and his ex wife was expecting our son a month after my daughter was due lol. Then we got pregnant with our now 4yo daughter. So all in all I have my eldest 11yo daughter and 7yo son who are my chosen children and my 7yo and 4yo daughters that are my birth children. I wouldn't change them for the world. We are trying for one more and have been for 3 years now. Back in January we buried our son that we lost when I was 15 weeks pregnant. We pray to get another chance. I can't stand the name of "step" daughter or son so I chose to say chosen.
I have been a part of two blended family's since I was 17 yrs old... But never lived in either of my parents homes once they were remarried because I was on my own at 17 and 3 months! I call my step family "BONUS" MOM, DAD, SISTERS AND BROTHERS! THEY ARE ALL A HUGE BONUS TO MY FAMILY AND LIFE!

I loved this video, watching you both talk honestly about every day things that are personal to you is a lovely thing to see. I always come away from your videos with a new piece of knowledge or a new direction to follow in life, from how to grow my own sweet potatoes (who knew) to looking into financial matters from Dave Ramsay principals, im from the UK and have never heard of him but i will take this learning curve from your video and look into it to see if it helps me to save for an easier future financially. I lost my wife of 17 years but partner of 36 years a little under 3 years ago and now the kids are adults and working and university i need more stability in my life to allow them to benefit from any changes i can make financially. So even though you guys do these videos because either its a release or you get pleasure from it, please let me thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing them as i have found enormous help and a kind of path i not so much follow 100% but snoop over the fence and watch how it should be done correctly.
