@@RambossTheTerrible Haley Reinhart appeared on S10 of American Idol. She was given no backstory and was the only contestant routinely criticized. Typically for things like song choice to suggest she had given a bad performance when she did not. As a result, she finished in the bottom three 4X before finishing third overall behind two teenager country music singers.
Haley has signed with a major label before. Jimmy Iovine - founder of Interscope - was the Idol mentor that season. He signed Haley to a major deal. Haley's debut album included a deluxe version only available at Walmart. Haley wanted a hand in writing her album and she has cowriting credit on 13 of 14 songs.
Iovine left Interscope to take Beats (by Dre) public. Haley and a couple of dozen other artists were let go. She never had the chance to tour with a full band to promote the album.
The first single didn't do well, but based on the stickers on the CDs it looked liked two more songs were slated to be the next singles. One of them was used in a movie and another in a commercial. in fact several other songs on the album ended up in TV shows and commercials.
Since Haley has writing credit those placements provided income for Haley and her publisher. They agreed to back the production of an EP. Around this same time Haley was appearing with PMJ, which featured a vocalist a week. She soon became the most-viewed vocalist on the established channel.
Haley stopped performing with PMJ for five years until yesterday. Likely in part because she was so strongly identified with the group and didn't want to be known as a cover artist.
Her work with PMJ led to Haley being asked to record a demo of "Can't Help Falling in Love" for an Extra gum ad campaign. She won the job. They recorded the song in two to three takes per the audio engineer. He stated there was "no comping" meaning they didn't splice the recordings together.
Haley's version of CHFIL went viral, charted, and earned her a platinum record. The music publisher expanded the EP to a full album and added CHFIL making 11 tracks.
The success of CHFIL led to Haley fielding offers from record labels. She signed with Concord. There are now only three major labels. Concord is one of the biggest non-majors and artist friendly. They released vinyl and CD versions of her album. There was a deluxe version distributed at Target that included two bonus tracks.
This album was different in that it was mostly covers of mid-to-late 1960s classic rock songs that were recorded to analogue tape using vintage equipment at Sunset Sound. The covers earned unsolicited praise online from Jefferson Airplane, the Zombies, the Turtles, and the Boxtops.
She's friends and sometimes appears with Robby Krieger of The Doors. They met performing at a charity event. She also performed on Jeff Goldblum's first jazz album, which was recorded live.
Haley independently produced and released her fourth album under her own label, Reinhart Records.
Side note: If you've ever seen the animated show "F is For Family" on Netflix, Haley voices the redheaded son "Bill" (basically comedian Bill Burr as a child).

Kathy here - just found your channel. And yes, Haley is amazing. You need to check out her songs when she was on American Idol. She didn't win, and I think it was because people didn't think she was "wholesome" enough. But yes, she could sing the phone book and make it sound awesome. I think you have a little crush! LOL
So I am over a year late seeing your take on her amazing performance. I watch people react to her for one of two reasons, vocal coaches to see if they know anything about what they are saying, and guys to watch them fall in love with Haley over the course of a single song. I have yet to see a single man that is not affected by her performance of this song. She literally was the perfect choice.

The skill comes from a work ethic that matches her sensual aspect.

Adorable Haley slaying it in her usual way, she could sing the phone book and we would be mesmerised by her sultry dulcet tones. She's claimed another victim, Haley has melted Ramboss he has puppy dog eyes for her alone. This singer isn't super famous because she's her own boss and refuses to play the music industries game. I respect her for that😊
I think you're one of the best reactors I've seen. You have a good voice and natural delivery. Format puts you up close and intimate so it's almost like sitting next to you.
If you're not familiar with classic rock reacting to it is something you might consider. Older people like seeing younger people react to songs for the first time that are familiar to them. The use of well-known songs helps people find you through search and recommendations.
I genuinely appreciate the kind words. I have had a hard time finding my niche on UA-cam and I think I may have just found it. Seeing such low interaction with many videos that took me literally almost 24 hours to record and edit is a morale killer. You just helped push me to continue. Thank you very much!

The other one I'd put right up there with this one is Postmodern Jukebox's cover of Aerosmith's Dream On featuring Morgan James. @@RambossTheTerrible "dream on" by pmj/morgan james is great and an excellent performance. even the string arrangement is extraordinary (especially the cello guy)... however, "creep" is on a whole other level imho. the only other cover that comes close to touching the soul that way is "hurt" by johnny cash

Another singer that has a lot of emotion when she sings is Angelina Jordan. She recently dropped a cover of Adele's easy on me. Her voice is phenomenal for a 15-year-old. Haley is the modern day female pied piper ,she is hypnotic in every way! Done in one take and she , it was reported was half sick at the time with a cold or something .

@@RambossTheTerrible ok have a look at Frog Leap Studios start with the cover of Africa or Sultans Of Swing or Dance Monkey. After the video there is usually an small outro always worth listening to especially the one on Africa. Frog Leap Studios does covers of classic tracks in a heavy Metal style with a comedic twist. I am not a fan of heavy metal but their videos are worth a look think they have about 4mil followers. Worth looking at even if you don't like heavy. Also worth a look and very popular is the Rock/Opera group Nightwish start with either Phantom Of The Opera or Ghost Love Score. They have a huge following

Out of left field is this one Pantera "Cowboys From Hell" - Hurdy Gurdy & drums cover - Guilhem Desq. A lot of people have never heard of the Hurdy Gurdy and those that know it see it as a folk instument or a title in an old Donovan Song "Hurdy Gurdy Man".

We saw Haley for the first time when she was on American Idol ... many season's ago. She was one of our very favorites that season. She has an amazing voice, with both power and range. She has lots of things she can do with her voice (and her "sex kitten" persona). The rasp, the growls, the little cracks and breaks ... and she definitely is captivating in this video. She was on American Idol a long time ago and didn't win, but should have. You should check out her performance of House of the Rising Sun - I still go back and watch it now and then. She's so good.

The reason why Haley isn't world famous is because she has been refusing to sign a record deal with a big major record label for years. Hence, she always remains very obscure. As hardly anyone has ever heard of her, let alone have heard her sing. Nonetheless, she is definitely a world class talent. As her voice is off the charts and her vocal control is nothing short of amazing.
Furthermore, Haley is by far the best vocalist to have ever performed with PMJ. As all her music videos on PMJ's rather extensive UA-cam Channel have the highest view counts. While the cover of "Creep" that you just reacted to remained on the Billboard Digital Jazz Chart for 58 straight weeks.
Anyway, Haley's next two most viewed music videos on the PMJ UA-cam Channel are "Seven Nation Army" and "Oops, I Did It Again". Both those videos, should you do the honor of reacting to them, will absolutely blow you and your subscriber base away.
I genuinely appreciate the well written and thought out response. From what I have seen of her this far, she is extremely talented and the only thing that could hold her down would be her own decision to be more obscure. Her superstar status with PMJ is well deserved and I am excited to react to more of her down the line. Thanks for the info, too!

I mean, music artists that are signed to record labels garner over a 100 million views in a matter of six months. Meanwhile, it took Haley over six freaking years and that's the only freaking video she has with that enormous view count. While music artists signed to record labels have numerous videos with way over a 100 million views.
I mean, how narrow-minded and utterly ill informed can you be? If Haley is not obscure, then why does all of her other music videos not on this one particular PMJ UA-cam channel hardly have any views?
