    So my basic question is, if you are a beginner and started doing crossfit, will this movement help with strength gains at all?

      No. He says at the very beginning to get 5-6 strict pulls ups and then learn kipping pull ups before even thinking about butterfly pull ups.

    One “cue” my coach likes to give me is “don’t look at me”. What does she mean? She doesn’t elaborate further on that.

    Ok, I get it, it's just for competition, but what's the point of doing it like that in the first place? Why not compete a strict pull ups? Or is it like an american thing that has to be different from the rest of the world?

      Why do Olympic lifters "jerk" the weight up above their head instead of strict pressing? Not everything has to be isolated. Whole body movements are also good for you.

      I think if you see the video properly he clearly mentioned that this is for sport purpose only and not for muscle building
