Hey whats up I love your videos they inspired me to get into spearfishing. I was wondering if you could help me out. I just started out but I'm having trouble staying at the bottom. I keep floating back up to the surface. I weigh about 145lb and use a 3mm wetsuit with 8lbs of weight on my belt. Anyway I can fix this?
530AM 04/01, first day of Cod & Tog season over here on the North Shore in New England. Got all my gear prepped (including my weights) and I'm about to head out. Going to be rainy and overcast 40° air/40° water with an offshore storm blowing from the South East rolling through, but I'm hoping the coast will block the wind and leave the North side a little calmer. I got about a quarter mile hike through woods and over seaweed covered rocks when I get there. Looking forward to the dive- maybe get some lobster, oyster, and if I get lucky and early season cod. Stoked to get wet and glad I got to start my day with another sick vid from my Hawaiian brotha! YEW!
@@hawaiihammahs swell stayed on the South Side so the dive spot was calm as a cucumber all day. The wind blew East most of the night so when high tide hit around 915AM the water was about as clear as it gets around here. 10m vis on a rainy overcast day with low wind and fat rain drops turning my ascents into a surreal dream before breaking the surface and taking a breath in the real world. The light was making the bottom glow as I slowly soared through caverns of untouched beauty. Found a cave buried deep in an unassuming rock wall big enough to swim into with a tiny escape hatch at the back barely big enough to squeeze my 6'2" frame through. After a few scout missions I decided to try and make it through not realizing that the big open mouth and little back entrance was sucking in swell and forcing me deeper inside the cave. Nearly at the end of my breath hold I decided to attempt the exit being extremely careful not to disturb the 10 ton rocks delicately balanced on top of me. I had to contort my body into a Z like structure to get my chest out first before following suit with my legs/fins. Was under for around a minute but the whole experience will stay with me for a lifetime. Stay Calm; Dive Deep. -AWC-
You didn't forget your weight belt this time. I never forgot my weight but I did my flipper a few times, hehe I don't know why. I am gonna buy a pole spear too, something told me that a pole spear will improve my basic hunting skills compare to a gun. Enjoying your videos.

I can tell you some sick places in hana if you want to trade spots haha but I'm not nearly as good a diver as you I'm a 52 yr old white guy from Alaska haha

I was all stoked to get off work early enough to hopefully go surf before sunset had to run home first was really excited and stoked because I knew the waves was really good, so got ready and drove from pearl City up to the North shore, got to the spot took a quick look at the waves went back to the car frothing went to get ready and noticed I forgot my fricken board!🤯😫
Epic catch! Too bad those Roi are invasive and have cig, in my part of the world they are one of our most prized fish. We actually get all of the same species as you guys, the only thing I havent seen here is Knifejaw.
@@hawaiihammahs we do get it for sure, not as bad as you guys. We have a few other species which get much larger, we have a type of Roi called a Bluespot trout which gets to 20kg, we call that a Cig bomb. Love your videos btw. If you ever want to come to Aus, you got someone to dive with.
