- A devastated father is seeking answers on how his son Katlego Bereng's remains ended up in Thabo Bester's prison cell in Mangaung. His charred remains were initially thought to be those of Bester who was declared dead in a duped suicide plot, which was the final step in his escape plan.
Newzroo Afrika's Linda Mnisi is in Tembisa and speaks to Mpholo's father, Mpho Mpholo.

Nandipha is actually a very dangerous cunning criminal. Imagine all those times she was on Mac G podcast acting normal whilst killing people, abusing dead bodies & robing families of having a dignified burial. The deceased went through so much pain spiritually, next thing she'll start claiming to be insane yet she's a sadistic cold hearted evil woman. She must face the music individually for her crimes, the crimes she committed mustn't be mixed up with Thabo Bester she did by herself & mustn't blame him for what she did

To answer question 2: I think they had already tried to test other people cz the mother said they did not explain to her why they needed her DNA or whose body were they testing against, I think they did not wanna give her false hope. Also with the second attempt of the DNA the first sample WA never lost, they wanted to confirm that's why they ran a second test. Also he's from Bloem I think it made sense to test peoplr who had "missing cases" around that area
And they failed to find her when he was admitted in the hospital.. smh

I think Nandipah was given a body that was long not identified at the mortuary.
And that happened most of the time when the deceased was not surrendered by a closed family.

I felt this father's pain. He reminds me of my friend who died of natural causes a few years ago. At his Home Going Service, his father said: 'In times of peace, it is normal for fathers to die before their sons. In times of war, it is normal (acceptable) for sons to die before their fathers.' Then he concluded with this statement: ' But ladies and gentlemen, we live in a time of peace and my son Norman, died before me'.😢

This is a good interview, it highlights the life of a man whose body was used by callous people to cheat justice, as if he was nothing.
As we can see, this man was a father, a son, he had friends. This was a terrible crime. Those involved must pay the price.

Very heart breaking indeed… however the question we must ask is why was the body kept for almost a year in the same city… same police station where the family reported Katlego missing… same mortuary they checked… ?and what makes my blood boil is that Katlego’s body was discovered also almost a year ago burnt in a prison cell and they knew the body was not that of Thabo Bester… and the police were alerted … yet they never thought to call all the families including Katlego’s who had filed a missing persons report? Was this maybe a cover up so that we never find out that they had let Bester out… surely the arm of Bester’s money was too long and big to silence a whole police station and prison. The real culprits who must pay for this are the officials who kept this whole saga and tormented this family for a whole year everyday wondering whatever happened to their son yet he was there in the same city with them hidden to cover Nandipha, Bester and the officials crimes…#Justice for Katlego

I dont think he has been a good father to Katlego. Let's acknowledge a couple of uncomfortable truths, you can not be worried by your son's whereabouts after Months and weeks missing
Its not unusual for adult kids to go a few weeks without checking in… not all kids speak to parents daily
And apart from him missing for months I couldn't help it but to realize that he said he left the mother when she was 2 months pregnant, then told himself he will go back when he is done with school and started working and only went there in 2018, by that time he was already married and had other kids so he had money to marry and maintain other kids while Katlego is out there. Meaning the mother was not struggling since she conceived the baby. I am not judging nor trying to be insensitive though.

That's not a fair assessment. Katlego was 32years old and we don't know any details about his upbringing. Many men move to Gauteng looking for employment and remain there for various reasons. He kept up on social media on his son's whereabouts.
I don't think the family will ever heal from this..I can't Even begin to imagine how his mother is feeling .. and what might be going thru her mind as this point .. may God give this family strength 🙏🏾

For me I'm really worried about the upbringing of kids in Black communities. The dumping of babies with magogos is now a culture. Look at both Thabo and Kaglego, never had mother and father love, never even knew them. RIP young man and condolences to the family. Katlego had a PRESENT dad, turned out to be a great dad and lover, had a cycle of genuine friends. I saw his post on Facebook wishing his dad a birthday or Father's day. Him living with grandma doesn't mean they abandoned him, grandparents love their grandchildren so much that they sometimes take them while parents are working.
We don't dump our kids 😮😮 it's remember there's unemployment. Others work as domestic workers, do you expect them to stay with their kids and madams kids. We still have a long way to go to catch up with other races. So as a black person I'd rather leave my child with my parents if I find employment.

Well done to Linda Mnisi for how he carried out this interview! There couldn’t have been any journalist who could have this better than he did. At some point I felt like his own voice was shaky as he witnessed Ntate Mpholo cry.
I am very worried about the coincidence of the hight,Ipopeng township in Bloemfontein and that of my late brother's son Thembinkosi Nteo who is also missing. I am gravely concerned. His brother is telling me that he can't be assisted.

However l’m very upset with the whole system, ie the police and the prison.. a whole year has passed and they knew the body that burned was not Bester yet all this Dna was not done now all of sudden because Bester was arrested they have completed in weeks really… ?This family is going through a lot but to be made fools is just despicable and disgraceful for the police… who do they think they are fooling?
