Watching some of these games when Man U was in its pomp, there are three things that are really striking. The first is the names of such very gifted players - Giggs, Kanchelskis, Cantona, Beckham, Butt, Scholes, Neville, Irwin, Cole, Ince etc.The second is the pairings at the heart of defence - Bruce/Pallister, Ferdinand/Vidic, Brown/O’Shea. Finally, there is the amazing work ethic. The players hunt down every ball when the opposition is in possession. When Man U is in possession every player makes space for a pass. If they lose possession they get back so fast the opposition is closed down. Oh for such glory days again. And oh for such names.
ManUtd had won the double the season before, had thrashed Newcastle with new signing Shearer 4-0 in the CharityShield and went on to win the PL again that season (and got to ChampionsLeague semi-finals unlucky vs the eventual winners Dortmund). Are you thinking too much about ManUtd now and thinking it's the same as getting hammered at home by them now? ManUtd were like ManCity back then. Anyway Leeds improved a lot in the game at OldTrafford that season only losing 1-0 via a penalty.

An ancient and injury ravaged Mark Hateley only player who came close to scoring for Leeds in the entire 90mins.
haha Cantona's celebration in front of the Leeds fans 🤣🤣🤣😂
Managed to rattle them lot 😂
Chav fans would jump the barrier and attack him these days
@@horzu3391 and they would get knocked out, one by one.
Cruyff was so underated, plagued by injuries but still carved out a solid career 👍
Poborsky’s best performance in a United shirt
When Cantona missed that pen I thought he meant to.
Poborsky looks like Eric Idle 😂
I was there
forgot Lee Sharpe played for Leeds
I think even sharpie forgot he played for them 😂
i forgot ian rush played for leeds
ManUtd literally sold him to Leeds. I could've understood more if you said you forgot he played for Bradford.
Sharpy shouldn't have been sold. Ruined his career. Hard to come back once abandoned..
The end for Wilkinson at Leeds......
😈😈😈😈😈😈😈
Why did the ref wink after the pen booking
Whatever happened to Poborsky?
If I remember correctly went to Benfica in December 1997
@@manutdretrorever7z ahh he left mid-season?
@@viandramonisyaf8623 👍
@@viandramonisyaf8623Went to Lazio and was excellent as well at a time when Serie A was a top league.
Think he ended up playing in the Champions League a few years later for Sparta Prague against United, 2004-5.
Imagine: being part of a team that gets beaten 4-0 at HOME by MANCHESTER UNITED!! You'd want to quit to become a stamp collector or a train spotter.
