Uninspired, uninteresting, unprofessional, and downright un-American. The US Men’s National Team is unadulterated terribleness. That is unbelievable in its own right. Failure at Copa America was another self-inflicted disaster from an underperforming side whose results ungulate more than a roller coaster at Universal Studios. Undeniably, we’ve come to understand the team would rather be doing just about anything else. In a word, unprofessional. From a fan’s perspective utterly unbearable.
Here’s a question: When did America have a men’s national team we could be proud of? 2014, probably. I mean, when Belgium scored that extra-time goal in the World Cup 2014 round of 16, it was the unofficial end of US soccer’s age of enlightenment.
In the ten years since World Cup Brazil, U.S. soccer has declined. Not necessarily from a talent standpoint. But from a team standpoint, from a willingness to play for not only the flag but also one another, well, these are non-existent.
For several years now, every time the U.S. takes the field, it looks like a bunch of random dudes playing a pickup game in the park. Some of that is on the coach, but a lot of it rests on the players, who seem to think they are much better than they really are.
In many ways, this is the exact opposite of what we saw from the USMNT during the 2000s. That team did not have a lot of talent. There were good players, but they didn’t overwhelm anyone with skill.
Instead, they were going to make you earn a result. They worked. And if you didn’t have your working boots on, the US was going to beat you. And that was a side and a style that Americans were proud of. Sure, we weren’t even going to win the World Cup. But we were going to make the opposition earn everything.

As some are saying, this team is made of spoiled kids who never suffered. On top of that, it doesn't help that Nike also has a hand of the US's misfortunes on the field and organization. This whole organization needs to be disbanded and made new without anyone from the previous organization.

The best generation of the U.S. national team was when they had Tim Howard in net, Micheal Bradley in defence (but who could play make), Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan making magic up front!! That team was fun to watch growing up.. those class of players have never really been replaced

Against Uruguay, even though you guys lost, you can hold your head high, a lot of teams including Argentina and Brazil, have recently lost to them. And also another point is that every nation has bad tournaments. The key thing is how the team and federation respond to this. The world cup is in 2 years, plenty of football to be played and more importantly, time to get it right.

If we want a good national team then we have to start at the base of the pyramid : Youth development.
First : the USSF must ensure that everywhere in the USA the parents of a child do not have to pay more than $250 (license + club membership) for him to be able to play all year round.
Then we must develop academies (in professional clubs) for the best kids aged 13 to 16 yo, 100% free for families.

If America was actually competent and understanding the feeling of true victory then America would change its mindset into a Football (not American Football) But real football into its pipeline and jump start the youth in training football academies..
So the US will host the next World Cup, it better that you prepare the event with the utter amount of respect for this hard performing sport.

Not true. USA played very well in Copa America. They lost but with dignity. They have a good team. US soccer has been on the up since 2002. I believe you need to watch these games again . In sports you don’t always win. It’s how you play. They played well.

You guys never had a decent football team, never!
Even the fact that you keep referring to it as "soccer" proves that you don't really understand the game. I mean, just look at you "playoffs", and all the crazy stuff you tried to do to "soccer" when you tried to make it popular in USA.

I’d have to disagree with you. I don’t really care about how much passion or running around you’re willing to do. No amount of passion will replace footballing ability or skill. The goal is to be great not get a result. Also it seems only American rated their team so highly, cmon lad that team is average at best and so are most of those players

Since when did the US care about soccer? I strongly advise you to stop doing that, only heartache and misery await.Keep to sports that no one else plays , or gives a damn about , like Baseball and American Football. You will never, ever ,amount to much in world football, and loserville is not a place that the American psyche can abide.

We suck cuz our players are standard american footballers. Kids whos parents had enough money to put them on a travel team and so the were pampered and didnt have to ever faace adversity or work hard to play. And even if they "play" in europe, other than Pulisic nobody else really does much in those leagues, or they play for a shitty team or lower leaue team. But cuz they play in europe its our golden generation.
