If you were paid $240k a year base, not including bonuses and kickbacks, to research the cause of homelessness, would you find a cure and give up the gravy train? No.

      Sure
But lets say you have to move to LA to help
Now you owe a 10-30 year mortage
Lets say you find the cure
How would you pay for the mortage you just took?
      They're not necessarily evil people

Jennifer Friedenbach 'works tirelessly' to keep getting her six figure salary as the kingpin of the San Francisco Homeless Industrial Complex. SHE is single-handedly responsible for the growing number of 'unhoused' drug tourists who call San Francisco home. This is not a housing issue, it's a drug addiction/mentally ill crisis! The solution to this problem is forced rehab for addicts and mentally ill.

This is why liberal voters and conservative voters alike should only vote for populists. Get rid of the establishment.
At least conservative voters are attempting to do that by voting for people like Trump. Liberal voters keep voting for whoever the TV tells them to vote for. Whoever the TV hates is exactly who you should be voting for.

Ive even dealt with individuals who had their bus tickets paid for by the city or police dept to have them come to san francisco because they are told they get treated better and are even paid an allowance which is true many are given resources but very few actually try to take advantage of it since they realize they get a lot of things free

Cost of living is not the problem. It’s the lack of crime prevention. Homeless flock there because the accountability of that city is done and they know it. I love homeless, I have worked with them my whole life but the truth is the truth. Unless they ask you to get off the streets (there are sooooooo many programs that will do it all for you and they know it too, that help you before you’re at that point) but if they don’t ask they don’t want it. They want to be where there at, at the moment. Until they’re done they will stay out there or they’ll stay out their whole lives. Unfortunately 99% of the homeless is out there due to drugs which then exhibits mental health problems. Very rarely are people just out there due to mental health crisis, it does happen I’ve seen it but it’s only about 1% from what I’ve witnessed. Although I do love them, just like in any society there has to be rules. If you give them rules they will follow them to keep living outside and to do their addictions. If there was more enforcement of cleanliness and rules this problem could be fixed. Also arresting a lot of them when they do commit crimes and break the law will help them and save their lives. Especially the ones on the verge of dying of addiction, disease, prostitution (unsafely) etc.
I’ve seen ways that the situation can be helped but if we keep ignoring it, it will only get worse.

Yes, we have a housing crises, but greater than that is the fact that we have a severe untreated mental health crises which fuels addiction which then in turn, for many, leads to living agonizing lives in filthy gutters and eventual death. Between Jan 1 and today (9/28/23) close to 600 corpses have been removed from the streets of my city - folks who died form taking too many opiates! We have an epidemic of destruction, agony and death here. WHAT, just what are Democrat officials here doig about this inhumane problem? The answer: NOT ONE DAMN THING, yet, they'll tell you everyday with a smirk on thier faces that they are the party of compassion. Compassion my ass! THIS is the utopia the woke left always envisioned as they cancel everyone who disagrees with them, and while they destroy and re-write history and forge a new language that we all must speak to apease them. All this awfulness makes them come despite the fact that their hands are all soaked in the blood of their victims.

Most of your comment is grossly exaggerated partisan conspiracy hysteria all pulled together, so I won’t engage you on all of it, and I’m not defending Dems, but I would like to know how would Republicans handle it? Republicans tend to cut social services which are badly needed in these cases. Like colossally. We saw our first wave of major homelessness, since the great depression, decades ago when Reagan gutted social services and mental health services. Do Republicans champion more services because I sure don’t hear them doing it. Cut taxes for the wealthy, deregulate, and cut social services is their way. And I’ll never believe some of these red state communities aren’t sending homeless to states like California. So is this really just a Dem problem or is there more than just a little blame to go all around?

  • @Thatwasianboii
    @Thatwasianboii 10 місяців тому +2

I like the reasoning behind Trump's call to ban public encampments but offering the choice for rehabilitation. That said, I also think we need to invest in mental health infrastructure to secure adequate and appropriate individualized care. Unfortunately, simply giving out such vouchers and what not is more like a handout, encouraging dependency. Like they said in the video, there are resources being offered, and yet they're not taking them up. We've tried providing resources, and it's still not biting. To dramatically combat the issue, we need to hit it with force. I mean, it's not like we're heartless individuals. We want these folks to be healthy and contributing members to society. Perhaps less choice and more of a push is what it'll take to really get the wheels moving.

As a Californian, safe to say we need to criminalize homelessness. Plenty of space in jail and free education. Plus, lots of ex-cons come out with GEDs or other more marketable skills.
Don't want to invest another dollar in this situation!

We have nothing, absoltuly nothing to loose and everything to gain. The status que is fine the the woke loosers. These people are dying at a rate of about 3 per day here in SF. The dems have blood on thier hands. This is all on them

Politicians in San Francisco create policies that cause more homelessness. For stolen items from stores or cars of less than $950 there will be no arrest, no consequence. This policy caused many stores and restaurants in Oakland and SF to shut down their business and to lay off workers. If the rent of 2 bedroom apartment is $3000/month, 4 restaurant workers could share and each pay $750/month. When the restaurant shut down, the 4 workers had no money and became homeless. A homeless man in this video said that he used to work in the restaurant and the restaurant shut down. To reduce the number of homeless, we need to vote out the politicians who create problematic policies.

No one can afford to live in an apartment! Rent is through the damn roof!! The only thing I can currently afford is an RV. I rent from a kind gentleman who was willing to let my son and I stay in his RV. I'm very grateful we aren't living in our car but many folks are. It doesn't have as much to do with mental health as the idiots in Washington would have you believe. It's about affordable housing!! Better to blame it on "mental health" than admit that there's a HUGE wealth gap and middle class people can not afford rent.

San Jose, just 50 miles south of San Francisco, is my hometown. A key reason why the homeless crisis is so bad in the Bay Area is the competitive job market which is driven by so many technology companies. It is neither financially nor temporally cheap to be tech savvy to the point where you can score an entry level position at places like Apple, Cisco, or Facebook which will pay all of your monthly bills and still have enough left over for luxuries like Netflix. By the Bay Area's standards, you aren't considered poor if you can afford rent and utilities every month even if it means eating out of cans, McDonald's, or pound after pound of Ramen noodles. It is hard enough for even the most educated and experienced tech professionals to find and/or keep jobs since massive layoffs are no longer surprising. Combine that with the already high cost of living, such as $2000 per month for a studio apartment in a neighborhood you feel semi safe in, and it is no wonder that the homeless crisis is astronomical in the Bay Area. The right can complain non-stop about the left aren't doing enough to mitigate the homeless crisis, but I fail to see how the tax cuts they ecstatically dole out to the wealthy are beneficial and I also find it highly unlikely that Elon Musk, whom the right hailed as a savior when he shelled out $44 billion for Twitter, would ever consider sheltering the homeless despite all of the office space he cleared when he laid off at least half of Twitter's staff. As for Florida, I would tell Ron DeSantis to go to hell since weather in the Sunshine State has made countless residents too expensive to insure thereby raising their risks of being homeless.

Why does this seem to happen only in Democrat areas? Tax revenues out the arse yet can’t help people get off drugs and off the street. There is almost a purposeful failure to not acknowledge opioids and other drugs are mostly behind by why these people choose to live the way they do, yet Cali, Portland, Seattle etc all pretend it’s high costs. When you set standards, people follow them if enforced hence why Texas and Florida are not nearly as bad

Everyone knows that most allocated funds for the homeless don't go into helping people. The majority of funds go into the administrative and other costs. It's a bureaucratic game that is more focused on helping the issue as opposing to solving it.
