Thanks for all of the feedback so far I'm going to try experiment these next few weeks with different types of videos to see what sticks I'm also going to try to upload a few music reactions but I won't be able to upload only music reactions like I did in the past until the restrictions are lifted off of the channel. Thank you all for understanding.

There are some reactors such as andy & alex for example, that put reactions to certain groups known for copyright strikes on patreon and only put safer stuff on UA-cam. Some will put a video on UA-cam that's just the review of the song but no misic and a link to another site like dailymotion with the actual reaction

In the long run it'll be the artist who loses. Many young people are discovering new sounds, new groups from The Righteous Brothers to Marshall Tucker Band to AC/DC to Eminem and they like it enough to buy a download - all thanks to reaction channels. How else does an artis from 20 - 60 years ago expect to get exposure to younger demographics...

Even newer ones lose out. The only reason so many people in the US know about Dimash Kudaibergen is because of all the reactions to his music on YT. He was super interested in breaking into America in a bigger way and was really cool about letting reactors react to his music without blocking any of it and, man, it really got him out in front of a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't even know he existed. Then, sadly, he hired a new management team that started copyright claiming and blocking every reaction to his music on YT. Now he's kind of dropped off the YT radar again and that momentum he was building in the US appears to be slowing down.
Granted, he's a superstar all across Asia, huge in Russia, and probably isn't hurting for money so maybe they don't feel he needs the extra exposure... but I can tell you that the vast majority of people in America still have no idea who he is. His new management team basically killed the very movement that was introducing him into the market they're hoping to break. It's SO DUMB.
That being said, I think it needs to be said that a lot of reactors on YT don't help artists and publishers see the value of reactions. When you play an entire song without pausing, people can just come to your channel to listen to the song instead of going to the artist's channel and giving them the click. If all reactors paused more, it would be harder to argue that it was a replacement for just going to the artist's channel. Also, a lot of reactors just nod along and then, at the end, say, "Okay, thanks for watching. If you liked my reaction, click and subscribe..." etc. and don't actually add any value to the video. They just basically hijack the person's song and monetize themselves sitting in front of it. I can see why artists and publishers would be against that. Unfortunately, people who give real reactions (like James, Jamel, RSR, etc) get treated the same way even though they're genuinely sharing reactions. And even vocal coaches - who are bringing added value by using the music as a teaching tool - end up getting treated like the reactors who don't add value.
TBH, the whole thing's just a mess. The lazy reactors ruin it for everyone else and the artists who don't take the time to understand what the real reactors are doing for them just stomp on everyone indiscriminately. It's unfortunate.

Exactly this. It's such incredibly bad business to work against UA-cam (and Twitch etc) content creators today instead of with them. They're basically turning down a free advertisement super highway straight into the hearts of the very target groups it would benefit them the most to reach just out of some stubborn greedy mindset that "if you didn't pay for it, you're not using it". But I'm guessing these companies are ran by people who are so old and hopelessly out of touch they probably don't even know what UA-cam is.

It's the principle of protecting intellectual property. Regardless of who holds the rights, why should this guy be allowed to consider copyrights to be merely an obstacle to be dodged? I suspect if he created something original, which others wished to manipulate, he'd have a much different opinion.

@@rebelpunx88 "In 2017, Paul McCartney filed a federal lawsuit in New York seeking a declaratory judgment to begin reclaiming his copyright interests in his Beatles’ songs, which stem from Love Me Do (1962) to The Long and Winding Road (1970). It is a clever move by McCartney and his legal team to use an obscure part of the Federal Copyright Act of 1976 to get back the rights to the music.
Shortly thereafter McCartney filed his claim in the Southern District of New York, Sony/ATV quickly decided to settle in June 2017. It did not seem like they wanted to have a nasty legal battle go on for years. “The parties have resolved this matter by entering into a confidential settlement agreement and jointly request that the Court enter the enclosed proposed order dismissing the above-referenced action without prejudice,” said a letter from McCartney’s attorney. ***One additional note about Lennon’s side of the issue: A provision of that law states that if the songwriter were to die within the first 28-year period, the writer’s heirs would be eligible to recapture that publishing share at the end of that first period, which in the Beatles’ case would be 1990. Lennon died in 1980, and sources told Billboard in 2009 that Sony cut a deal with his wife Yoko Ono prior to the expiration of that period to retain ownership of Lennon’s share for the duration of the copyright period, which covers the 70 years after the owner’s death; in this case, 2050.

Ian plays (yes, PLAYS, present tense) for Deep Purple. He was there when the band started inh 1967 and still is. Bev played for Michael Schenker Group, and toured with Black Sabbath on the Born Again tour when Bill Ward's health made him unable to do the tour, among others. It was your genuine and thoughtful reactions that got me to subscribe in the first place, not just that it was music reactions. That being said, I'm not into sports AT ALL so I don't really click on your basketball vids and whatnot because it's just not a subject I'm interested in, no matter who's reacting to it. I'm always rooting for you though, James, and I can't wait to see how you continue to evolve the channel. I've stayed subscribed since early days and continually check in to see what you're up to that does coincide with my interests. Plus, I'm def looking forward to your movie reaction collab with RSR (assuming that announcement earlier wasn't your channel getting hacked or something). Y'all are gonna kill it!
As far as music reactions: It might be easier to argue Fair Use if you can find a unique angle that adds value to the video beyond just reacting to it. Every reactor has to deal with copyright issues, strikes, and blocks, but vocal coaches, e.g., seem to get away with it more often because they're actually analyzing the vocal technique, using the music as a way of teaching something about singing, and pausing a lot to do so (so it can't be argued that people are going to their channels just to listen to music without giving the artist a click). Not sure what talents you have or what unique value-add you could bring to a music reaction but maybe that's something to think about. The more the copyright holders crack down, the more YT reactors are going to have to evolve to justify what they're doing. You might as well get out ahead of the pack.
If you can't go back to music reactions, though, no worries. I look forward to whatever you do (other than the sports stuff, lol, sorry) and will continue to be here supporting you with my clicks, likes, subscription, bell, and whatever else helps keep building your own personal Rome.

Every reactor seems to have their own theories on how to get music reactions to work, but it's all based on trial, error and luck cuz they still make conflicting decisions on a daily basis. The one I've seen many mention that your format went against was trying to let as much of the song play through and then giving your analysis afterwards. Many seem to swear by needing to pause the song or add a silent placeholder in to break up the song every 45-60 seconds. Again, it's all heresy. I don't blame you for wanting to switch up content.

Some reactors do lyric videos or they pause in the middle of the song and talk about it and then continue on. It can be a little annoying, but that could help you with your copyright issues you've been getting

Sorry to hear you've fallen victim to the blocking police.
I have noticed several ways reactors have tried to cope with blocking, maybe can help?
The ghost imaging as already suggested - I find that distracting myself and usually go hit another channel. But it does seem effective against the blocking.
Also have seen - a full screen official copywrite statement at the very beginning of the reaction shown for bout 10 seconds. 👍🏻
Many reactors use much smaller windows for the video, sometimes too tiny.
I've also seen some chopped videos (top quarter of screen missing, or video zoomed in).
And of course, frequent pausing. I'm not a big fan of this. I understand it's necessary, but I'd rather a quick remark during the song and at a volumn that doesn't blow my eardrums - I always listen to my music at high volume, I was a concert fanatic growing up (228 concerts attended 🤙🏻) I love to feel music - my neighbors Hate me!🤣
It does seem that once you get blocked, it tends to happen again, very quickly. Several of the reactors I follow have had to deal with the same situation you described. All have managed to get past it using a bit of creativity I think 😁
Maybe once a channel has a video blocked, that channel is placed on a short term 'watch list' to make it more visible to the recording companies/artists auditors? It doesn't seem to last a long time though if you're careful.
I totally feel your frustration, it doesn't seem to make sense that the videos or songs are blocked or flat out not available. I can't listen on UA-cam Music to 1 of my fav artists and only a limited catalog of several others. Very frustrating when songs disappear off my playlists too.🤬
Artists that are blocking should follow Queen's example, they new upload videos very frequently - I know they have blocked some though too 😒 Look at how many people have discovered Queen and Freddie. It's astounding! Sure the movie helped some. To me, some of the most entertaining reactions are first-time listeners to Bohemian Rhapsody. I love watching people's expressions, very, very cool! I wasn't a huge fan of Queen in '70's-'80's, liked some of their stuff, but now I'm crazy about a few of their videos & songs ("Somebody to Love" live Montreal, the Live Aid performance - Wow!!🤩💕) I get the chills every time I watch those! And I never get tired of hearing"Don't Stop Me Now" - perks me right up when I feel blue!! 😁
I hope it gets better for you soon - wishing you luck.
I love watching your rock reactions! 😍💕

Use Live versions of the songs,
Or watch the video but distort the image for us, so you can still watch the video that we want you to see, but we will see it blurry.
Don't take chances on Beatles, Led Zepplin, or the Eagles. They just don't understand that you watching their video actually introduces people to songs they won't hear otherwise.

Try some ghost/haunted captured on camera reactions. They do well for others & there’s tons of that kind of footage available without worrying about CW infringement.

I react to music and for sure you never know when the 'strike' will come knocking at the door months after you posted. My other channel is of my paranormal investigations so at least is free of copyright.
I've watched many of your videos and love the way you talk, break stuff down and analyse what you've watched or listened too. I think you'd be great talking about weird and mysterious phenomena or incidences in the world because you are intelligent and have a really good voice for it. But whatever you decide will be great I'm sure.

gpreactions - What's your take on Ghost Adventures? Can you post short clips from the show? I find a few bits of their collected evidence interesting. Much is drama and have heard accusations of fakery. I do love all the crazy tech they use.
I'm an open minded skeptic who had an experience in the MT state prison while sightseeing.
Will check out ur channel. ✌🏻

@@foxchasejrt1 I guess, similar to reacting to movies, you'd have to break their show down with editing and commentary which would be a longer process in editing but less likely to incur copyright, and even less so if you just pick clips and react to them or talk about the equipment they use.

Also Marcus Veltri is another amazing beatboxing pianist, with 4 million views, who can play ANY (yes ANY) song someone request. He loves reactors also, along with Harry Mack, who I mentioned in my previous comment. They did a collab together in "Harry Macks Omegle Bars #32" which is up for collab of the year! It's Fire!! Reacting to these guys is an excellent way to grow your channel.

I have copyrights, but feel they should only last as long as a patent would (20 years), then the work goes into the public domain. The way it is now, it goes on almost forever way beyond the artist's lifetime.

Channel likes basketball vids... expand that idea to more sports, like hockey, I'm Canadian of course that's my go to but there are lots of video's to see from fan compilations, individual player highlights to blooper gag reel on ice incidents. i can send links and more suggestions for idea's on where to start, regardless on how well you know the sport. and i will say the hockey community by in large is welcoming and copy strike friendly. As for un-subbing, not a chance spread positivity always.

Well I assume these artists or groups have not heard that any publicity is good publicity. Seems a good way to become extinct to me.
You could react to older music, bring back some great music no longer in the limelight. You know, if they’re not here, won’t be deleted by artist.

I have forced myself to listen to them for many Sundays on KLOS and still felt like I was listening to easy listening Co-op granola radio. Just my opinion, if you love the Beatles…that’s great. I don’t and never will.
