I’ve got more than 200 omnis and as long as they keep releasing omnibus titles I’m interested in, I’m still buying, even though I’ve ground my statue buying to almost a halt. Aside from the differences with prices and resellability, books are more fun to collect since you get active enjoyment out of reading them whereas statues just sit there and look pretty.

I don’t know anything about statue collecting so can’t really say if that is dying or not. But Omnibus collecting I feel is going strong to be honest with so much stuff either getting reprinted or brand new stuff never been collected in the format getting released I wouldn’t say Omni collecting is dying or dead I say it’s more alive than ever to be honest.

I would say omnibus 's are going good because you get older X men or spiderman in a book 📖 that would costs $1000's if you where to buy each book individually.

Theres still a ton of stuff that could be collected in Omnis, especially classic DC stuff. I feel like this year and next year Marvel is doing Omnis of too much modern stuff that were either flops when they came out, or are easily available as trades and hardcovers. I'm still into it, but i have been buying less and reselling more in the last year. I hope the Omni hobby doesn't die, that's pretty much the only comics i buy these days and usually stuff from the 60s-90s.

I don't think so. It is only natural to wait for the whole run to be completed to get an omnibus thus the gap between purchasing is big. I always prefer omnibus and tpb over individual issues. I don't buy comics to resell, I buy them to read them, and I always prefer completed volumes and have a peace of mind not to run around finding issues that i missed

I started my omni collection at the start of the pandemic. Since space is limited, I had the “what would I bring on a desert island” approach to make sure that I got what I really wanted. So I have to make sure it’s something I’ll go open up more than once. For the most part, I built up a collection with a good mix of characters and eras and actually don’t foresee buying any more in the near future.

I started around that covid era myself in collecting omnibuses. Just fell in love with the consistent designs, formats and able to read these lovable stories on my terms. Life has been very hectic lately. But I have calmed down on the buying due to pretty much having what I wanted out of my collection so my wallet thanks me. I just finished reading all of the TMNT IDW collection (1-13) and about halfway through UXM vol. 1. DC really needs to step their game up with consistency of their omnis and Superman omnis.

(Oh thanks for the mention! I would definitely pick one up in a heartbeat! Its just my wallet that's not ready...)
I think it's just slowing down well especially last few years. As a dedicated trade paperback reader, I'm more realistically likely to get an always readable omni especially when there's a great sale! And when there's a major multi-title historic event like OG Age of Apocalypse that's sequential and Infinity Gauntlet epic. I've also realized in a nicebreaction video to get me to easily pick up a series without much ado, have a reading magazine style display shelf so you van enjoy single covers esp for limited series, and tucked in reasonable standard vinyl covered white backboarded singles!

I think that the pandemic buying craze has tampered down and everyone who jumped into the hobby, myself included, have realized that now we just want what we know we will read or in my case re-read. FOMO def drove the market for awhile, and now people are being more conscious about that they buy. Plus times are rough and money can be tight right now so so that is def hindering the market too. But I don’t think it’s dying, just balancing off from the pandemic highs.

I think it's best to just get the one's you are interested in reading. Collecting everything just seems like a waste. The ones you are generally the most excited about getting to read and own are the best and you can read them over and over. That being said the only omnibus I really buy are the Uncanny X-men Volumes and Wolverine. I'll get the new volumes of both and have reading through them very slowly in between weekly new comics and manga. I'll get an occasional extra omnibus if it's for an absolute steal and also something I like. I picked up a New Avengers Omnibus from an indoor market for 40 bucks, stuff like that. I'm hoping they reprint the Jim Lee Claremont X-men 1 Omnibus. That's one I missed out on but I have a rule never to pay over market for anything.

And I’ll be searching for good prices 60% off if I buy more then that.
The reason many are sold sealed is because it has max value. Usually you can get 25-50 bucks more when you sell the book if it’s sealed.

I’ve gotten most of the omnis I want, but I still think it’s the most economical way to read these older stories. So, I think the omni market will stay steady.

I stopped collecting omnis a few months ago because of rising costs. I even sold almost half of my books to raise some funds for a rainy day. I still read via digital platforms (marvel u) and still buy books, most of which are Image ohcs. For me image books are still affordable and have superior build and page quality. And I find the stories from Image to be more entertaining and have re-read them more.

After I left statues and floppies I started selling off my keys and having the bigger books I've always wanted along with omnibuses. I dont think it's dying as to me, it's an investment in my retirement years. The stuff I dont read now or find interest in I can potentially find that interest in later years. If anything Id think its growing as more people find that floppies aren't what they used to be, and they can just get the collected editions later. A lot of reprints on books that were whales before peaked my interest more and Ive bought more simply because something was reprinted that I didnt have. Anyway cheers everyone!

I only started buying omnibus books like two-and-a-half years ago. Yep, I'm still buying them and get excited for new releases.
Reading them? Lol, it took me _A WHILE_ to get through the Amazing Spider-Man volumes 1-5. Spider-Man is my favorite comic book character but reading that stuff from the '60s and '70s just took so long for me for some reason.
Whereas I can blast through like All New Wolverine, Spider-Verse/Spider-Geddon or Spider-Gwen in an afternoon or two.
Same with "nostalgia reads" stuff from back when I actually bought floppies, like the Spider-Man 2099 omni.
I say "nostalgia" even though I had never read a single S-Man 2099 comic, just stuff from that rime period hit for me and I got through it in a few days.

I still buy Omnibus but I always been selective.
Will be interesting if Titan's Savage Sword of Conan volumes match up well with Marvels.
I preordered Micronauts and ROM. I pick up Daredevil, Defenders, the Formerly Known as Justice League stuff, and Moon Knight as they come out.

I only got into this hobby some months ago and I already have 12 omnis. There’s so much more that’s been announced so far (both new and reprinted) that I want so my collection is going to increase considerably next year. It doesn’t feel like it’s dying, at least to me

Yep Marvel's Imak omni's have such thin pages that most of the art ends up ruined imo because you can end up seeing art from the opposite side of the page very clearly even when you're not reading near a direct light.

I got into collecting comics that you can sell and make a profit several years ago. I started to focus on the collection part and became hard to sell. When it comes to omnis I never had that feeling. When I couldn’t find the number one of a certain comic I would always settle more for an omni. For example invincible, trying to find individual copies would be hard; you can easily find the omni. Easier to get less of a treasure it becomes. Unless you have a back story that makes it special.

You got me into this hobby in June of 2021 and I haven't looked back since. The only thing thats changed is that I'm not constantly buying ones I want, Instead it's all preordering and waiting. Im currently sitting at 116 marvel omnis and 39 DC omnis. I love this hobby and since the MCU has been booty cheeks the past couple years, this is the only good way to consume marvel content.

Omnibus markets are alive and well, with even Indies offering in the format more frequently (ie Astro City, Hellboy, and in complete releases like Moonshine). People who have libraries actually read+love the books (not just *previously* reading the story and have a copy), whereas speculative collectors just have.........nothing but potential profit (diminishing as reprints are becoming more common). That's why personal building libraries is important, as the books are curated to be there, rather than having something for the sake of it.
There are much easier ways to make money, outside this hobby, so I tend to love my library and read it all within a 2-year period.

I had NO idea that Omnis got valuable. I honestly thought that values were reserved for floppies. I returned to comic collecting about 3yrs ago and so much has changed since 1992 it was a little overwhelming. It just so happens that I purchased 2 Omnis, SiKtC because I can’t purchase the first 12 floppies right now and Bitter Root. I suspect that Bitter Root may go up in value but not SiKtC. There were quite a few variants for that one.

I just started collecting omnibus 3 weeks ago. I'm absolutely loving my collection so far. Invincible is truly amazing, and I'm also enjoying injustice gods among us very much! I'm thinking about getting Green Lantern/Blackest Night and the Crisis events next. I just ordered the Flashpoint and the new 52 Justice League vol 1 and 2. Can't wait to start collecting other events, let me know if you guys know any other great events.

Omnis can be expensive but as I said, look for deals and be patient. And only buy stuff you like/plan to read. I have alot of Hellboy, Batman and DC black label books but I enjoy the stories and the characters.
The movies may be mid but the magic is still there if you look for it

I've read every TMNT IDW collection & both Compendiums, 13 of 39 Judge Dredd Case Files, and every Alien & Predator omni so far. However, I also bought every Conan omni including the main series, Savage Sword, the one DH one, and King Conan and haven't read any of them so far. That's nearly 2 full shelves worth of Conan but I know when I delve in I'm gonna go hard.

    Yes, i still buy omnis.
Allthough i wouldn't say i'm a collector of them. I only buy those i really want, and only 2-3 a year.
But channels like this and NearMint has made buy more larger hard cover collections than paperbacks.
