Great 👍🏽 video. Thanks for the information. I got some DC but definitely want to start my DC omnibus collection. Start ordering these. Now that I’m caught up on Berserk. You set me off track when I seen your Berserk videos. Lol
The thing I love about these golden age, silver age, bronze age. The art looks so classic, done with pencil and real color, not done digitally. I love old school art and color.
Thanks for this review...so hard to figure out what to buy to start a nice DC collection...indeed golden age books will be among my first omnibus with the Neal Adams one ( which i'm a great fan of ).Man your collection is just mesmerizing...
The Neal Adams one made me cry. I sat on that waiting list for 2 years and when it released I was mortified at the horrible digital re-coloring. I knew they had done that with the smaller hardcover volumes, but something made me hope the omnibus would be "pure." And wow, it wasn't. Re-coloring Neal Adams, even if Neal does it himself, should be illegal. It's like George Lucas screwing with the better original versions of Star Wars...
I'm praying that when we get to Adams in the Bronze Age Batman omnis (if we ever get that far!) they use the original art (like they have done in the Brave & the Bold omnis)
Jordy If you’ve grown up with more modern comics, it can be very difficult to read Golden Age, even Silver Age comics. They were totally different then. Those comics weren’t made with collective or continuity-based storytelling in mind, they were designed to be cheap pamphlets that could be read and then tossed away. They wanted to make sure that it was worth it, so there was tons of text, and multiple stories told within each issue. It’s entirely different from what we had starting from the 70s, especially from the 90s onward. All I’ll say is that I’m writing my MA thesis on Dick Grayson (so of course Batman is heavily involved) and I have tried to look at Golden/Silver Age books for it, and it’s awful. I just can’t do it. I respect them, and I respect what they did, but I don’t like them at all.
@@SSJFutureGohan62093 I just got into buying comics this year (I'm 25 rn) and started buying some golden and silver age facsimile comics, and just my opinion I like comics to have a good amount of text so they can last me more while I read them. Wait...was that Batman Odyssey in that book or what I like to call it Batman on some really rough drugs.I was going to call it Batman on crack or something.?!😝😂🤣🤔
I have a question. The Neal Adams 3 part tps I bought has the covers in between issues chronologically. Is it the same in the omnibus or is there a section for covers ?
At 3:00 you say "Detective 27" instead of "Detective Comics 27" and BAM I had a revelation. There's a song by G//Z/R called "Detective 27". I knew the song was about a guy obsessed with Batman, but I never really understood why the number "27" was part of the song. *The more you know...* I haven't thought about that song in a long time.
I've recently purchased the six Golden Age Omnibus's released so far, and I love them. I'll never get the original issues they're reprinting, so they're great for collecting them, and they're reproduced so well, with great coloring. So looking forward to the Seventh volume this June, I think it is.
My favs were Batman 348-451 growing up. Have they released omnibus or graphic novel collections of those yet? I hate the really long Forewords they have at the start of omnibuses for some reason my OCD makes it so I have to read them, and some are like 5 pages lol. While reading Frank Miller's Daredevil Omni I had to read the 5 paragraph blurb at the start of each issue, even though it never changes. I think it is because I don't want to miss anything.
