I replaced my auxiliary battery today with a size 10 and 13, wasn’t hard at all just don’t play around with that electrical stuff. Must be a AMG or the battery will fry in no time. The start/stop still is tripping so I just turn it off when I drive. This is the first day in a week I was able to start it without jumping the battery. Thanks again my hero!
Here’s an update: I Haven’t had any problems starting my Jeep; only annoying thing is the start/stop won’t work, I don’t care about it so I just turn it off when I drive
I have the same issue. I have Jeep Trailhawk and wouldn’t crank for work one morning. I had to buy a Noco GB40 to jump auxiliary. I am going to auto zone in the morning to have this pain in the but removed. Thanks so much for this video, keep at it bud!
This was exactly the same issue I was having in my Compass. So glad that your video came out right around when I was experiencing this problem. I thought my 1 year old battery had somehow gone bad early and so I got it replaced under the warranty but it still died if I didn't drive it for 3 days. I started tracking the voltage and realized something must be drawing extra power from the main battery. Ended up having to jump my car about 5 times before I finally got the aux battery replaced. So far so good.
That's not how electricity flows, I was always told it flows downhill, so you have to make sure your wires are at an angle! Friend of mine bought a 2019 of this Jeep and has the same issue, wanted me to help him replace the batteries. I just found this video and didn't know the AUX battery could be pulling off the main battery to drain it (mainly because I didn't know they put AUX batteries in for the interior stuff). Good to know, I know next to nothing about these start-stop systems. I told him I would pull both batteries, charge them out of the vehicle and then test them with a battery tester to see if they're good, hopefully he won't have to replace both. Maybe do an alternator test too just to ensure it's charging properly.
Currently sitting in my 2018 Jeep Compass that decided that it didn’t want to start this morning. Now I have to go change my auxiliary battery bc the car starts when the regular battery is charged. At least I know the it’s the second artery for sure.
sporadically a message appears on the dashboard display about "High Coolant Temperature" and immediately sends the vehicle to shut down and after a couple of seconds the error disappears and the temperature returns to normal. I must clarify that at no time does the vehicle overheat.
Hey thanks for the amazing and helpful video. Is there anyways to completely remove the aux battery and just use regular battery and don’t use the save gas function ?
Thank you. I haven’t seen anything that allows you to get rid of the other battery. With enough ingenuity anything can be done, but it probably isn’t worth it. They do sell start stop disablers though.
How do I replace those little studs that come off the aux battery?? Every single video shows how to replace the battery but every video either skips how to replace those studs or fasts forwards through it. I heard you say “battery studs E6”? I think? What tool is being used to remove those studs?

I have a 2017 Compass and the start/ stop has been a problem sinceI got the car but at year 3 it became a nightmare. Dealer of no help. I reached the point that I would stall at every stop sign and intersection. I finely turn off the start/ stop the last year. and all was fine. I have never got a warning message. on my dash. A week ago the battery is dead at my mountain house. Finely after getting someone with a Bronco we were able to jump the Aux battery after letting the Bronco run for 40 minutes. . My question is my main battery is still the original battery. The car has run fine for a week and made a 10 hour drive fine. Do I change out both batteries? I don't trust the dealer and I have a good repair shop I think can do the work. Can you suggest a portable battery charger that will start the Aux. battery when in a situation like being stranded on a mountain and no roadside assistance anywhere near you?
It’s not going to hurt anything to change them both. As far as portable battery chargers: I carry a NOCO GB70 with me at all times. It’s a bit pricey, but will jump start pretty much anything.
My dash is reading my auxiliary battery is in a protection mode, it’s been replaced 2 years ago, my main battery was drained and had to be boost off. Should I change both batteries or the main?
Can my auxiliary battery drain a new main battery I replaced my main battery a few days ago but not the auxiliary they both were the original ones when I got the car it’s a 2020 and I got it about 2 years ago I did once have to take it to the dealership for them to recharge it. When I replaced the main battery it started and everything came back on I didn’t drive one day and when I went out yesterday after it hadn’t been driven it was dead all the lights and nothing would come on I’m hoping I just have to change that battery and it’s nothing worse
Dude that's hilarious using inagodadavida as a Time counter just listen to the song four times album version. Maybe only needs threeAnd a half times ! The longest side I remember on an album would have been 18 and a half minutes I think was the most they could get out of it, and inagodadavida had to be between 15 and 18m. Think I have that correct. I have the album I mean the original vinyl.
So Usefull! Thank God i found this video does the aux battery also make jeep malfunction like sending codes service engine and other codes like U1428 also noticed that the auto off light would come out causing it not to work...
Literally blew me away. Just had this happen to me and all the service shops wouldn't help me and I just recovered from the flu and then bam my battery dies. I got a jump then the camera won't turn off. Then today it died this morning won't turn on or take a jump. But no one I said no one knew there was an axillary battery . And thar battery is at least 5yrs old today and jas never been replaced. Gonna try this Wednesday 100% sure this is it. 😅 wish me luck.
Yo did it work?? My car has been dead for 1 month after 5 battery replacements in 2 weeks. Im thinking this is the problem and I’m very interested in knowing if this fixed your car!? Im thinking this will fix mine
@iamriddim9143 It needs 2 batteries. My main still reads low but no issues whats so ever. Even my start/ stop started working again. I plan on replacing the main battery at my next oil change
I wish I could get a newer car with barebones simple tech in it with one battery. But nope all newer vehicles are made with 2 crappy batterys. My aux battery lasted till 95k km. The primary all around vehicle warranty is 60k km expiry. I only have a drive train warranty left and that is going to expire as well soon. From what I heard from napa that it is $500+ for a new aux battery alone. Have to change both at the same time and the bigger battery is $250+ so it is $750+ not including taxes. I might just invest in something a bit older now and give up on crappy new vehicles.
All these vehicles are peace of garbage. They make it have a battery drain after a few years. Then they make its so that the modules will go bad as a result of jump starting the vehicle. I just worked on one it’s not the auxiliary battery causing the parasitic drain. I gave it back to the customer. I told him it’s gonna cost 150 dollars an hours to diagnose it, and 800 dollars just to start. I meant to run them away. I work with hybrid and electric vehicles I ain’t got time for regular car with cheap customers
Just eliminate auxiliary battery if you’re not using the start stop function. Connect pos to pos and neg to neg battery terminal. Not rocket science. Lol
My auxillary batter is under my fuse box , can't believe those idiots at jeep would make it do difficult to remove the auxiliary battery on the 2019 trailhawk.

Thank you so much man! I’ve been going through hell with my compass! I finally got my auxiliary battery and my car works perfectly now
Thanks, I just sent this to my buddy who is having issues with their compass
I swear these Compass aux batteries are scheduled to die right at 60K miles. Every one I deal with has 60-65K on it.
died at 39k yesterday here but it is a 2018
@@CSUnited14I got a 2018 and mine died at 80k miles just the other day and my transmission is slipping now :(
I mean that's a good four to five years on average, doesn't really sound excessive to me.

Passive entry is draining the aux battery. Everyone should turn it off especially if you are having battery problems.
How do you do tiis

Place i took mine said aux battery tested fine, but this keeps happening and I’ve gotten 2 new batteries
Hi, have 2018 compass. Says stop safely vehicle will shutdown and battery light on
Since the car is five years old, would it be wise just to change the main battery as well?
If it’s original, then yes. This car just had the main battery replaced.
So could you just leave the aux battery ground disco9nnected and leave start stop disabled/
Great video. I’m an emergency situation, u would jump start the car by connecting to the main larger battery? Thank you
I have a question is it required to keep the battery insulated blanket on the main battery of a 2018 Jeep compass?
After changing the auxiliary battery, do you have to reset?
You are a God send!!!
My dash is reading my auxiliary battery is in a protection mode, it’s been replaced 2 years ago, my main battery was drained and had to be boost off. Should I change both batteries or the main?

Both batteries have been replaced. Issue remains. Any idea?
So if my car got a bad auxiliary battery is going to drain my main battery?
Will this stop the truck from starting up even if attempted to jump it ?
gotta jump off the aux battery i couldnt get a crank from main so put jumpers on aux battery started right up
