Why is everyone so down on Hank? If Hank just let Bobby run around goofing off the show would lose much of its humor. The relationship between Bobby and Hank is probably more real than most sitcoms and part of why KOTH is great. Being a father is a learning curve, too. I feel like a lot of people forget about this aspect. Don't forget there is a lot of ridiculous Bobby that DOES need a shake. Tartuffe the Spry Wonder Dog? Hank saved him there. Many other times, too. Hank is a good father, Bobby is a good son. Families are just complicated and KOTH nails the humor that comes out of thtem.
It’s just annoying that this plot aspect is done repeatedly for multiple seasons on the show with no endpoint of resolution. Since if you want to see this aspect done right, just watch How to Train Your Dragon.
@johnnyd3158 HTTYD is just the stereotype of that "no dad, thats YOUR dream" is not how it works, KOTH shows that people are stuck in their ways and take a while to become more comfortable with their son/father to find common ground
@@swag31556 What you described for KOTH is the same for HTTYD, as Hiccup was someone who was considered an outcast for being such a walking disaster within his home village of Berk, while trying to prove his self-worth as a viking through his own constructive ingenuity to make up for his short and thin physique. As just as with Hank for Bobby, Stoic had trouble getting out of his own worldview in understanding Hiccup, as Stoic had mentioned in the film about how he went to take Hiccup fishing when Hiccup was young in which Hiccup instead preferred to look for trolls. But by the time of the film's climax, Stoic realized that it was Hiccup's own compassion and ingenuity that made him a true viking in his own way, as it was especially the latter that resulted in the long war between the vikings of Berk and the dragons to finally end. The main problem with KOTH was that it was a Fox animated show, in which therefore, it did not permit the characters to actually age and develop. As the show went on for 13 seasons where each episode was exactly the same as the one that followed for 200+ episodes on repetition. As opposed to HTTYD, as that film was able to tell its story in about one hour and thirty minutes, while presenting significant character growth and development to all the characters by the end of the film, especially with the relationship between Hiccup and Stoic.
