I really enjoy the history you show.Do you clean your IHP with boiling provide? I just want to see the dates and I don't know what to do with silver coins I find , please help me. I look forward to your next video. Thank you please help.
Silver coins generally do not need much cleaning. A simple rinse under water to get the dirt off is usually enough. I do have a certain way of cleaning the IHP's and early wheaties. Here is what I do for them. I use a small glass bowl and fill it with hydrogen peroxide. I then put it in the microwave until it is boiling. (40 seconds or so) Then I take the IHP and put it in. Whichever side you want to work on should be the side that is facing up. Give it about 10 seconds at a time and then remove it. Never leave them in it too long. I use a small fork and just push it up the side of the bowl until I can get my fingers on it. Be careful, the coin is going to be hot for a few seconds. I then rub it vigorously with my thumb and a lot of times that is usually sufficient. If it has a lot of crust, I use the Andre Pencil set to scrape at the crust gently. You may have to repeat this a few times until you have it where you want it. Get the peroxide boiling each time. I do about 10 seconds each time. I also use the steel wool pencil that comes with the Andre Pencil Set a lot to get them perfect. Once I have the penny where I want it, I take a bit of paraffin wax and rub it into the coin to give it a deep luster. (Here's the disclaimer LOL) With all that said, do not clean any coin that has substantial numismatic value. Hope this helps. ATB Greg
That's a great guess, Dave. I have been looking but just have not been able to find a match to it. They are similar but the train track terminals are smaller than this one. Best idea I have heard so far though! Appreciate the help, Dave! Take care and ATB Greg
