Think I'll be checking my armrest in my 2016 STI tonight, but I'm wondering now if I had the same issue with my old 2003 WRX as I did find a random screw sitting in the bottom when I was clearing the car out - I had no idea where it had come from, but I left it there for the next owner.
This did happen to me except we bought the car used and it came apart the first time we tried to open it. There are no screws but I can see where there should be. Thanks for posting this. I thought we did something wrong.
This just happen to me today, I didn’t even bother looking inside for screws but it’s 12:19am and now it’s bugging me and I’m gonna have to go look but I appreciate the info.
i honestly feel like trading in my 15 Fiesta ST for subaru STI in dark grey, but at the same time i wana wait and see if subaru comes out with a new motor for the STI, dont get me wrong my Fiesta ST is still a fun car but iv'e always wanted an STI since i was younger
You'll likely sees new motor next year, 2019 at the absolute latest. They worked on the chassis with the 2015+ models, it's so good it can now handle more power from a new engine. Good engineering decision by Subaru.
Sound about right. This things get so wobbly. Some lock tight should fix it up!
Argh.
I only have 2 of them. Any idea where to get replacements? I've checked everywhere
The screws you need are 4 mm x 0.7 mm pitch x 12 mm length. Can get them them any hardware store :).
I would actually recommend M4-.7 x 16
The longer screw helps prevent this from happening again
Thanks for the heads up! Must be that rumble rattling them out...
😂😂😂

It's likely! 😁

Have you ever heard about lock tight?
Hey the latch fell out do you know how to put it back in or have a video how
Use lock tight or get longer screws
Loctite is next if this happens a second time.
I think the reason they don't use longer screws is so you don't have a screw in your arm.
I'll try retight them or take them off and add locktight
Yeah, loctite would be the next thing if it happens a second time.

You are the best! I had the same exact problem and you totally fixed it! Even knew where the screws were. Thanks so much. You made my day!
Had to fix mine as well. But not because it fell off, but because it wouldn't stay closed. Latch problem
+Seth A I hope that doesn't happen to me!
thanks man! awesome vid. I thought maybe one of my friends had broken it grabbed a bag out of the back seat or something and didn't tell me... lol
Exact same thing happened to my friends 2012 Subaru Impreza
This seems to be a common issue.
Man dude this video made my life a whole lot easier lol I thought it was clips that held it I was like wheewwww saved me
ur sti is still stock till now??
Just a Nameless axleback and some cosmetic stuff.
Thanks!!! It happened to me when I was driving and it came off and I looked in and found the screws :)

I put a little dab of super glue on the screw and screw them back in so they don't rattle back out
Loctite is my friend, if I need it. :)
Loctite!
This happened to my car. haha
