I’ve always liked India and Indians for the most part…I like their values and their desire for something resembling a democratically inspired system etc. they had a tough history, like the USA, where they were simultaneously helped massively by England and hurt considerably by them, but have gained independence nonetheless.
If China for example went to war I always thought I’d be happy for the USA to intervene to help India, specially if China starts it over their insane territorial disputes with every nation in the World.
Having said that…with the way their media is constantly trashing the USA and cozying up to China and Russia…I’m beginning to think I made an erroneous judgement and they hate us too.

When the Russian army collapses in Ukraine China will take the opportunity to take back the lands occupied by Russia then take a gamble on clearing India out of the disputed lands to see if the West will support India, something that becomes less likely every day

The lines of supply are too long. The US Navy could hold on for a short time, then get hurt very badly. I wouldn't want to be on a US aircraft carrier.
The carriers will be far away.
If the US were the ones trying to invade, you might be right. But mainland China is the one that wants to mount an amphibious assault, which is the most difficult type of operation in all warfare. It's nearly impossible without complete supremacy on and under the sea and in the air. The US Navy won't have to control the straits or supply an army in Taiwan, it just has to make it too difficult for mainland China to supply its army in Taiwan. The math there is overwhelmingly against the PRC. They don't just have to win, they have to completely annihilate the US Navy, and that's never going to happen. One or two USN submarines surviving in the straits or one USN carrier group operating 200 miles _east_ of Taiwan will be sufficient to make an invasion impossible.

On October 2, 2021, a US submarine hit a seamount (actually it was hit by Chinese underseas drones) while cruising at high speed in the northern part of the South China Sea. The USS Connecticut (SSN-22) was travelling at 24 knots when it was involved in the serious accident.
