I'm very pleased and impressed with the performance, and even more I applaud the NBS for encouraging young musicians to perform in the Baroque style. I've never heard of anything like this in my country, and I find it discouraging. But with this performance, I am encouraged.
I understand well. As an oboist, I learned a different instrument altogether when I played on a Baroque oboe and recorder... different embouchure, different spacing of holes, and different mind-set, and it made the approach to the music entirely new. This young woman performed admirably. Well done.
I would never have guessed she was so young or anything other than a seasoned performer. Certainly would not have guessed she wasn't extensively trained on a period instrument. Very, very good performance, and I look forward to seeing what she will do in the future.
Brava Iris! Very nice performance, indeed. Many thinks to the NBS for nurturing the future living musical treasures we humans should be proud of, wherever we are.
One thing I love about gut strings is their richness, something missing in steel strings. That’s why us classical guitarists resist changing to strings, despite some advantages.
@@groovychild1 By itself it sounds OK I suppose, but when played as the 2nd part of the sonata BWV-1001, it should be allegro as indicated in the manuscript. I like it Allegro myself.

There is a problem here - I’m able to like this video only once! Great performance!
I studied this 50+ years ago and this is so sweet and musical as well as technically wonderful. Congrats to the musician.
The best voice leading I've ever heard in the Bach unaccompanied works and a wonderful performance.
In the introduction-video Iris Kengen say she wants to be a baroque violinist - I think she'll make it :)
If this is what she’s capable of at 18, I can not fathom what she’ll bring to her performances in 20 years or so. Incredible.
very refined, for a 18 y old.. Hope to hear more from her.. on baroque violin!!
This is actually a really good interpretation of a difficult piece. Kudos to your playing!
Iris you ARE a baroque violinist! 🙏

What about other kinds of metal or synthetic? Silver, tungsten, nylon, etc?
So transparent! Absolutely great!!!
Muchas gracias por darme la oportunidad de escuchar esta belleza de musica. Muchas gracias.
Wonderful!

Robert Carter .... I’m so early............music! 😃
Braviii!!
👏👏👏👏👏
Impressive! Btw i wonder where is the place she playing :)
Lichtfabriek, Haarlem, the Netherlands. :)
Played like a Sarabande but I like it.
Bach puts a sarabande rhythms in dance movements that aren’t outright sarabandes-take a look at the opening of the D minor chaconne :)
