Been looking for something like this. Needed something for control and for building stamina. I have issues with consistency. Most times I can nail a long double bass run like Ride the lightening and then have days where my legs get fatigued and cant do it. Going to try this , patterns sound way cool.

Awesome tutorial! Worth adding though since I got so frustrated when I got stuck at around 140 bpm: To play faster you will need to learn a technique like ankle motion where the feet do more of the work. To play fast like 160bpm and more with all legs is really hard.

I feel like my biggest issue has been that I bought a used double bass pedal that had been adjusted all weird and pretty much my bass struggle is trying to get the spring tension even on both feet but I do most of this minus the fast bursts but I also do something similar on guitar with the bursts of 16th note triplets

Rly? Because your spring tension looks factory set lower than my iron cobra came. Mine came with a tiny bit of the the threaded rod sticking out the bottom nut adjuster. Yours looks lower tension like you have no threaded rod sticking out of the bottom plastic nut adjuster.

    • @larrytate1657

I do have the rolling glide, if you have the power glide maybe they set the springs at a lower tension on the power glide. Reguardless can you tell me where your spring is set at about? Def looks on the loose side right?

So I know I probably won’t get a reply but this is an excellent exercise, I want to mention that this technique doesn’t exactly work with me. I play with Roland t-2 triggers and resting the beater on the head will trigger so you are getting more beats than you want. Just pointing that out there.

Amazing lesson with real world applications... humans are bipedal, drummers are quad-pedal. Drummer uses all 4 limbs independent of each other including different tempos. No other instrument requires so much coordination.
