    To anyone who's just starting out with double bass, understand that it's pretty much a completely separate component of drumming that's going to take months; just to get comfortable. Don't get discouraged just keep going!

      Thanks for that man! It really drives me nuts that it often doesn't work! And sometimes it's not easy to stay motivated. One day it works out well, the other day it drives me crazy.

      yes and its very important that when you train each foot seperatly, you need to build some core muscles to keep your balance while playing with both feer at the same time.

    I stopped drumming for about 4 years and just got back for 2 years now, I've been doing some demoing and recording and I realized this is the spot I need to work on again. And seeing how the situation is unfolding I'm starting to get pressured on going live again soon. This video is a gem, thank you for this man. Your passion comes accross your videos. 🤘

    So I practiced this once and already feel more confident in my kick speed - I had to start the drill off without the snare and only do the kick drum every other quarter beat then adding to every quarter beat then adding the snare…. I’ve only managed to work on the 1st exercise but already such a huge improvement, it now feels like okay this can be possible if I work on it thank you so much!!!

    Helpful lessons. I started to play 2 years ago and I struggle with the slide technique. Heel-toe technique seems to be easier for me but I really want to learn the slides.

    • @roby6993
      @roby6993 3 роки тому +1

      You don't need to use the slide technique to go fast. For example, George Kollias, an extreme metal drummer who can play very fast blast beats with only one foot (°_°), uses what he calls the modern version of the heel up technique. Other great drummers use different techniques (heel toe, swivel, and so on). If you feel the heel toe technique works better for you, just go for it.

    I bought my first kit(no music experience/playing atall) from a pawn shop!!! 6pc mapex studio blonde. A horrible and very very old pearl double kick petal. Wayyyyyy more than I needed, but the price was wayyy good. So I started on a double. Which in the long run really didn't help me. It created bad habits. So as I played on a drum pad, even pillows I worked my hands and realized hey I need to do this on the double as well. So I spent time only using my non-dominant foot and it worked beautifully

    Thankyou! I got it, where my double bass technique lag behind now... it is the Double strokes on my feet, I have a hard time of coordinating that without going nuts. Got something to practice for the forseeable future! I can do 1/16 note singles over 4/4 beat at 120bpm easy, but for the life of me I cat go double strokes for 60 bpm, I need to slow the FFFFF down for the next few months...

    This is great plan. First time I've seen a layout like this. I've always struggled with control and bigger movements on my pedals. One thing that help was just move foot up and down at full flex. Do it over and over for me it helps build the connection I guess. For double guys do both feet get that flex. My opinion if your not loose and relaxed you are never going to be fast and have that endurance. This is something I wish I learned 15 years ago. Hahaha.

    Loads of great advice and exercises. I use the "slide technique" when playing at 100+ BPM/ Cut time. I also use a rolling technique that I've found gives me a little more control and let's the beater sound more equal on both strokes of the double. It was a sortta side effect of 6yrs of Matching Band. (Rolling your feet so they aren't heard in the music 😁).
