- It’s a new year, and I am feeling inspired to create some new DIY wall art. And after years of DIYing, you’d think I would have mastered it all, but today’s projects have challenged me to problem solve and come up with some creative solutions. I'm showing you two pieces with tons of texture, how to drape clay onto canvas and how to create a unique stamp design!

I really love and appreciate how you show us the “failures” in your process in real time. I’m such a perfectionist that I avoid even trying creative projects, but watching how you work through yours really inspires me to just go for it. Like, because I’ve seen how someone so talented and creative works through a “failure”, it feels more approachable to try myself! Thank you!
You can soak some fabric in plaster of paris and drape it over the canvas. You won't have to worry about clays cracking or wrinkling, and it's easier to manipulate
Yes! I had a similar thought. Use fabric soaked in liquid starch.
Great tips! I’ve seen cement used for the same effect as well.
I've never worked with cement on a wall piece 🤔 but I'm intrigued now, lol. Joint compound on the hand is hella fun and therapeutic
Tina, the cracked pieces are the perfect opportunity to practice kintsugi and embrace the beauty of imperfection. You could use gold leaf or gold paint to showcase the cracks. I think that would be so interesting. Hope you do some DIY kintsugi soon.
love this idea!!!!
I love the idea of showcasing the cracks! Perfection is overrated.
Love it
I was thinking the same thing. And she could paint the canvas gold or another rich colour underneath so it shows through in the cracks.
Kitchen rags, cheese cloth or any thin cloth would work! I saw one artist showing that she adds some white glue to the plaster mix to avoid cracking. She uses wires for shaping and cheese cloth dipped in the plaster/glue mix
Super thankful for keeping in the trials. I am currently trying a DIY project like this and was curious how the clay bonded to the canvas. I am looking forward to my creative side doing its thing!
Tina, I’m fairly new. I’m just getting back into texture works; this type is new.
I do like seeing both the “mistakes,” and those that come out lovely. It’s sort of weird to say this, as ART is subjective. Seeing how different products may or definitely not work is helpful. I know clays can be tricky; air dry is definitely one of them.
There’s so many things to create! I’ve had to back off, and study more. Ugh 😣 mishaps can be expensive…..
I look forward to seeing more videos; inspiring
Wowza!!! I can't believe I just found your channel. Your style and quality is exactly what I prefer. Now I have to show some discipline and get on with my boring day. lol I enjoyed all the projects but that stamping wall art is amazing. I LOVE that you went the extra step to finish it with the wood frame. I love the extra elevated steps on a solid diy project. Thank you for sharing!!!
I LOVE the stamped painting, it came out gorgeous! The Das air dry clay is a great modelling clay, but if you want to get a better more consistent finish in your draped shape painting, use some linen or t-shirt material, and soak it in either in PoP or cement mixture and when you drape it on a canvas it won't crack and will look amazing! If you want a more textured surface on it, add a whole load of sharp sand to the cement or PoP and then shape it and it will give you an amazing texture! Also if you use a thickly textured towel and soak it with the PoP or cement, that creates an amazing texture. I hope that helps you in making those draped fabric art pieces. I love your videos, they are always full of great content! God bless you and all those you love. Have a great week!
Thank you for showing this. Most new projects have varying degrees of success. Social media perfection is a lie. This helps with balancing thst out. Plus OMG I have to try the stamp print with some littles. Perhaps half hearts instead of half circles.
I love the stamped art work! Happy New Year Tina and Brian!!🎉❤
Love both projects. I used Creative Paper Clay this past holiday season for an ornament project and found that it did shrink a bit when drying. The canvas is beautiful. Fabric tip: you might like the texture even more if you wash and dry the fabric before adhering it to the canvas.
I use DAS all the time and I find the paper content helps it become more durable. I also like to use a spray bottle to slow the drying down.
I love all of these and how well you embrace the imperfections. So incredibly grateful to be on this ride with you and your channel!
I'm loving the half moon shape print that you made! I'm inspired to do my own this year too!🌙
Beautiful! I love your determination. It always works out in the end.
I LOVE THOSE!!! especially the stamped one. Just the idea of using fabric on canvas was such a cool idea. It looked so expensive! The clay art turned out beautiful and I'm with your friend I actually don't mind the cracked one it gave it a vintage vibe to it.
Thanks for sharing your successes and “failures” it really helps those in the DIY space understand what to expect. Your work turned out beautifully. ❤
Both are amazing projects! I really love you working through the problems on the draped canvas. Yay Tina! That always inspires me more however your stamped piece looks like you bought it at a High end store, fabulous ♥️♥️♥️
I'm in love with the large canvas one 😍 It has such a beautiful movement and texture. Amazing as always Tina! And happy new year ✨
I always love your attitude towards projects, it's not the end of the world if they don't work out... I need to follow example and not be so scared! 🙈 2nd one was my favourite 😍 xxx
I love your determination to make it work, such a great mantra!
The second one came out so perfect
Happy New Year 2023!! Art diy....yay!! Great way to start 2023, my fave was the half "moon" stamps love it!!🌛🌜
The first one is by far my favorite
Happy new year
Really enjoyed both projects and seeing the process!!
I really love that last wall art with the semi circles. So nice & could work in with any decor
Wow ! The linen wall art looks expensive ! It’s absolutely beautiful ! Love it !
Thank you!! I really love how it came out 😍😍
19:36 that turned out amazing! 😮
I hope you show us more "mistakes" in the future because they are such good learning opportunities!
Adversity only makes you stronger! You always find a way and it’s always inspiring ❤ Happy new year everyone 🎉
Where there’s a will, there’s a DIY way 💛💛👏🏼
Love the linen art! I think I'll make two. Could you show us how you made the frames?
I love that you reuse your scrap materials! Honestly I love both of the projects and I love how the cracked clay one got a lot of texture from the joint compound! The half moon one looks so cool and I can’t decide which way it looks better either! Kind of digging it vertical though!
All of the projects were amazing!! Great stuff!!
I love this video. But I am wondering if the joint compound works with the cracks? literally have the same project but its cracking and need help trying to fix it without buying different clay.
Great ideas. Trying diy art with sparkle tonight. Me and my daughter.😊❤
I like the frames u made! The last one is awesome!
The last project is my favorite but I do really like the way the clay process worked out! Happy New Year!
Yay! Diy art. I need to create some for my home. Thank you for the inspiration!
I love a good textured art piece! Omg they turned out beautiful thanks for sharing.
I love when you create wall art! I may have to recreate the shapes one in black.
Stamped wall art was my favorite 👏👏👏👏
Oops I’ll b trying the shape stamp canvas
Thanks for sharing
Jeni
I like them both. Lol. I like that you show us how to fix it. Happy New Year to you both! 🎉🥳
Looking forward to your projects in 2023. 😍
Happy vacation!
Great ideas. Good save on the cracked ones.
Tina you did any awesome job on both!!!! Happy New Years!!!!
Thanks so much, Donna! 💛💛
Happy New Year! 💖💖
I think you should consider doing DIYs for other people and expand your horizons. So many of us love your style ❤️👏👍
I loved the last one it has so much texture ❤
Hello from UK Tina
Just wondering if you used any glue under the DAS modelling clay? Did it adhere to the canvas??? I am trying to do a similar piece & would love your input, Many thanks Samm
LOVE them both!! Totally want to try them both!!
Love the clay...looks like a gorgeous piece of textured art!
I haven't tried it yet but in my research for a project. I came across where as you are kneading your air dry clay add glue to it to help stiffen it as it drys. It started it helps with cracking. Granted spackle is always a good product to use.
I absolutely love the half moon art! I want to make that too! Love it!
The stamped one was so good! So glueing with mod podge doesn’t make the glue come through the fabric holes and look spotty? Lol I hope that made sense). If not, I’m for sure going to do my own version
I feel like the first project would have looked sooooo good if painted in a glossy navy or something that would look like silk rather than linen. Great job sticking it out!!!
Been thinking about doing the first one, know I know what to do and what not to do. Thanks Tina and Happy New Year
I really like the large print that you did
The last one was my fav!
Love that you never give up and continue to make a diy work. As well as your positivity, it always makes me smile!
Hi Tina happy New Year
I love your creations 😍😍😍 so beautiful thank you for your video 😍😍
The linen piece is really amazing 👌✨
Love the stamped art piece. It looks so professional but then you are. But it looks like I can make it and it could look the same. Love you work. 🎉Happy New Year!!!🎉🎉
Yes, you definitely can! Thanks, Nancy 💛
Happy New Year!
I would love to see you fill in the cracks with gold like the Japanese kintsugi technique...this actually gives me an idea!
You should look into Millaput ! I fix cracks and gouges in vintage frames with it
the fabric looking clay piece is so unique. i want one, love it.
i LoL'd when brian said he wanted to put pepperonis on it
This is the first time your videos have been suggested to me in about 6 months and I’m subscribed, yt shows me the same 5 ppl over and over and over, while all my other subscriptions are never seen.
The stamped canvas is gorgeous, I'd buy it if I saw it in a store. Great job!
I love all your work!!! It's a beautiful start to 2023👏👏👏🥳🥳🥳❤
Like the 2nd piece printed on canvas, looks well, tfs
Hola!!Los dos diy están bellos, que bonito es crear ver que lo que te rodea lo haz hecho tu❤
The Clay as I Love imperfections & Folds💯%
Happy New Year 💝Tina and Brian 💝 LOvE How Your Arts & Craft Space & Overall Home Remodeling Looks 😍 It's Been Staying so Neat, NOW That's,"🤔 Quite the Achievement for Anyone in Itself" 😂🤣😂 whose into Creative Arts 💝💝💝💝💝💝🎉
Hey Tina! You're the boss of that clay - way to make it behave!
Very hard to chose a favorite! Just as a matter of personal taste, (What else is there concerning art!?!) I would decorate with the last one hung portrait style. Since the orientation works both ways, when swapping out to a different location, it could be hung landscape. Of course that goes for the clay ones as well! Great job
Thank you so much, Jeanne-Marie!! 💛
With the clay, did you seal it with something??
Wow both look so cool! 😍 I especially love the linen one! And once again, thank you for showing the mistakes along the way, it keeps it real ☺️ All the best for the new year, Tina 🥰✨ Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us 😍
Thank you, Elina!! I am excited to kick off another year of DIY 💛👏🏼
Love them both thanks for sharing ❤
I really liked both!
Great content. Where can I get the stamps? What kind are they? 😊
I’m 2 months late, but I loved both pieces. I even really liked the cracking. I wonder if you wetted the canvas, would the clay have maintained enough moisture to keep from cracking.
I’ve been buying all my canvases at thrift shops, and gesso over them. Easy way to get BIG slightly more sustainable art.
I had done the clay diy last yr but I did mine with white cotton bed sheet I have a ver large canvas w white school glue I framed it and put it up in the guest bedroom looks great
So I will b trying the sh
Is that cla way cheaper ? Ive seen it done , looks like they make it a litle bit thicker ?? 🤔🤔 Thanks for sharing ... 😊😊😊
Hola Tina!. Feliz 2023. Saludos desde Venezuela
My favorite was the stamped canvas.
Second attempt on the clay canvas was great. There is an air dry clay called silky clay which is very light and dries almost like lightweight foam. Would probably be great for something like that.
Next time, try covering the whole thing in a plastic bag on a board with some wet paper towels, it will dry super slow but it likely wont crack!
Love the half moon picture.
Beautiful artwork ❤😊
HAPPY NEW YEAR from Germany 🎉
Happy new year!! 💛💛
How fun! 😊👌👏
Missing the coke can! All the best for the new year!
I enjoyed the last project
Linen one , love it
If you used a wood panel ‘canvas’ you could minimise cracking. Das is definitely the superior clay for DIYing ❤️✨
Happy new year Tina! From Argentina
Happy new year, Sara! 💛💛
I love the second one ❤️😉🇨🇦👍🏼
When trying something new I seem to always like the second try better, and just end up calling the first attempt the “trial run” and it always turns out better.
Love this mindset!! It's never perfect the first time, so you're right that it should be seen as the trial 🙈
How can i do this on a big canvas ? Same way or wil it be different?
Not related to this post at all, but could you post a video showing us all of the power tools and tools that you use and couldn't go without!! Also why you like them!!
