just went to say you’ve inspired me to do so much! i made your flower installation around my fireplace and a mirror wall, i have been painting my apartment the past two weeks and it’s so lovely to have color. I remember when my husband and I moved back to cali and tried to buy a home only to realize the value wasn't there for us either. Days before we moved out of state I spent sleepless nights at the beach crying thinking of all that we'd be leaving - our friends, family, the beauty that makes up such a beautiful state. What a grip California has on our hearts, We are so blessed to have lived in such a beautiful place but like you two, we knew it wasn't for us. It is truly amazing how much you transformed that blank box of an apartment in LA, and I can't wait to see what you do in your Chicago pad. "Bloom where you are planted" was the lesson I learned from 35 years of moving every 1-2 years.
Oh gosh Tina Le, I just loved all of the DIYs you did in this apartment, and putting it back to just white and bright it does look so good and like brand new because you did a great job repainting everything. Gosh moving all the way back to chicago is a long ways away and I am so sad you won't be in California anymore because if I would have made a trip there I could have really meant you and Brian and I am looking forward to seeing your new apartment and how pretty it will be, I still love that beautiful flower that I won from you and everytime I see it I smile and almost cry because it is really so beautiful and I really love it so much. It is alot colder in Chicago than California and I hope that you will be so happy living there again. I am wishing you some safe travels and a great move in to your new apartment. Moving is the biggest PITA and especially when you have to change all that stuff back - yikes! Did love the mural, actually the only thing I didn't like in the bathroom was the mirror surround - it was really cute, but I didn't feel like it fit in with the rest of it. Anyways, you should be in Chicago by now, hope it was a safe and uneventful trip. We loved visiting there when our son lived there for about a dozen years after graduating from UChicago . He is actually in Cali now, in Burbank, and while he doesn't miss the winters, he still very much misses the city. Looking forward to what happens next.
You have inspired and motivated me to finally start painting away the builder beige and changing out the fixtures in the house I've lived in for 11 yrs now. I like so many colors and styles I couldn't narrow it down. But when I look at the specific color palettes I've consistently picked with clothes, bedding, dishes, etc I just finally started there. It's weird when you just commit to a color it just works out. You have incredible talent to curate a room and bring all these design elements together and it just works. I don't have that. But your videos have really started to work those creative cogs. 😊 Because at the very least it's just paint. My husband can wire different fixtures. I started in my office/studio. Now I've done my mudroom. Next up... I don't know. It will be colorful. 😊❤️ I hope you had an a drama free drive and all your stuff arrived in tact and undamaged. 😊❤️
I build theater sets, and it is always so humbling to spend tens of hours and multiple days designing, building, and decorating a set, only to take the whole thing apart only a few weeks later in the span of a few hours. Safe moving!

We lived in California twice in our first years of marriage also! But, in the end, we came home. We wanted to raise our kids near family and friends, and where we grew up. That was in the 90's, and we are still in our same house 30 years later. Ironically, one of of kids lives in Chicago (with his wife and kids!!) It is SO COLD THERE!!!!🥶❄☃
