I shared a comment in a prior video about what you were talking about in this video. It was great to watch this today. Mate, we are all cheering for you and want you to be successful. The good news is you have 3 years of gaining ALOT of experience and I believe you are ready to take on this new challenge. You give alot of positive energy and good things will come to you, just believe in the good people. Imagine your UA-cam channel if you move closer, it will go off. When I was at Kata Beach in 2022 it lacked on good places to go, so again I think you are onto something. There is a great guy who runs Kata Hot Yoga, he has run his business for 15 years, you should speak to him, he will have alot of good advice.
We have been here even before the business, and watched the growth till now. Yes it's time for that move. Now once a baby comes along who's looking after the baby once the new business gets going it will take hard work to get it going. Good luck wish you both well and every success cheers. 😊

You have created a special unique place with hat location , the vibe and THAT amazing garden , it would be a real real shame to give that up.
A nice little coffee shop/ cafe closer to the centre would be good and then push people up to the restaurant at night.
The restaurant needs to be open until 10pm , people like to come out for "the night" to eat and drink .
That’s a real shame if you have to move from your current location. I visited your cafe in April of this year just before your chef left. Nice place.
Every video you put out reminds me of why I started following you guys journey in the first place. Such an inspiring journey and I'm sure you 2 will be great parents with the right mindset.

Keep rollin’Richie! The harder you work the luckier you get. You’ve got a phenomenal wife and having children changes things forever, your daughter will become your driving force. I run businesses, sold them too, you know what your gut instinct tells you, so go with it. Two things, make sure you do your numbers, low season with higher costs will hurt in the new place, but profit and prudence during the high will help you squirrel cash. Maybelle has been such a driving force around the business daily, she’ll have the baby, just watch dynamics. You’ve got to work double hard now, so just recognise that and how much more pressure a move will incur.
Can you set up a golf cart type of shuttle from the beach to the restaurant…
As long as you and your wife want the same, move the business and you will learn even more and we support you

When I was in Kamala Beach a few months ago there was a vacant space that was peviously an upscale Lounge/Bar next to Big C that would make a perfect coffeeshop with very little work

amazing continuing saga of Ritchie n Maybelle's journey...awesome sauce brother...and hey....keep the garden...the villa idea isn't bad...however I would cut back all the beautiful flowers from the comer view so people could see the cafe again...and I'd scall it back to retro coffee n cakes only....low overhead but you can use it to promote Maybelle's Beachfront restaurant...yea!

Great video mate always enjoy your updates and growth on both Maybelles and your life 😊 as for what you’re pondering. Why not do exactly the same as you did with the garden down on the beach? You have the proven business model start with serving coffees and snacks then grow into a cafe/restaurant all the while keeping the garden ticking over as you’ve put so much time and effort into that place. Just a thought!
I believe that your baby girl will be a healthy c-section. congratulations. all the best guys! get a bicycle with a baby seat and go for a ride every morning - or, get a nice stroller and take her out for your early morning walk while Maybelle gets an hour of rest in.

Mixed feeling if a move to a beachfront location will be better. More rent, more competition so you will have to lower prices to compete with the well established restaurants. Utube channel will not guarantee you success. This may sound like a negative comment. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

Great film pal. It is tough at times, we know too well too!! You are a lovely couple and a great team. The coffee garden is a true place of Paridise and you have worked very hard to get where it is now. Most new businesses can take 3/4 years to take off but I hear what you say about location. If you manage to get a 2nd location closer to the action, it can only be good ✅️ but if possible I would think you should try and keep this one too. Development there in years to come could be great for you and we both wish you well with future plans. I would stay there mate and maybe open up a smaller type shop on the beach, that only has drinks and a small amount of food. See how that goes before moving the whole lot. The commitment of a big shop on the beach during low season, baby coming etc etc is something you don't need. Just my 2 cents worth. All the best!
I would suggest more signage for passing traffic or dropping flyers round local hotels all helps 👍

Hey guys... excellent video. Been soming up your thoughts and idears , im no professional in your line of making a living. As you no we have been to your place. Was great. But with transport i donno if we would of come for lunch. We tend to spend our time in close proximity of our stay. Unless going to a night market or good ol bangla rd for a blow out. You no your foot fall and mega turn over would be near on the door step of any of the beaches. All the places our flat out . Lunch and dinner. Or just drinks. You both have worked so hard to get wot you have. Food and drink pays. If it was me..... keep coffee garden open and running. But get a new venue on the beach. With in a couple of years sell the 1 that isnt as profitable . Any way. We are back again in Feb / march. Merry Christmas and the best new year. Love from Guernsey. Rolly & Aimee. Interesting video. I would stay where you are if you have a good deal with the landlord and the Airbnb. If you move near the beach you may increase your turnover but rent will be higher. It's all about profit in the end. Good luck which ever way you decide to go.

You and Maybelle are good business operators, based on my observation. Why not open a second restaurant while continuing to run and operate the current business? Later on when the new business has taken off then maybe, think about what you want to do with the old place? You mentioned how you like to keep busy, running and operating new businesses will surely keep you busy. Location, location, location! Do you need an investor? Just a thought 🙃

Hey Richie, have you thought of surveying your customers about this? You may find one of the biggest driving factors they go to your place is because of the surroundings you have created. Can you replicate that in the middle of a built up tourist area? Would existing customers like switching from the current surroundings to a ‘normal’ restaurant/coffee bar of which there are plenty? I ran a UK business for 17 years and know you can’t let customers totally dictate your plans but they are still a factor. What % of customers would you lose compared to what you would gain. If it were my business, I’d be trying to see how many would follow no matter what type of location and surroundings you moved to.
Hi Richie and Maybelle, Just a suggestion, invest in a golf cart and run a shuttle between the beach and your coffee garden. You can paint up the cart with your logo and menu items. You already have a nice place that is established and marketed on google. Maybe providing transportation back and forth to the beach area would help the business.

Since the current rental cost is so reasonable, perhaps continue to operate as is until your lease is up. Hopefully by then those villas will he built and you’ll get a big boost in business. You have already shown that people seek your place out on purpose and travel off the beach area to visit Maybelle’s. Maybe a Sunday roast/BBQ could be an interesting addition to the menu.
Getting closer to the beach is great, but you are going to have to start from scratch in the new location which will cost a bit of cash.
I’m thinking you could set up a mobile coffee cab/trailer near the beach road in the interim in 2024, supplying a abbreviated menu that could be supplied by the current kitchen plus coffee/smoothies etc. It could serve as an additional revenue stream and a way to gauge a potential future full move to nearer the beach.
How much does it actually cost to rent a spot for a food truck/food trailer on beach road; or is that not allowed? I owned a four trailer in the US. The main issue is the expense/hassle is getting a spot to park the trailer. Here it is very expensive.

Sounds like a plan Richie. My wife and I live in Bangkok and we are going to take a road trip driving down to Phuket in January or February. One of the main reasons I am driving is because I know you are a little bit off the beaten track, and it will make it easier to pop in for coffee and food. My wife much prefers flying down but is indulging me on this occasion. She would slaughter me if she knew my main reason for driving over 500 miles is to make my coffee drinking experience easier😄😄. Please make sure you don’t move from the original coffee garden before the end of February though!! Every best wish to you both and your new arrival!

In June when I was in Phuket staying in Patong is the very reason why I didn’t get to visit you due to location and distance… I do believe if it was somewhere accessible easily me and the family may have pop in your cafe for coffee and cakes… 1 step at a time you will reach your destination… cheer from Singapore.

Keep the garden, brunch/lunch only, close when it’s slow. Get another spot with more foot traffic. Listen to you gut, which sounds like you like the location of the garden but it’s not the end all be all. You’re always talking about growth, and if costs can stay low there, keep it and focus on growth with the new place.

Good idea to move, Location is everything! I have been to the school of hard knocks a few times. One thing I have learned is have a good contract in your lease. Best to buy your property. I have been screwed a few times with landlords taking the property back or trying double our rent when they say us doing good. Good luck on the move. Merry Christmas

!st time I have watched you,interesting video,I lost 2 small business10 years,My good friend lost 2 computers stores before he died in 2006,we all lived up in Chiangrai area.I couldn't live in Phuket or Pattaya.I really never did live the dream and went back to the USA in 2010,Good luck to you an your family,you will need it in the future.Just remeber the more susseful you are and the more you make somebody is always watching you an keeping tabs.

Hallo to you 2 over in Thailand,its nice to know that the place is stil a good one. Richie as I wrote a long time ago ,as a musisian ,maybie with some nice sing along with a nice guitar in the back ground ,this place could be booming ,when people realicing that the admosfare is super,the staff is great,the food is heaven ,and ofcouse with the right group of musisians that maybie can change once in a while ,I do think that is a better deal than the moving ,because maybie all the people is comming to the garden because its lokatet were it is. But ofcause this is just me speeking out loud. But my offer still stands ,when ever me and the misses are comming for a longer perriode in the next seson ,if you give the Jack and the coke,plus some delisius food ,I give you a littel bit of heaven within the music. Its time for you to try and buy a place for your next location, if you can look at it as how you can you do over the next 10 years, then you will have a good location to rent out if you decide to semi retire at some point in the future, think long term for the future of your family.
That's what I did and I just take the rent every month now.
Convert it to thai cooking classes/school..
