I've seen GDI soldiers from a sold guard tower holding their ground in guard mode as default. I was surprised because they would approach and attack enemies when they got closer. Great video!
wow I was just watching a tips and tricks for CnC generals and didn't understand what guard mode is but now I understand perfectly even on a game made, a decade later.
Is it possible to tell troops/vehicles..etc.. to guard a person or structure on the PC? You can do this on the PS1 C & C or Red Alert. Can't seem to be able to do so on the PC?
It does! the missile attack is more consistent in Red Alert, but in C&C (TD) it seems to only fire the missiles when pivoting its turret. Even in the remaster the attack is still largely inconsistent, but it wrecks infantry and does good damage to air units when they actually fire.
@@RedRupee It'll fire Rockets freely at aerial units simply because it can't shoot them with its cannons. Anything that it can shoot with its cannons, it will though. Even if the Rockets would be better. That's why you've got to use the pivot trick, because I believe the Rockets have a larger arc of fire than the Cannons, so it will initially use them simply because they're the only thing with the required firing arc at the point the Mammoth/Turret is turning. Once the cannons are in arc too it'll just switch to using them instead. That said, the TD Mammoth Rockets seem much more potent than the RA ones.

Problem is, there's no indicator if a unit's ON guard mode or not.
You can spice it up by assigning teams with different range.
You can also use the guard mode to auto crush units
This is not a new feature, seems like it works exactly like it did in the original.
good informative content VERY GOOD

if you hold ctrl and alt when using the 'move here' target, you'll see it turns to yellow from green. place that over something you want to guard
@@wags9035 Managed to find out from the 'steam' discussion section already - thanks to great people like yourself! But thanks, anyway! 👾💯👍
How do you get them to guard Harvesters? This is what I really need when they wander off through enemies
How can you tell whether guard mode is on or off? When you have lots of units you'll forget which ones you've pressed the key on.
Good informative job on this video. What exactly is the name of the music track in the video? Can't find it.

@@RedRupee No idea how this comment didn't notify me a week ago. Thanks, somehow didn't catch this track before when searching!
Nice! Does the mammoth tank have anti-air rockets when placed on Guard Mode in remastered as it did in the original?

hey! thanks for the video! Do units stop guard mode after a move command? Or it stops only when pressing the G key again?
After they receive any other command you'll have to hit the Guard key again to activate :)
@@RedRupee many thanks!
